As far as not having any more calls from debt collectors, you may only ask over the phone that such calls not be made to your place of work. Otherwise you must send a written letter to the agency to have them cease. The exception to all this is if the collection is for back-owed child support, in which case they can by law, make known publicly to family, friends, employers, neighbors and such that you are behind in your child support payments, and advertise that fact until such time as you pay what is back owed.

Gallup Poll or not... they can have their Caller ID on.... so at least we know who is calling....

Good grief people, now that you know that the phone call is from the gallup poll, just answer the phone and say "no thank you" or take the poll. Pretty simple

Thank you for the information.  I will put it to good use because I get many unwanted phone calls all through the day and into the night.  I will clearly tell them that I do not want to receive any more of their calls and to please stop calling.  My question is however, what if they do NOT stop calling?  If they are debt collection agencies, what can I do to make them stop calling?

I do not want to answer surveys from Gallup Poll. They will not quit calling. They are bothersome. Especially when I have to hang up on another caller to answer a incoming beep only to find out it is only the Gallup poll. Please quit the calls!

Just got a call conducting a survey on financial service practices. When I refused to give info on the bank I used, the caller said that was the end of the survey. This is a scam...not Gallup.

You are right Paul....  they are not the real Gallop Poll.  They are a collection agency using a false Gallop Poll Inc psydoname.  The collection agencies use these fronts to get info on the person at the phone nbr they are calling to verify whether you are the right contact to provide them info on someone they are searching for or you are the person they are looking for.  Two collection agencies that use this technique are Receivables Performance Management and Absolute Resolutions.....  sure there are many more........

I just called and left a message asking them to stop calling.  They request names and numbers.  I hope this is not another strategy to collect valid names and numbers for some telephone list somewhere!!

Yes, that is true. But they are asking for money, correct. US PEOPLE don't want to be bothered. It's annoying!  I'm sorry that was your job, i can understand how frustrating that would be, BUT do NOT call is do NOT call!  Simple.

I just want to know why they keep calling my fax machine.  I thought robo-dialing was done away with, but obviously not if they keep calling a FAX MACHINE.

I have received 6 or more calls from these idiots, always around 2-3pm, never answered one and wish they would leave me alone.  To return their call is long distance for me (California) why should I have to pay my $$$$$$$$ for their survey?

They are a Bill Collection Agency.... not the real Gallup Poll.

I checked them out. They are legitimate. It is Gallop poll and they were doing a survey on how my bank conducts their business. They did not ask for any personal information. They were asking me to rate their performance. That is one way the bank employees get their performance evaluated. I figured since they always go above and beyond I would give them a great rating. I am always suspicious too. They are who they say they are.

You are probably naive or attempting to mislead people.  My first reaction is that you might work for these collection agencies.  Polling fronts that call people six times a day to get personal info from you are not the real Gallop Poll but are instead calling themselves Gallop Poll INC.  They are collection agencies that call a person for several days up to six times a day till you provide them the personal info they need to track the individual they are looking for under the guise of a poll.

Do you honestly feel the real Gallop Poll would call a person six times a day.... if so then you really are naive.  Open up your eyes and read the complaints.  Do they really sound like the real Gallop Poll.
