calls from this number here in Saskatchewan Canada are offering some free boarding pass, and to press <9> to claim my prize.  No other option to get to a live rep.  No clue where the number is located, but I'm not calling it back.  But they call my home, they call my cell.  UGH!

I live in Halifax, NS and I receive calls from 1-234-567-8900 fairly often.  Most of the time it is dead air, but tonight there was a pre-recorded announcement, offering lower interest rates if I pressed "1".

I figured this would be a good way to talk to someone about stopping the calls.  The woman on the other end asked if I called about lowering my interest rate, and I said, "no, I'm calling because I don't want anymore automated calls."  She hung up.

I determined that it wasn't my credit card company that called, and I found myself at this website.  There's a lot of different stories going around, but they all look like scams.  I guess the unlikely sequence of digits 12345678900 should have been my first hint...duh.  This is probably a case of caller ID spoofing, which is when someone causes the caller ID to display a number which is not that of the actual caller.  It is fairly common, dead easy, and for some reason, still legal.

I phoned the phone company (Aliant) and they said there is nothing they can do about it, just hang up.  I find it frustrating that they cannot trace the call, as it's dead obvious that there is a criminal element to it, but they say you have to get the police involved and they can only do it in life-threatening circumstances.  So they can do it, but only if it's really super-duper important?  I thought telemarketing fraud supposedly costs Americans and Canadians billions of dollars[1, 2], and they can't find the resources to figure this one out?  Come on.

I just got a new cell number 2 weeks ago and as of last week these people have been calling back to back.  They called this morning at 5am.  Initially, the number would show "Restricted" or Unavailable", as of Monday, is shows 234-56-78.  When I answer it immediately hangs up.  Now, I just hit the ignore button

These people want to lower your interest rates.
I have no credit cards, and pressed 1 to SPEAK TO A REAL LIVE CUSTOMER SERVICE OPERATOR. I told her I had no credit cards. She apologized and I said that I`m not sure you are sorry, because I know this is a scam and I will be going to the police.

I am sorry for the person who recieved threats, that's awful and they should be punished, but "criminaly insane chickens" that was too funny!  I almost never answer my home phone because its always calls like these.  My friends call my cell phone and I think I am just going to get rid of my land line.

They call no matter what, seems no point in being removed from the list I have been removed twice no success. They are offering to lower my cc interest, and being idiotically rude about it. Haha, first time I told them I would contact my card company myself, that their service was useless to anyone who had half a mind to get their rates lowered. That got under their skin I tell you)))
