When these jokers call I play along with them while I am watching TV or doing chores.  I never even bother to sit at my computer and I tell them I am getting an error message when they tell me to hit this key or that.  When he asks what the error message is I say something along the lines of Ghandi took it up the [***] and then they leave me alone for a few months

Just got a call from this number, (253)-243-1281...caller ID said 'Kent, WA'. Some guy with a foreign accent said they "detected problem with my computer".  I said I don't even have a computer, and he said...you'll love this.... "then why the f...k are wasting my time"!  I got to ask him "why the f....k are you wasting my time, a....hole"?   Seems these calls are quite frequent anymore, would love to see whoever this is nailed, jailed and fined enough to put him out of his miserable business of annoying people!
Sorry to be so blunt, the cuss words were typed as nice as they could be, but you did say to 'post only truthful information'.

Your husband must have needed the assistance of a translator to understand what these lowlifes from India ( the known country of scammers), were trying to convey to him. Actually, except for their annoyance, they are quite humorous.

To answer your question. The FCC is a gov't run office. They don't and can't make money from stopping these calls. In fact they sell the Do Not Call List. Another agency that should or could stop these call is the NSA (National Security Agency). But again their is no money to be made. They would rather spy on other countries.
Buy a phone or device that can block calls or whole area codes like "410", I did. They only calls I now get are new callers who get blocked on 1st ring.
Try Cost-Co cost of phone $80 and worth it.

I have received many of these calls from the same phone number.  I have several responses depending on my mood.

The one I use most of the time is to act like I am panicked because the caller told me my computer was hacked or had a terrible virus.  I lead them along, asking questions to tie them up right to the point that they want me to turn control of my computer over to them.  I tell them I have one more question before I do.  I then ask them in a rather sultry voice what they are wearing and would they like to know what I am wearing.  The responses are usually rude - more than one suggested I commit an anatomically impossible act with myself before he hung up

I tried pretending the news caused a heart attack, but they only hung up on that.

The one I have used most recently was inspired by a family member who was working in a classified FBI operation and received the call.  He identified himself and told the caller that he had reached an FBI office and he did not want the caller to use his money for the call and since my family member had all the information about the caller on his computer screen, he would call back the caller.  There was a fast hang up.

I don't have that type of technology, but I find the caller goes away quickly when I answer:  "Federal Bureau of Investigation, Department of Cyber Security, Office of Counter Intelligence.

Got a call from 253.243.1281 claiming that "my IP was being used by a hacker to attempt to gain access to my PC" and called them out immediately. I am a senior software engineer by occupation and simply explained to him that is not possible, he tried to proceed, I cut him off once more to further explain the impossibility of this "attack", and he politely hung up. A little frustrating considering I have a legitimate MSDN license, and am in the do not call registry. He knew nothing when I was called. This is phishing via social engineering, plain and simple.

Phishing via Indian scam artists and random dialing. They have no reason to respect the DNC registry. Poor excuses for human beings preying on innocent people.

You're the only one who can block the number. No one here can do that for you. That's not the purpose of this web site.

Your approach -- to mess with them -- is great if you have the time and don't mind the potential fallout: being called by all their crony scamming friends.

But I'm curious: what was the anatomically iimpossible act that the caller wanted you to commit with yourse  ... Oh. Never mind. I think I just figured it out. :)

Recieved a call from a man at 5:15 am. I honestly thought it was about 2am. He called me David. The background was so loud it sounded like he was at a bar. I yelled and told him to never call his number again and to take my number off his list. I didn't even give him time to say anything after saying hello David. The caller ID said the number was from Kent, Wa. But the 252 area code is from North Carolina.

(7/29/2015) These people called me and claimed that someone was trying to hack my computer using my IP Address. When I asked which company they worked for, they took a moment and mumbled a random name. I asked them to spell out the company name and they disregarded my question. When I explained that I understood why they were calling and then asked what type of information they were trying to obtain to fix the problem, they hung up. I called the number back and it was disconnected. SCAM FOR SURE!!
