It would’ve been great for me to just come in person and examine what I’m about to buy but my work schedule just wouldn’t let me nonetheless I trust the details provided is sufficient; conversely, more pictures will be deeply appreciated. They are still running this scam.
I turned it around a little though.
I figured out his scam on the first email and had him send his "check" to the local police department, addressed to the Chief of Police.
The scammer is sending the same email that a lot of you got, but has added that he is in the U.S. Navy and stationed in the Gulf.

Morning;

As I previous stated that I have been in communication with the man in charge of the movers as to how to proceed and he has asked that their funds be used to buy MoneyPak; he stated that it’s the only reliable form of payment they've trusted for quite some time. Below are the locations he said you can buy MoneyPak from.

CVS,   WALGREENS,   RITE AID   AND   7 ELEVEN.

Please do let me know your schedule for the week regarding pick-up as I have some other properties to be moved alongside your pool table.

Again; please act according to our agreement, after deducting your money for the pool table, please use the rest of the funds to buy the MoneyPak the man in charge of the movers said they trusted; you can buy the card I’m told at any of the above locations close to you and please get back to me with the pin numbers at the back of the MoneyPak card; so as to forward the pin to the movers to confirm the payment and update them with the time for the pick-up at your location.

Also feel free to deduct an additional 20 bucks for your hassle in helping me buy the Moneypak for the movers (I mean no disrespect); my hope thou is that one of the locations won’t be far off from you as I honestly don’t want to stress you.  

Please scratch the back of the card and send the picture of the scratched back (The MoneyPak PIN that is) to my email as soon as you buy the card.

My gut tells me I can trust you with the Over-payment and it has certainly never failed me; Your Honesty and transparency is deeply appreciated.

Me: Yep - interested? 301 area code tho - I only deal locally no shipping- cash only face to face
Scammer: (no response- I waited like 10 minutes)
Me: ??? (Again, no response)
Me: What if I said I was willing to except a check from out-of-state or another country? Would you still be interested?
Scammer: Ok, i will like to purchase it asap, i am very much okay with the price, but i wont be chanced to come around to check it properly, am currently at Out of the state, I will be paying you via check so after the check has been deposited and it cleared by you i will ask my mover's to come for the pick up at your location and i will add $50 to it for keeping it for me, thanks.
Me: I'm not stupid. How do you people sleep at night? I have been scammed in this way before. Blocking your number

These people think Americans are all rich and so they are just an untapped endless well of money. Beware, they will scalp you for everything you are worth!

He is still at it. Obviously the money his uncle in Nigeria left in a secure lock up at "the airport" has all gone.

She's a scammer through creigslist, did it to me few days ago

She stated her name was Jessica and wanted to purchase the couched. She said she would pay the full amount via paypal.

This is urgent and i need your response. I just found out that my Assistant overpaid you. The payment meant for another item was made out in your name and sent to you. However I want to believe I wont have a problem with you on this. Once you receive the payment, Please proceed to the bank and cash the payment, deduct your money and send back the Balance to me through western union. So I can proceed with arrangement for pick-up. Once more, I hope I can fully trust you with this? I will await your response on this so my mind can be at ease.

If you read some of the above posts, the workings of this scam would be obvious. They overpay with a fake check then have you send the money via Moneypak or Western Union or the like to their "movers/shippers" which is actually the scammer.  Next you get a call from your bank about a bad check and you are out all that money and the scammer is no where to be found.

Something similar happened to me also. I think Craigslist should start monitoring this better. Maybe they should have a buyer pay craigslist and then pay the the seller. There is too many cyber security issues.

Or you could just follow Craigslist suggestion, deal in cash only and meet at a place that is safe.  Many police stations offer their premises for just that purpose.
