I get calls from these CLOWNS all the time.  They are either of Asian or Indian persuasion, never American (known by the thick accents of their voices).  They call from a loud and noisy pool of telemarketer, scammers and have absolutely no concern for the American intelligence.  They say, "My name is .......... and I am calling from the Windows Technical Department".  I like to play with them, play stupid and piss them off.  I asked what they meant by "windows", they will respond that they are from Microsoft and they can see that I am having problems with my Windows program.  I tell them I just got new double pained windows and they are wonderful, keep my house nice and toasty.  Then they say, "no your computer program Windows".  I tell them I have no computer.  They question that, "You don't have a computer?"  I tell them no and then let them have it and tell them I was able to keep them on the line long enough to trace them and that they better pack and move their operation because they are being watched and we know that the number 1-307-243-5143 is not the number they are calling from.  They usually forget that they called to rob me and just hand up the phone.

This is a very sad world we live in with this modern technology that has opened up such avenues to allow ourselves to be ripped off by these scammers through avenues that we created, without being smart enough to find a way to ensure security.

A well-publicized scam.  I told him he'd have to talk to my father and set the phone aside for ~10 minutes.  He was still there! So I hung up.  5 minutes later he called back, asking why I hung up.  I told him he would have to ask my father, and wasted another 10 minutes of his time.  Then I hung up and set the call-blocker.  I guess time is not money where he is calling from.

Had a call 1/9/15 around 7:30 pm from 307-243-5143.  A man with a heavy accent informed me that he was from Microsoft and my computer was not running right and could I set down in front of the computer while he did the fix.  He was told he was a scammer and call was terminated on my end.

Anyone out there with computers should be aware of this scam.

I received this call today and didn't answer it. I'm happy to see others posting their experiences with these calls. I never plan to answer any calls if I don't recognize the number. I've learned from family and friends a long time ago never to answer these calls.

I don't think Microsoft would be calling you unless you personally made a call to them and they were returning your call and that's unlikely because normal protocol would have you calling and waiting on hold for help with someone. Never give these people any personal info, especially the last 4 digits of your social security number!!

This number 307-243-5143 came up Name Unknown and if it was Microsoft (highly doubtful) caller ID would have identified it with a number that was associated with them. Don't they know that most people Google phone numbers of people that they don't know?!?! That's a no brainer! 😊 Stay safe everyone!!

When I get calls from numbers that I don't know, I simply unplug the phone line since my phone sits on the kitchen counter. Lmao!!

Just remember to wait a few minutes and don't forget to plug it back in! 😁

I would love to answer some of these calls and play major head games with them.

I could say What?? I am deaf and can't hear you!!! What??!!

Please hold on a minute and just lay down the phone.

Hang on a sec, I have another spam call coming in....😁

Can you wait until I go and get my bank, credit card info? They will probably hold on the line FOREV

These clowns have been torturing me for months saying that they are from "Windows" and that my "sick computer has contacted them for their technical help" (that's a laugh!).   I've tried everything from ignoring their calls (which sometimes are twice a day), and by continually reporting them to the federal Do Not Call Registry, and even blasting them with my air horn!  Nothing works!  I've even explained I'm a retired programmer so definitely know how ridiculous their claims are, and that always ends with them instantly hanging up on me.  Their ploy one time was to get me to log on to a particular website.  Of course, I did not... but I acted like I had just to see if I could glean information about them to better report them.  When the Indian guy on the line asked me what I was seeing on the website, I could see that his objective was to make an obscene phone call.  These are sick individuals who are harassing the public!  I get calls from not just the (307) 243-5143 number (in Arlington, Virginia), but also (307) 243-5143 (in Cheyenne, Wyomming), both using the same ploy that they are with Windows and my computer has contacted them with a problem.  Always the calls are from men with thick Indian accents, but today's call was a woman - so I guess they are an equal opportunity employer!  For sure, they need to be shut down - regardless if their intention is obscene phone calling or money making scams!

    NOT A DUMMY!
I got this call from a woman (heavy accent) asking if she could talk with, "my last name" mispronounced badly,,, since many legitimate caller do that, I asked who was calling.  She said it was from the technical dept.  So, I asked what company? She repeated technical department.  What company?  She says you got a computer?
At that time I KNEW IT WAS A SCAM and hung up.
Checked the # so it's being blocked off.
THANK YOU TO ALL THAT TAKE THE TIME TO REPORT THIS THINGS.  TO MANY CAN'T RECOGNIZE SCAMS.

Got a call from this number this afternoon on my cell phone.  Could barely understand him but he managed to identified himself as Microsoft tech calling to check the problem with my Windows software.  Said I had no idea what he was talking about and hung up.  FRAUD!!!

Man called with Indian accent claiming to be from Microsoft and that my computer has sent thousands of error messages to the Microsoft server.  He said he has my Windows product key. He asked me to initiate a keyboard combination to start a fix. I told him no and he threatened to cancel my Windows license.  I then decided it was a scam and told him OK. I looked up my Windows activation product key and told him I am looking at it. He then insist on me running the keyboard combination. I told him no I am looking at the product key. He then yelled at me "I gave you a direct command". I then hung up. He called back but didn't answer. Number now blocked.

I am 0n the Central Coast of California in San Luis Obispo County...have gotten calls from these folks twice so far... same deal, Microsoft wants to fix my computer.. Indian Accent.. same guy... what is different and a little more dangerous about these guys to the less experienced computer user is that when you doubt them as I did, and told them I would have my tech support people call him back about it, instead of hanging up as I expected, or getting rude or vulgar... he gave me a supposed name and number to call him back complete with an extension number ( of course it doesn't really reach anyone)... some innocents might be wrongly assured by this and agree to go ahead and give them access to their computer... don't fall for phony return numbers, hang up on them. Microsoft is not making outbound calls to help anyone!
