Kudos!  I do the same and take over the conversation.  This fella just called me too and I tried to get him to swap a good family recipe for my sweet tea or grits recipe.  Georgia boy here.  He wanted me to hit the Microsoft start key, I use a Mac.  I have fun messing with them and wish I could get everyone they call to try to swap recipes with them or something of that nature.  If everybody they tried to steal from hit them back with the same randomness...it won't happen, but would be awesome.  Turnaround = fair play!

I answered (dumb) and heard nothing.  If they are those Microsoft scammers, try this:  Tell them that none of your computers run on either Windows.  ALL of your computers run under Linux.  Shuts them off right away (and it's fun!)

Received a call today (actually my wife did on her cell phone) asking for our 18 year old daughter. My wife said she was not there but her mother. They then proceeded to tell her she had issues with her computer and they were from Microsoft and needed her IP address, etc.  I asked my wife to give me the phone.  I spoke with "Bob Cooper" who sounded like someone from ISIS.  I played along with him for a bit since I knew he was a scammer.  Then Asked him where he was located. He said San Antonio . I told him the number showing was not a San Antonio number.  Then he said he was calling from Washington from Microsoft. I asked him how he could take advantage of people like this and knew he was a scammer.  He started laughing and I hung up on him.

Scammers claimed that I had "error messages because of my IP address" [sic].  Asked me to look in the Windows Event Viewer to see the errors (Windows Event Viewer always shows some errors), then tried to convince me to let him remote control my machine via fastsupport-dot-com.  (That site is legit, but letting him remote to my PC would have been a bad idea.)

I claimed my Internet connection wasn't working, he became vulgar and disconnected.

Received call 253 243 1281 my home office line.    This is the 3rd or 4th time in the past few months I've had these losers call.  Strong accent, Phillipino or India, not sure.  He told me he was with Microsoft and calling about all the messages hitting my pc. I said really I haven't seen one, I asked where he's from, says Texas.  I asked what he wanted, said again the stupid line about all the messages I'm getting on my pc.  I said really so what do you want, he says he's going to help me.   I told him he's going to hell for doing this to people and not to ....... with me again.

This morning just before 10AM PDT I received a call from 253-243-1281.  The number looked local to me so I answered and caller with an Indian, I think, accent, asked for Pamela Hill.  I told him no Pamela Hill here and he asked if I was Mr. Hill.  I told him no that he had the wrong number.  That's when he started to tell me there was something wrong with my computer.  That's when I knew a scam was in progress.  I do not give information like that over the phone and certainly not after I have read posts about this before.  Take care people, someone is always trying to take what does not belong to them.
