i do not know if it is valid or not but when i called to return call to me she took my info then said she had to transfer me then i got a recorded message saying the number you are trying to reach is not a valid number...i then called their 1-800 number and talked to one of their representatives who sounded more professional to me...the 302 # called me again later after the matter had been resolved...i didn't answer the phone.  i suggest using the 1-800 # then don't have to be concerned if the 302# is valid or not..as to writing what know about, don't know everything and neither does anyone else...do know there are bunch of scams out there and it's better not to guess and be mistaken

I made changes to my BofA credit cards yesterday, however it was not an address change. This morning I got a call from 302-731-1166, didn't answer and told me to call back the number 1-866-518-1695. I got put on hold for a couple minutes, then a lady answers. I asked what company this was and she just said "Card Services".  She said the reason I got this call was because there were changes made to my credit account. Which was true, but it wasn't an address change. She told me if I gave her my full account info she will be able to tell me more about it. I told her I don't feel comfortable doing that, she told me that's fine and told me to call the number on the back of my card instead if I want to.

So it might be legit. I'm not going to call anyone at this point, I'll just diligently monitor my account online for now.

This IS Bank of America.  The smart choice is to never give them information and just call the # on the back of your credit card.  I got a call from the # today.  I called the # on the back of my credit card and they suspected fraud.  Thankfully, it wasn't.  They just weren't used to us buying beer and Chinese food.

Received call from this number.  It is the fraud dept for American Express as well.   Call was legit.  My American Express card was scammed, and as a result the account was closed and new account opened.

That actual number is legit, but doesn't mean it's not a scammer on the line.  Number called from could be faked.  If they're asking for the card # it's a scam.

Yes, this is Bank of America.  They were confirming a change I made to my account.  Of course do not give out any information to anyone who calls you from this number, but definitely give BOA a call back.

I just got a call from this number (04/02/2013 around 5 PM CST), and I googled it because I didn't know it. I'm glad i did.I called the number back, because you guys said it was from card services. I currently work for a large bank. BOA is a large bank. NO WAY IN HE!! IF YOU CALL THIS NUMBER BACK WOULD YOU GET A PERSON RIGHT AWAY, and that is exactly what happened. The guy on the phone was foreign, sounding of Middle Eastern or African descent, asking me for my card number. I asked what company this was for, and he said "card services". I then said that I have different cards from different companies, and he then asked for my social security number. I then told him to kindly put sugar and his gas tank to improve his gas mileage.

    I hope this helps.

I got the call yesterday, I called BoA and they did not know anything about fraud. I call the 302 number back and after dancing around a bit I found out that a vendor that I used had been hacked and a list of cc numbers stolen. A new card has been sent by mail and the present card is good until 4-9 with no liability to me for fraud. I was only asked for public info to verify. I agree with the post above if they asked for you cc number that would be a fraud attempt.

    BoA customer replies to Theresa
This is legit. Got the call from this number. Called BoA customer service using number on back of my card just in case it was a fraud.  BoA had haulted service on my credit card because they saw a charge from a different state than I was in.  Verified the charge (to a company based in that state) and credit card was reinstated.

If you're worried about it being a scam, just call BoA directly and don't even bother listening to the automated message (like i did).  I'm too paranoid to do anything differently.  I'm pretty sure technology today allows for phone numbers to be imitated / hacked, so it's not surprising that some people are calling this a scam.  Maybe that sort of thing happened to them.

It is possible a scam is making use of this number's Caller ID.  I have gotten so many of these scams that I had to buy a phone system that blocked these calls.  They will just call and call.  It seems it's easy to fake caller ids these days

So both sides of this argument might be right.  In my case, when I did call BofA (credit card phone number) they said this was their number and they did detect what they thought was a fraudulent charge and had called me.

I told them they should put BofA in the Caller ID.  Otherwise am I supposed to call ALL of my credit card companies to check if the fraud alert was from them???  ... or just the usual scam??  The usual caller ID of 'credit card fraud' has been scams in my experience.

The people who are saying that it's fraud are borderline [***] paranoid idiots. It's Bank of America. If you want proof, go try using the card they're calling you about. It won't work again until you call in.

