hey to everyone im in the navy and my wifes phone got the call if it were a base the prefix 409 and all other numbers in the 4705 up and down to a certain point would also be base numbers. they are not the scary thing is that i was in mississippi for katrina and the navy managed to put our ssn#ers and phone numbers on a non secure web site this may also be taking place! i will go to ncis in the am and futrther the investgation!

We also received a call from this number at 6:30 pm. My telephone number is unpublished so I would like to know how these people got a hold of it. My husband is also in the military. He has already had his identy stolen once so I hope this is not another issue like that. If anyone finds anything out please post it. Thank You

I recieved a call at 1200 am Caller ID States DEPT OF DEFENSE.
my wife took the call they asked for me by name and rank. I attempted to call back and got that the voicemail is full. Tri-care sends letters to peoples homes with access numbers when you call. They never ask for verification of any personal information. They already have it.
I cant wait till he calls back Gonna tell him I am Jimmy Hoffa.

On Thur Oct 16, 2008 5:29PM I recived a missed call notification. The number was 312-409-4702 from Illinois . I got worried that it might be someone from the DoD trying to reach me because i an in the Military. So I returned the call. A recording  stated that the DOD mail box was full and i was disconected. I got worried and decited to goole the number which led me to report this call.

My father got a call.  He is prior military and but my brother is active duty.  I am really curious what would be a good way to report this to the actual DoD.  People should not be preying on our soldiers or their families!  I am interested to see what kind of scam this is.

I recieved another call today and decided to conduct my own survey. I told him I would not answer any questions untill I could verify who they were he gave me the website it is a collaboration of the DOD and VA http://fhp.osd.mil also gave me a phone number can be reached monday thru friday 0730 - 1700 forgot to ask which time zone the number is 1-800-497-6261, this number is on the . mil website. These guys may be legit, the number assigned would belong to the DOD and no they dont have to be at DC to have a call center as part of a joint project. I HOPE THIS HELPS YOU ALL

I've been getting calls from this number for a week. I haven't answered, and they don't leave messages. I called them back today, and it goes straight to voicemail. The greeting says something like "the mailbox belonging to... "department of defense"... is full." This is complete [***]. It sounds like its just a con-man with a cell phone. Next time he calls, I'll answer and find out everything I can.

Like all other post.I got a call from 312-409-4702 and I didn't answer the phone and i decided to call back and it went to voice mail and said mailbox full and department of defense and i kno better than a call coming from chicago. I wouldn't advise no one to answer this call and like all others i am also military.

today is 3 nov 08 and i just received a phone call from 312-409-4702, came up department of defense being my husband is in the military, i answered it.  There was no one on the line, so i hung up and call the number back only to get the same message as everyone else.  What is going on, and why anyone know?  thanks

Need to know if you can track this number (13124094702), could be a security breach on prior and present military members.  Let me know if you can find any info out, after people that have worked for the VA took there CD disks home with many prior and present SSN's numbers on them, also to include other records, we need to figure out whats going on.

I have been going nuts trying to figure out who would be calling me from this number. I finally decided to search the web. I am so glad I did. I thank all of you for your in put. You are correct, if this is lagitament a message would have been left for you to call back and the person would have said their name and rank.

It's not a cell because I sent an SMS (text) message to it. I received a repsonse back asking if I wished to have my text sent as a voicemail because the line is a land line. The mailbox response is one as though it were a cell phone.

I recieved the same call tried to return the call and got the message.  With the Chicago area code there is a place called great lakes I think its a navy base which handles most tricare dental issues.

I  also got a call from the 312-409-4702 today Nov 9,2008. I didn't call it back. I googled it and found these posts. I didn't get to the phone in time. but when I looked at the caller ID  it said DOD. The area code and number did not match where my husband works so I did not return the call.  Thanks for the input.

Got this call on 08JAN09.  Didn't recognize the number so I didn't answer it.  Looked up the area code, found it was Chicago.  I don't know a single person from that area, even though I'm active duty military.
I found this site when I checked on the number.  Hope this person is stopped...as if the military is targeted enough by people trying to scam us!

im prior military and i agree it sounds like a scam i did a little research and the number appears to be from chicago illinois in cook county and says its a land line but the voicemail sounds of a cell phone. whomever it is keep ignoring it and dont give any personal info.
