Called me again. I never answer.  Since I've been keeping a list, they have called me 29 times. Can't they find some new people to bother??

I got a call from them today, saw it on the CallerID.  I sort of wished I was there to answer it. The conversation would have gone like this 'Oh, you want a donation for children with cancer?  Well my 5 year old has an inoperable brain tumor and has been in chemo for 2 1/2 years.  Can you make a donation to me?" -  I think they would have hung up at that point.   (It is a true story, she has an optic glioma).

Rec'vd call this morning. The "fundraiser" was very harsh and abrasive in demeanor, also rude to the point of belligerence. First, I would never EVER give money to a stranger who calls me on the phone -- no matter who/what/why. And second, anyone who so aggressively and rudely treats someone he/she wants something from is not entitled to my resources and will not succeed in obtaining them.

If this is an actual charitable organization, they need to overhaul their methods and their approach to something more sympathetic, reasonable, and courteous. As it stands, they have created and solidified a terrible reputation for themselves. Please do not be bullied by these creeps, do not encourage them!

This persistent "charity" keeps calling me asking for my credit card information for a donation, even after I asked several times to not be called anymore.  Well they finally pissed me off for good and I bought an Ooma internet phone that allows me to block 250 numbers.  And they are the lucky first number I blocked! Ah, the deafening silence is wonderful.

    Not them
I live in Springfield Illinois, and I assure you that this organization is not based in Springfield nor does it have a presence here other than a telephone number. They are based in Pennsylvania.  A legitimate charity would not use a telephone number from another state. Beware of giving money to "charities" who have such a low rating concerning the actual use of monies to benefit those in need. They have a slick website, but all than means is money is being paid to a webmaster to create a warm fuzzy website. Scam.

We have received so many calls from them that I cannot even keep track.  I have asked politely to be removed from their call list.  It does not help to ask or yell or call them back as the calls continue.  I told them I was on the do not call registry and they replied that they are exempt because they are  a charity.  Any legitimate charity would not operate this way.  Do the recipients of any funds they give not care how the funds are collected?  I question how they allow their names to be used when they only get pennies of each dollar donated.  If they refused any donations from fraudsters like this "Children's Cancer fund", it would be unable to claim to be a charitable foundation.  Then they would be gone.  It's collectors like this that make us wary of even real fundraising.

As a matter of fact, if they continue and cross the lines laid out specifically for them, they can still get into trouble.  Charity's are exempt from the DNC list, but they still have rules and they can still be reported. You just don't report them to the DNC since it is aimed at Telemarketers only. However, State laws may differ also. For example, Charity's are not allowed by law in Oregon to call period.  So you need to check your states laws as well as the FTC/TCPA..  So if they break your state law, then you can file complaints with both state and federal.

    By State DNC lists:

    Dear J Catcott .
800notes is not affiliated with your callers, we are not calling you either. 800notes is a forum for reporting who calls you and any information you may have about the call to share with other forum users. It is highly doubtful that your callers are reading here also.

Do consider maybe getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $60.00 or so.

    Tired of these calls
Get numerous calls from them and never answered.  Finally answered because I was waiting for a call back from a legitimate business.

The person said that I'm hard to reach because she finally got a hold of me.  I told her that I'm hard to reach because I don't want to be bothered and stop calling me because I get so many charity solicitations in a week that I'm not giving to anyone.

The Center for Investigative Reporting and Tampa Bay Times along with CNN investigated this particular charity and it's one of the worst 50 charities in the country.

FYI, I no longer give to any charity that solicits me via phone.  It appears that if you give to one organization that contacts you via phone that they provide the number to other charities and you get more and more solicitations.

This is a SCAM. Their organization is not registered, don't have and address or webpage. Charities don't ask for donation over the phone with your credit card. BEWARE. They just called me, as soon as I asked them for and address or a webpage so I could verify them, they hung up!

I don't give to anything over the phone.  Including so called charities.   I donate food to the  LOCAL food banks and donate to the Salvation Army, Veterans, White Cane (for the blind) and the Gospel Mission that helps the homeless.  All local.  So if you want to give do it locally.  Help those in your area.  Is it really a charity or a scam.  Scammers use other business #'s etc.  to make you think that is where the call is from.
So I am putting unknown caller!

I do not answer these calls.  I would rather give to the Food Depository than over the phone!  Love the sound of telephone rings.

    No legal expert
I'm no expert, but regardless if these are "allowed" to call you under DNC, it is still illegal for ANYONE to continually harass you over the phone. Calling and not leaving any message, over and over again, is HARASSMENT. Contact your police and write a police report for harassing phone calls.