    A Bank of America customer
Thank goodness they called and alerted me to fraud on my Credit Card, didn't take the call but soon after got an email instructing me to contact them.  Followed up by going on line and my account had been suspended and I then contacted number on their web site...all is well and I praise them for being on top of those that used my card illegally.

This number is indeed Bank of America's fraud department. You will be asked for your zip code, and whether several charges made against your account are valid.

If the caller asks for any other information, you should indicate that you wish to hang up and call a trusted number. Caller ID can be spoofed, and this number could potentially be presented by someone other than BoA. Never give credit card information on an inbound call. Period.

i got a call from this number and didn't answer. i googled the number and found your string.  so i logged into my BofA account and it stopped me b/c my account was on hold for a fraud alert.  i clicked through the options and identified a fraudulent transaction.  They will be sending me a new card.

My conclusion is that this number is most likely a true BofA number.  However, I would recommend calling them directly from the number on the back of your card or log into your online account.

    Thanks

You people sit here and argue beating a dead horse ! It's SIMPLE !

Call the Number on the Back or your card for ALL BUSINESS issues or go into a local branch ! SIMPLE !

NEVER give out ANY personel info UNLESS it is a legit number from the back of your card or from the banks website ! SIMPLE ! PERIOD END OF STORY PEOPLE !

If you get a call from a number that your not familiar with, hang up and call back so that you know your dealing with your financial institution ! Don't call a number back that someone you don't know gives you or your caller ID shows !  Look up the correct number from known resources and call back ! Yes it's a little more work and if it ends up being that the original caller was legit just apologize and tell them your just being cautious ! It's a fraud department they will totally understand !

In this era of computers and cell phones, scammers can hijack legit numbers and make legit numbers show up on your caller ID when it's not the number your really talking too ! Scammers can break into phone switches and do all sorts of things that's why if you call a number you have researched your safe !

NEVER NEVER NEVER give out personel info to incoming callers ! Again like many others have said, your bank has this info and for verification purposes they will only ask for the last four numbers of your SS number ! If they ask for the entire number BE SUSPICIOUS and never give it !

LAST BUT NOT LEAST . . . . Take care of and continually educate and remind your elder friends and family members to never ever give out any of their info ! They often get confused and pressured into giving their info to these scum bags ! What kind of low life p.o.s. preys on our elderly and steals their money they have worked an entire lifetime to earn and save ? ! Really ? These scum bags should be strapped to a tree and shot right between the eyes ! Better yet staked to a bed of red ants in the Nevada desert and left there to die a slow death ! Yes extreme but I HATE thieves that steel from the working class because they are too lazy and stupid to go out and make their own money ! Get a phuking life !

After reading all these posts I'm very confused. Every single one states its a phone number for Bank of America. This number called me today but they were not calling from any bank fraud department. A recorded message on my voicemail said.. hello and congratulations! Your application for payday loan has been approved! I have never ever applied for any payday loan! The message directed me to their website, A1A fast cash loans.com to finish the application approval details. After listening to the message I googled this number and got to this site and was shocked at hundreds of postings regarding this number were arguing over weather or not it was Bank of America! So I decided to call back this number to see what response I would get. A lady answered and announced the name A1A fast cash loans may I help you?! I ask her how they got my number as I have never applied for their service. She told me she could only research it by full name or ss number. Since I wasn't willing to give that info she said they would remove my name from the call list. I'm not saying anyone is wrong but I returned called this exact number and it was a payday loan company not a bank! However, I am the only one as all other posts talk about  Bank of America. Very strange!

After receiving several text messages from this number, I called Bank of America.  I explained I had sent in a promotion for a balance transfer last summer, but never received a response until now. Bank of America had absolutely no record of any application or account for me with them.
I also received texts asking me to call them at (302) 376-0103, which appears to be in Middletown, DE 19709 & Listed under Bank of America, Superior Home Mortgage Corp., Ajua Alemanji, and Payday Loans.
If this number is about fraud activity on existing accounts (with existing account numbers), why was I contacted?  Bank of America has NO information about any account under my name, social, or address, so... Are you a "real" person or part of the Fraud?!?
