Saw number on caller ID with description "Police Protective".  I looked up the phone number and it is listed as belonging to "John H Farrell (301) 762-6650".  I did not return the call because the information did not match the caller ID.

Received phone call from this number, 301-762-6650, didn't answer, caller ID revealed Police Protection.

I answered and they asked for my mother, who contributed to them last year. Thanks for the site, I will have to tell her. Good thing she only gave $25.

I was in Law Enforcement for 14 years and NEVER heard of these guys.  When my wife explained that we could not afford a donation right now, they hung up in the middle of her answer.  I would recommend that you ONLY donate to your local police or sheriff's department, and not just some organization using a fancy-sounding police name.  Remember, these guys are just hourly telemarketers who are probably bonused on commission.  Don't think for one minute that you are speaking to a real police officer trying to raise money for another officer in distress or to buy a bullet-proof vest for officers.  If in doubt, ask a lot of questions and don't give them any money unless you are sure!  Call the police and report anything suspicious.

I strongly recommend that you read the press release from Montgomery County that is mentioned on this page.  These guys are hucksters who are, for their own protection, not even living or calling from this State.

This non profit employs over 200 people, the CEO receives a appropriate salary for the nature of business. If you take 2.01 mil subtract the CEO and CFO's salarys and then divde the remaing amount by 200. No one in making a killing and they do valuble work that is appreciated by many in the law enforcement field.

Mr. Duncan is a piece of work himself. Duncan is known to have taken money from Jack Abramoff. This whole press release from him was a publicity stunt to take pressure off that was comming from all sides from his dealings with Jack. If you really delve into the story you will see nothing ever came of it because this charity is not a scam. They do what they say they do and they are completely transparent. They are not "Hucksters" they do not reside in state because they are a national organization. The press release from the County Exec. Duncan was a stunt to take pressure off him for he had taken money form Jack Abramoff. If you notice their has been no more press releases because nothing came of the investigation. Received phone call today at 2:03. I just let it ring because this number has called my residence several times before.  Caller ID reads Police Protection and the phone number 1-301-762-6650. I've reported this number to the Do Not Call Complaint On-line about 5 times now and they still keep calling.  Nothing gets done, so in the mean time I have to put up with annoying phone calls, like this, to my home.  Good luck to those who try to report this number because nothing will stop them from calling unless you get an unlisted phone number.  The Do Not Call Registry is a joke.

Called at 8:40PM, August 21st 2007. Picked up and phone cut off.

I've researched the address. Mr. Farrel sold the property on 04/06/2006.  I was about to stop by and bring my team...the Montgomery County S.W.A.T. Team.  
They called my house tonight while I was on a raid and freaked my wife out.  She thought it was "the call".

It was around 6:30pm and they hung up when she answered.

I will investigate further.

Received one of these calls today, first time ever. Caller ID read "Police Protection", so I thought it might be important and picked it up. When I answered, a man said "Is your mother or father home?" I responded with "Excuse me?" and he said "What?!" in a hostile tone and I said "Who is this?" and he hung up on me.

They called around 6:12 pm and left no message. Tried to call back and received a busy signal.

Saw this number on my caller ID. It came in at 3:24 pm Sept 10. No message on  the answering machine. I also tried to call the number back and got a busy signal.

Called but left no answer on machine.
I've seen this before.
Just don't answer the calls.
I don't think they are really related to the police.

I am on the Do Not Call Registry; however, I think most people are missing a key sentence on the DNCR site: "The National Do Not Call Registry does not limit calls by political organizations, charities, or telephone surveyors."  If they are a police charity, they can still call you.   However, being a 301 number that called me, I have a friend who is a Maryland Police Officer, and I will ask him to check it out and see what the best thing to do in preventing this harrassing "Police Protection" call from this scam artist.

Called Sept 14, 07.  No one was there when I picked up.  Called around 8:15pm.
