    Bank of America Fraud.

I was very suspicious and searched the net and called a couple BofA official numbers. This number is legit; but, I would not give my SS out to random calls. I instead hung up and dialed the number on the bank of my credit card. There were fraudulent purchases on my card and I was able to close it. Nice catch BofA.

I got a call from 302-731-1166 this morning regarding possible fraud on my Visa account.  They offered a choice of verifying who I was by ZIP code or Social Security number.  I gave my ZIP code.  This really is the Bank of America fraud department; they knew every legitimate transaction I'd made in the last couple days, plus 3 fraudulent ones (to three different online dating services!!!)  I am very grateful they are looking out for their customers.  They are closing my account and Fed Exing a new Visa card with a new account number tomorrow.  I agree that their identification process could be a little clearer.  I am always reluctant to answer a call from a number I don't recognize, but if I had not answered, they would have frozen my Visa.  This happened a few months ago and although we resolved that particular questionable transaction without having to change the account number, I was unable to use my Visa card that day and had to pay cash for a couple large purchases.

This number is from Bank of America. They keep calling without leaving a message. After about a week of calling, they lock your credit card so it ends up getting declined everywhere. When you call them to re-activate your card, they argue that you were supposed to have given this unknown caller your bank account number and all your personal information! Silly me! This happens to me about twice a year. They always seem to flag normal charges, but the unusual charges they do nothing about. You can't even get them to issue a new number without closing the account.

Folks, this is Bank of America's Fraud Alert system calling you to report that there has been suspicious activity on your BOA/MBNA/FIA-issued credit card account.  Delaware is a major business center for card issuers.  Better take this call!  If you missed it, then be sure to go online and check the charges on your cards immediately.

Received 2 recording calls this morning from Card Services regarding possible fradulent activity on my card.  After reviewing this posting site I did call the number on the back of my bank card.  There was activity this morning evidently from a FTD service; small amount; BOA is cancelling the card and reissuing me a new one.  Since the charge was for such a small amount my thought is that they are following the charges generated by the FTD service.  I have had BOA call me directly several years ago ... much better than with this recording they are now using.

I got a call from this number too, I reported it to the FBI headquarters. Its a bunch of spammers trying to get personal info(passwords account # ids, etc) never give such information. They say they are from bank of America, but its not a 1800- number. I traced the # and it came from Newark,NJ and provider Verizon wireless. No information on the name yet, but i will find  soon who is doing this!

I got call from 302-731-1166, but I did not pick it up. I googled this number and came to this site. Thanks to all the users for their posts. I also received an email from bank of america stating that there is some irregular activity on my credit card. I checked my credit card account online and I was directed to visit the bank of america's fraud protection page where I saw about 25 transactions from a merchant authorized by me for an auto-payment. When I called up the merchant, they stated me that those were failed payment transactions (looks like 25 charge attempts for the same transaction) and would disappear off my card eventually. Hence I approved all these transactions on my bank of america fraud protection page and I would check back in a couple days if they appear on my credit card statement. But I am just wondering why I got call from this number even after approving the transactions on the bank of america's fraud protection website. If they call me again, I will pick up the call.

I have received a couple calls from this phone # and finally the 2nd call they left a voicemail. I already knew it was Bank of America from these postings and so I was already on the phone with them. Instead I just called the customer service # on the back of my card. It's a good thing I did call because there has been fraudulent charges to my credit card and I had to close the account!

My mother received a call from (302) 731-1166 while she was on the phone with someone else.  We checked the number online and were concerned about the relationship to possible fraud.  We contacted Bank of America directly from their official 1 800 number and spoke with one of their representatives.  They confirmed that this 302 number is one of their numbers and that, if they are contacting you, they have identified an instance or liklihood of fraudulent charges being brought against your account.  If you get a call, follow up with Bank of America to endemnify yourself against the costs and to make yourself aware of any possible indentity theft.  Bank of America's site https://www.bankofamerica.com/index.jsp
Under the "contact us" page, you can find the 1 800 # for your location.

Also got called by 302.731.1166. Called back and just got a long wait time, no one picking up music playing. Thanks for your info here, folks.
I have already replaced my BofA Visa once due to fraud. Hoping not to have to again. No new charges on the account.

Man, you have to stay so on your toes these days... Thanks again.

Called on my cell. No answer when I called back; just recorded music and a female voice requesting that I wait, due to unexpected high call volume.

Others on this site identified the number as associated with fraud.

Yes, in fact I did get a fraudulent charge of $303 from some company in Spain called something like "IS Allemagne". Now my account is closed and B of A has refunded the money.

Don't give any information to 302.731.1166. After they call, go check your credit card charges from the last day.

    Watch out
I just received 2 phone calls today and an email to my personal email account, and did exactly what has been posted on here. I called the BOA # on the back of my card, and as everybody else has said, I have charges that were trying to be posted to my account from a company I've never heard of. Luckily, BOA declined it, and they have ordered me a new card.

It was Bank of America's Fraud Dept!!
I just got a call from this number and did not pick-up because I did not recognize it. I looked up the number on the internet and found this site, so I phoned the 800 number on the back of my card - The number WAS Bank of America trying to contact me about Fraud to my card. Appearently, most of their Fraud Depts are located in the 302 area code. It turns out that a company had tried to charge something to my card without my concent. My account is now closed - I am very greatful for this webpage! Call your bank back - it can only help.

I missed a call from this number, which called me just as a merchant was telling me my account was on hold. They did not leave a message, and I did not pick up.  Called the 800 number on the back of my card and resolved the problem.  I had made some out-of-the-ordinary purchases and I guess that flagged my account.  Glad I looked this up!  Thanks guys.
