- Jose Fremonde| 1 replyThey called twice stating this is not a solicitation and stated my bank account and tax rebate checks were subjected to be seized . I spoke with a live person who knew my name, last four numbers of my Social Security, birth day and month but wanted me to verify the year and I refused. They then said legal proceedings would proceed against me. They call was listed from Campbell, CA. I called them back and asked for their mailing address and they refused on the grounds that I was not a client.

- BigA replies to Jose FremondeRefunds cannot be "seized" unless you owe taxes, student loans, child support or other certain court ordered payments. Bank accounts are also not able to be "seized" unless they go to court, win their case, and get a court order. This is a debt collection extortion scam.
It is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and (this is the important part) that they have the legal right to collect it. You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid.
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified. If and when you get that letter you should immediately send that debt validation letter by certified, return receipt mail.
First, you should make a complaint at this Federal Agency, and while there you should also read up on how debt collection is supposed to work as well as what your rights in this matter are: https://www.consumerfinance.gov/
Also file complaints with the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/#crnt&panel1-1
Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.

- BlancaReceived several calls. Some were one after the other .
- RJCaller left message stating not a solicitation & something about my accounts. Called back the 408 409 1324 just to see what they say. A male recorded voice says Tatyana you for calling CAA and to hit 1 to speak to someone, pressed one and person asked how they can help, I told him I wasn’t sure that he called me. He got a big attitude stating he didn’t call I asked who he was and what CAA was he grew even more rude and hung up on me. I probably shouldn’t have done this but I did call back (several times) I got the same person a couple times I asked again who CAA was he was still rude and I told him that i was going to report the number to the police. He told me to go ahead and hung up on me. I called again and he told me he would call immigration on me, I laughed and told him to feel free (since I am a US Citizens) he hung up on me I called back they tried to put me on hold so I called back again, they hung up immediately (yes this can be seen as harassment but isn’t that what they are doing too?!) I called again and got a girl this time I asked again who is CAA they are not listed she too was rude in her tone saying they were a 5 star legal company, I told her never heard of them and can’t find any info on them, told her I too work for a legal debt collection company she said they were NOT a debt collection company so not sure what they are claiming to do when they call. I said she was rude and she should change her attitude if she is dealing with people she told me said “ain’t Wal-Mart or Target” she can act however she wants, I said to Cease and Desist all communication then and I hung up and blocked their number and continued to search them. Totally a scam these people should be ashamed of themselves. So sad we have to deal w/BS like this. Please be aware they are a fraud company!!
