They are leaving no message.   Calling every hour and a half!!! Have not called back to see who is calling, and they leave no message.

Tried to call back and got a busy signal

I started getting calls last Saturday, and they never left a message. I just picked up the phone the other day and they said they were with the Illinois Health Department and asked if I would like to answer a few questions. I asked them how they got my number, and that I didn't want to answer questions. The man hung up on me straight away. They just called again a few minutes ago, only this time they left a message. All it sounded like was firecrackers going off with static in the background. I am not happy, and will be trying to get this number blocked from my phone.

Claimed to be with Pew Research, which is a real data collection/survey group that does research. Wanted to know if I was Jewish...

Also got call from this number, I declined answer & hung up! But got two more calls within 30 mins. I asked to take of the list but he said they don't have a list so I told him not to call this number again!

Got a call from them today on my cell. I didn't pick up.  After reading this column of comments, seems like the best thing to do is not to answer the call at all.  Really, stop and think.  Do you know anyone in Chicago or the  312 area?  Why would you answer it

Called me as well and left a message about needing my help with a research study! Are my medical records open to the public!? When I tried to call the number back to inquire about where he got my information I got a busy signal.

The calls are legitimate. The caller was Abt Associates (also called Abt SRBI) http://www.abtassociates.com/. They are a professional research group handling this survey on behalf of the Pew Research Center http://www.pewresearch.org. I just spent 20 minutes on the phone with a senior researcher at Pew confirming the validity of the survey and its purpose, and that yes, they were offering $50 to people who took the longer survey.

I gave the Pew researcher feedback on what parts of the call aroused suspicions (the offer of $50 was a red flag). I suggested they put a note on their home page so people who are checking out the call can easily find the verification. I suggested the callers offer a number (at Pew) where we could call to verify the call. I suggested they keep an eye on these websites to see specifically what the concerns are of the call recipients.

Did they indicate why they were asking questions about Jewish heritage? For me that was the big red flag... And if they are legit, stating up front what the data is to be used for would seem appropriate.

calls my cell phone a few times a week.  I don't answer.  A message is never left.

(312) 529-9717  IL based number, they've called a few times but I don't answer now.  I've recieved calls from all over the USA over the past few years, and it all stems from a purchase several years ago with Canadian online pharmacy.  They won't stop calling me( I don't owe them money, they just want me to buy something else) I've asked to be removed from their calling list,  I've sworn, pleaded, been on hold, cannot get removed from these's people's database, stay away from Canadian online pharm., stay away from this number, don't answer it, most of them don't speak English very well, They operate out of China and Russia.

They have been calling my cell for weeks. I don't pick up
But it is not stoping. Tonight they called at 11:45PM.
How can I make them stop calling?

Answered once...Mental Survey...Hung up..still everynight...I don't answer

Numerous calls, all around 8-9 PM.  It's a scam to get info so they can use it and sell it to other telemarketers.  They claim it's a survey, which somehow tries to establish credibility, but it is not.  The more info they get, the more info they sell, and they do it rapidly.  If you answer and talk to them, your info is out on the internet for sale in less than 24 hours.

The number is spoofed.  It's not their real number.  Guard your personal info and don't give them anything to use or sell about you.  This is a hardcore information gathering organization who only want to make money off of what you tell them.  Don't cooperate.  Don't talk to them at all.

Received call today when I had turned off sound. No message left. I am going to block the
#. Can't figure out how they got my cell # as it is on the DO NOT CALL registry. I would never respond to any telephone survey....& also all other kinds of surveys. I won't answer that # or any other without ID from someone I know.

Many, many, many calls all hours of the day for the last month. I never answer; they hang up when message machine answers, then call a few hours later. Everyday there are 2-3 hang-up calls reported on my home phone.

Keep getting calls from this number,,,I will not answer, busy signal when call back.

Spoke to the caller on April 23 who said she was conducting research on behalf of the Pew Research Center. Numerous subsequent phone calls including two today (Sunday).
