I received the following email from this name and email address.....Walter Anthony walter.anthony52@yahoo.com...in response to a Craigslist posting.  I wasn't suspicious on the 1st email, but the 2nd one really got me thinking.  They are using a new name and script now, be careful.  What a bunch of jerks.  I am relocating and need to sell most of my things and this is what I have to deal with.  Good thing I don't get easily excited over things "too good to be true."

1st Email

Hello,I would like to know if this is still available and when I can come check it out.I think I would have to call you before coming,I am speech impaired though but would call on tty.Thanks

2nd Email

Hello there, thanks for writing back.Am so  sorry I won't be able to come see it anymore.I thought I was gonna be dropping in your town in the next 2 days but my business appointment there has been postponed. I'm still very much interested in buying this, I need it for my cousin as a gift for her birthday. Can it still be sold to me? I will mail you a bank official check for the quoted price, any repairs will be on me, bearing the consequences of not seeing before buying and also add funds to cover the shipping to where it will be needed. I will  arrange a private shipper to handle the delivery so it doesn't stress you. I'll be very delighted if I can buy this. My story is similar to the other posts, although I never actually got a phone call, just an e-mail.  I received the message below and thought it sounded fishy since I am nowhere near Maryland.  I have not responded, nor do I intend to after seeing these posts.

same email from craigslist         maria emailed me about some things i was selling  i smelled bull $hit from the start

I GOT THE SAME - FROM MARIA- AND just on a whim googled her number...
she wanted to buy a sleigh bed from me and ship to chicago- HELL NO. cash or pay pal only....wow.

I received the same email from "Mari or Maria" Scott. mari_scott290@yahoo.com - I hope he or she gets sent to prison OR gets gets their a$$ kicked!

I got the same email. Response to a Craiglist posting. I was suspicious when I got the first email and looked up the Area Code of the number give and I am also am no where near Maryland. I got the second note say will send a check. No Way!!

She wanted to buy my brand new 3 1/2 ton a/c unit too. I put local pick up only, can not ship, so was alerted at the area code as well.

Got the exact same emails from Maria.  Thanks to everyone here for alerting me of the scam!  The out of area code tipped me off and decided to google her number.  Selling crap on Craigslist is becoming more and more of a bother because of these scammers.  Great concept - but people are taking advantage!

JOE I received the same e-mail from a CL ad. Did you actually send them info? since you received the check? what happened after you reported it?
I wonder if these people are id theft people :S

I got the same message here in Anchorage Alaska. I responded without checking the number first...duh! I got another email from them "thank you for responding..." The email address is v.point@yahoo.com from View Point

Wow!  How come this person is still active?  The phone number is what stopped me.  I went to white pages and saw it was a landline in Maryland.

They're pulling the same stuff in Austin!

Got the same email as all of you did, but when I said I wanted a USPS money order, I got nothing but silence.  Sounded fishy as hell anyway...maybe they're trying to forge a USPS money order now!

I have also received the same exact things from this. Has anyone sent anything to the police and if so did it do a thing.

I also received a similar message and responded before checking the area code and number.  I got a similar response; gift for family member, etc.  I have had nothing but stupid responses (for example, I have a $900 Teak Bench/couch on there and have gotten responses that say nothing but $100) or this response to my ad on Craigslist.  I will not be listing there in the future.

Just got this respone to an ad I have on craigs list and glad I looked here. Although the name and email are diff't the scammer is the same...

Forgot to tell y'all I responded to their email with the link for craigslist terms of use and a told them they have been reported... They are likely not in the USA... most scams like this are either in India or one of the African countries... Either way it's good there are sites like this one!!!  Thanks!!!

Got the exact same messages from Maria today...  I wish we could set these people up and take them down!
