They call almost daily. "Children's Cancer" comes up on Caller ID. Next time they call, I'm going to answer. But I'm going to start crying and ask them why they keep trying to give me children's cancer. I don't want cancer! Lol

TBoned, just because an organization is "tax deductible", it doesn't mean it's legitimate.  The BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU gives this organization an "F". Very little money going to the people that need help, cancer patients. SCAMMER / FRAUDSTER

My Creator has guided my gut instinct and says don't give to these scammers. Whether I give a donation or not has no bearing on whether I care about kids with cancer. Like you said "it may help" a child with cancer or it "may help" fill the pockets of scumbags that use child cancer as a way to make their living ripping off  innocent people who actually think they're giving to a reputable charity.

So, take your cash money that you want to donate to the children's cancer unit of your local hospital. Or put the cash in an envelope and mail it to your local hospital. Specify what you want them to use it for (games, treats, fuzzy toys, whatever).

They called my cell phone this afternoon.  Which that got us started off on the wrong foot.  I was nice, I let the lady speak, and then I told her that I already give to Child's Play.  Before I could say another thing she had hung up on me!  Unbelievable.  I called back and left a message on the voice mail system explaining the call and went on further that I don't give to charities over the phone no matter who they are and I was displeased about them calling my cell phone.

I got a call the other day from this number.  It did come up as Children's Cancer.  However, the robo caller asked if the lady of the house was available.  I said no and the robo said "that's okay, I can speak to either of you".  It was not even a real person!  The "person" 's name was Valerie.  I also do not give willy nilly and especially not over the phone.  I tried to call and got full mailbox.   Scammer.

I let it go to voicemail and they did not leave a message.

Here is where the MAJORITY of the funds they raise go.

"Since it was formed, Children's Cancer Fund has raised nearly $38 million and let professional fundraisers keep nearly 78 percent. The charity has given cash grants to patients of about $300,000 a year. It also reports shipping millions of dollars in donated medical supplies to developing nations each year through "gifts-in-kind" programs."

From what I understand the charity foundation itself is not a fraud, and it does seem that they do donate much of what they receive to the charity.  But the kicker, as it is with most phone fund raising, is that they use 3rd party telemarketers who keep a large portion of the money that is donated.  According to this foundation's website, you can request to be removed from the calling list.  Here's the link.  http://childrenscancerrecovery.org/contact/request-removal-from-calling-list/.  

You want to give your debit/credit # over the phone to some stranger, be our guest. Any person with half a brain wouldn't.

I got a call from this # yesterday asking could I pledge $40 & then she said 15 or 20.  She was polite.  I don't give my money unless I know you are legitmate.  With all the scam artist out there, one does have to be careful.  Besides I like to see what percentage goes to cause because sometimes very little does.  

I've started forwarding these calls to each other. My phone service allows me to forward a list of numbers to a specified number so that's what I've started doing. Maybe they'll finally get the point...

Even if this was a legit charity, never, ever give, money or information over the telephone. If you feel the need to give, go directly to the research hospital and give. St Jude in Tenn is a good place to start for children's cancer.
