- BELJON replies to NOTFUNNYNever give out any info over the phone especially when there is so much identity theft these days. They called my mother and I happened to answer the phone. They were asking for my Dad. He has been deceased for 34 years. The person from CBE ask to verify his dob and last 4 #'s of his ss#. I told her that she had the wrong # but she kept insisting that I verify the infomation she needed. I told her not to call back and that she had the wrong person. The person she was looking for was born in 1965. Now, tell me if he has been deceased for 34 years how could he possibly owe any past debts. He would have been 8 years old when he died. Do the math!!!! I will be filing harassement charges on them if they call back.
- helped onea man called me from the CBE group and while discussing the reason for the call he began to ask me some person questions about my income exct. i was a little on edge but then he explained that he might be able to get me on a hardship plan. He seemed very knowledgeable and seemed like he wanted to help me... he didnt badger me like the rest of the people i have talked to. I take my hat off to the CBE group becuase as long as you are willing to work with them the are more than willing to work with you to get your matteres resolved. Thanks
- ilene| 1 replythey keep calling, and i keep ignoring them!

- ShellThe man on the other end of the phone actually called me a liar when I said he had in no way contacted my mother.(I had just spoken to my mother) This company is trying to settle a debt which I settled with the Discover Card company over 10 years ago! They are rude, obnocious and call my house and cell phone three times a day at ungodly hours in the morning. When I asked him to quit calling he told me he had not contacted me before. I reminded him of my caller id and read three attempts from the same number in the same day. He insisted he was the first person to contact me from the company..the company which he refused to divulge any information on. They are horrible.

- frustratedWe are repeatedly getting calls/faxes from this number & when I call them back they say they will stop the calls/faxes but they don't. They will say that they can't say by law what type of company that they are. I believe they are a collection agency that does not stop even when you tell them they have the wrong information & to stop calling.
- Caller: CBE Group
- Marshallthey call 3 times a day. I dont owe them
- Nick replies to ileneI have too had these calls come on my Tracfone. in my case i paid my last bill to Dish Network and cancelled the account. granted the last payment was also late but i paid the entire balance (in excess of $70) along with the late fees. they thanked me for being a customer for 4 years and wished me luck and goodbye.
Then the calls from the CBE group. at first they were from Dish, advertising new service deals for 'previous' customers (like you get with cell carriers such as ATT when you cancel, they give those 'come back to us' type calls and letters...sheesh) from 1-800-333-DISH. i ignored them since i don't want anything to do with them. then i got these LONG DISTANCE calls. they're from Waterloo,IA, and they call LONG DISTANCE which i pay for. so i never answered them until they got into an annoying habit of calling during the early dawn hours (from 1am onward) and leaving no message on my Voice Mail. they'd even ring once and hang up and the phone would ding an say 'Missed Call'. i then had someone i know call from a landline and i hopefully set them straight. going on 4 days without one peep from my phone. they claimed that i owed the exact same balance already paid in full to Dish Network. not the first time a company screws a customer almost as if to exact revenge on cancelling them. i've also paid debt collectors before and they then have the nerve months later when you think it's all over to forward the same balance to a SECOND collector and onward in a continious cycle.
They also (the CBE Group) wanted my full SSN # to 'verify this information' (in a foreign accent almost like a tech support rep) and i refused and never even gave them my name, i just told them firmly and anonymously never to call and i have my number on the Do Not Call list and would never hesitate to phone an attorney to sue if it continues.
I almost want them to call again, i'd love to play Roy D Mercer with 'em.
Naw, this ain't Nick Dalzell, this is Roy D Mercer, y'all best stop callin' me or someone's 'bout to get 'em an ass whuppin! - TiredDoes not leave any message, calls seven days a week, several times a day. If there is someone or something they want to say, why not leave it on voice mail, why just call and say nothing. Always after the call, the next call shows caller unknow, they seem to go hand in hand. Accoring to the internet the company calling is showing as Qwest

BY LAW, The calls HAVE TO STOP IF you SEND THEM A LETTER to STOP CALLING
=====================================================================
There is a US Government Law to Protect you & STOP those Harassing Phone Calls. It's called the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act - 15 U.S.C. §§ 1692-1692p
The law was enacted by Congress because "There is abundant evidence of the use of abusive, deceptive, and unfair debt collection practices by many debt collectors" - US Congress FDCPA
The full law is readily available on the net in a pdf file in easy to read format.
Under - Section 805c of the FDCPA (15 USC 1692C) all you need to do is to write a letter to the CBE group stating that you want them to cease and desist communication with you.
If CBE has been harassing you with phone calls, you can take them to small claims court. It costs $25 to $50 to file a claim, but the usual award for a violation of section 805C is around $1000. Use that money to pay off your bill. - Harley replies to MJI dont owe any money they call my number 3 times a day at all hours asking fro someone whom i dont even know. i have told them this time and time again and yet the calls continue it is getting extremely annoying and angering

- kelly| 6 repliesI kept missing their calls as they always found the perfect time that I was either sleeping, in the shower, or at work. Finally caught one!
The woman was very helpful and explained just who she was calling from and what they did. She never asked for my social, but she did verify my address. It's CBE Group out of Waterloo, Iowa - they're a debt collection service. I guess they collect for a lot of different companies, but mine is for a student loan that I let default because the Government Education Department won't accept my payment from a prepaid card.
After having a pleasant chat with Kayla, she gave me the 800 number to call her back -- 800 410 8089.
If you know you owe money, grow up and pay it. Stop making excuses and acting like a victim when people try to collect from you. Yes, CBE harasses you - because they want you to pay what you owe.
If you don't actually owe money, then by all means tell them to stop and threaten legal action. But they're never going to stop unless you pick up the phone!- Caller: CBE Group

- i'll get you backThe best way to handle this company is to do what they are doing to you! call the back and ask the same question the asked you when they called you. Ask the Rep if you can speak to "CBE Group" as if they were a person, do say why. Respond to them the same way they responded to you when they called your home. Then disconnect the call. Oh ya! make sure you call them atleast 10 time a day or as often as you can. (block your phone/cell number). This will piss them off as much as they have pissed you off

- Or...| 3 repliesYou could be mature about it and handle the matter. If you are not the person that they are looking for, why would they call you back? All you have to tell them is "Wrong Number." If it is you, stop being a piece of lowlife scum and pay your bills so that future college students can get student loans.

- RDThey called, refused to tell me what it was about, said it was a 'personal financial matter.' When I asked what it was about, he refused to tell me until I identified myself. I asked what he would do if I refused to answer his questions until he told me the nature of the call. He said he would continue to call me. this is harrassment, and I do not even know what it is for. I've been scammed before, so I hung up and researched this phone number (319-274-1910), saw it was some sort of collection agency. From what I've read, I'm glad I did not give them any personal information.
