- BigA replies to YadiraYou need to look up "Caller ID Spoofing" and completely read and understand what it is before you go doxing what is probably an innocent party.
- George BradleyThis is CVS call center or a contractor representing CVS (not a local CVS). You probably have someone in your household with a CVS Rx needing a refill or renewal or delivery of mail order medications. Asking for name and DOB is required (HIPAA law) to discuss meds. You may not receive mail or meds (or pill packs) if you ignore this call.

- Zoey replies to BobCalling people name go back to your doctor and get your medicine in a higher milligrams.
- Thomas Absher replies to CarolWhat can happen is a real patient, their doctor’s office, GAVE THEM your phone number and/or that of a person with your phone number (sometimes decades before you). They call and immediately ask your date of birth because it’s illegal (HIPAA) for them to give out protected health information or identifying information to anybody but the patient.
Even:
CVS: Is this Thomas Absher, what’s your date of birth?
You: Who is this calling?
CVS: “sorry, because I told you your name I can’t tell you who this is because that would identify you as a patient of ours”
Or: “You filled a prescription here on XXX” to my friend who answered MY phone.
BTW- if you give me your phone number I can find out your date of birth, even without being a healthcare provider. No one is going to scam you this way. It’s a waste of effort for scammers. It’s how health providers identify WHO SOMEBODY IS IDENTIFYING THEMSELF AS. Yes, it is so they can make sure who you are identifying yourself as is the same person as they believe they are treating, not that those are the same people. - BradI wear hearing aids and sometimes have a hard time with phone conversations. The first time I was called from this number I was in a crowded store and could not understand what was being said, so I hung up. The next day I received another call from this number. It was a legitimate call from CVS informing me that the store I had been using was closing (which I already knew) and that my prescriptions would be transferred to a newer CVS store in the same city (Augusta, Maine). That was the extent of the call. Except for asking if they were speaking to "Brad", they did not request any personal information.

- JoeThis is the CVS Outreach service for current users. They called twice, I called back and got a recorded message that said if you received a call from this number they'll try and call back at a later time. I've been trying to deal with their pharmacy for days on the mail order side. There is also an option to have your number removed. The recording also provides an 800 number to call but I think it's just the main line that drops you into the Customer Service Que.

- Joseph IzakI received a phone call today at 1:22 p.m. and it came up CVS health on my caller ID. I don't recall if the woman told me her name or not but she said she needed to verify information on my account. Not meaning to racial profile but she sounded like she was from somewhere in Africa. She asked me my name and birth date and I gave it to her which afterwards I realized I should not have. She then asked if I had my insurance card handy and I told her no because I wasn't going to give her the information. Then she said okay we'll go on to the next question and I cut her off and said I'm sorry but I don't feel comfortable giving out any personal information over the phone because there are too many scams going on. I also said CVS Pharmacy has all my prescription information and my insurance information at the pharmacy that I go to and I don't need to be verifying anything. I said goodbye and ended the call. I had an afterthought after I hung up with her and I should have told her if you need anything verified send me a letter with the information that you need and if it's being sent to a legitimate CVS Health office I will return it. I called CVS Health customer service and they told me I did the right thing as this was most likely a scam and she said CVS will never call asking to verify any kind of information on your account. You will only receive calls from your Pharmacy about your prescriptions. Please everyone be careful out there because there are many people trying to scam us.
