- Tina| 1 replyWow!!!!! this makes me feel alot better!!! to know I'm not alone in this... they called me at work a total of 7 times in 2 hours from (951) 543-4709 !!!!!!! Leaving me threatening messages saying if "if you do not contact our office,,, all I can do is wish you good luck as this unfolds on you"... what a group of jerks I spoke with George Miller, Allen Parker, and Alice Alexander.... Whom all barely spoke english... He told me that I took out a loan last year when I really didn't, when I told him that he told me to hang up and then that butt hole hung up on me!!! When I called back, he said to have my attorney call... and so I had my bankruptcy attorney call.. "George Miller" told my attorney to advise me to get a criminal attorney, mind you I work for a creditors attorneys office... I know all the laws and all the practices at which collection agencies HAVE TO FOLLOW..... I needed more information so I told the guy I would pay, he gave me a fax number and said I needed to fax him a notarized copy of a BS letter that he read out to me over the phone talking about how I'm sorry for what I did and I'd never do it again!!! Can you believe the nerve of this joker he wants me to apologize for something I didn't even do!!! Yeah right good luck buddy!!! But being the sucker that he is I got all the information I needed to file a formal complaint with the attorney generals office.... my attorney even says that I have enough information to file charges against these people!!! I believe there is strength in numbers!!!! All of you call your states attorney generals office!!!!!

- Kelly| 1 replyThis is exactly what I'm going through right now. They called me this morning, the guy's name was Dean Jones, but I know better since he sounded Indian and was very hard to understand. They told me that if I didn't pay $987 by 5 pm today I would prosecuted on Monday. Said the Federal Legislation of Unsecured Loans was who they were with and that they had paid off the loan to the original creditor. What's funny is, is that I never took out a loan in February of this year. I took one out in March but it's being paid off so I have no idea. It's really unnerving. When I try to get answers out of them, they are rude and won't let me know. What do I do?

- KellyWell, I'm working on filing a complaint with the Attorney's General Office of Texas and will then move onto the Federal Trade Commission. I panicked when they called earlier so I called my dad to tell him and he said to record them and ask for a payment option. Unfortunately my recorder wouldn't pick up the phone call but I did ask them and he told me no, i either paid now or went to court. Kinda fishy now that i think of it because I never took out a loan in February of 2009. I even checked my bank account to see and there was nothing. They have called me a total of 18 times today and the number that shows up on my caller ID is (810)676-161 and the other two numbers they gave me to call were 415-200-0257 or 951-543-4706 and the fax number was 714-312-5854.

- amberthese people barely spoke english, asked why i was being maliscious with a payday loan i once had that i never paid back. well i still have my account and i assured them all were paid. said i would be served papers tomorrow, at my work, my family would be called to court, my job called to court, investigator come to my job and seize my computer for subpeona, all the crazy threats. They still wouldnt tell me which payday company. said it was 200 dollars to my bank, i went and checked and never got a 200.00 loan, but different...wanted me to pay 945.00 today to stay out of jail. very mean people.
- Caller: federal legislation of unsecured loans
- amber replies to Tinai had the same number you are reporting! Called me at least 11 times within 1 hour. They wouldnt give me any information regarding the 'case' and kept on asking me 'why did you decide to decieve and be fraudulent'.....saying i need apology letter notarized by fax, and pay almost 1000.00 to them by credit card or debit. I told them i didnt own any of that, and i didnt have the money. they eventually decided to settle for payment arrangements. asked if i yet had attorney, and told them all i had were my bankruptcy attorneys...well he hung up pretty fast then. IDIOTS, but man my nerves are shot!! i felt sick after arguing with these people.
- AMBER replies to Kellyyes DEAN JONES! OMG this is crazy!!

SUCH A SCAM they called me and left a threatening message on my cell phone to call them back, so once I did I could not understand ANYTHING the guy was saying then demanded to speak to someone else, finally spoke to some other guy "Michael Woods" that told me I was going to be sued and I need a lawyer and I will be going to court tomorrow and have to pay $5000 or be sent to jail! WHAT THE F*#$?! or I can pay a balance of $682...riiiiggghhhhttt I asked for a case number which I could tell he was making up then asked about what courthouse but "couldn't give that information" now I'm getting all these 800 calls on my work phone and I know it's them trying to call me the nerve of these people honestly all I have to say is KARMA it's just like those bogus emails that say "help wire this money through and you'll get double!" This is just another one of hundreds (and perhaps even thousands) of numbers these overseas payday loan debt collection scammers are calling from:
https://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-904-425-9141:
It's a scam, and all their threats are false and illegal. The bottom line is, these are criminals trying to steal consumers' money.
Here are a few news reports and government advisories warning consumers about this scam:
ABC News: http://abcnews.go.com/Business/story?id=5621205&page=1
West Virginia Attorney General: http://www.wvago.gov/internetloanscam.cfm
WTAE TV4, Pittsburgh: http://www.thepittsburghchannel.com/call4action/17285785/detail.html
Florida Commissioner of Consumer Services: http://www.800helpfla.com/newsletter/2008/092008.html
This is a very active group of scammers, many of whom are calling from India (and probably other countries) and are in cahoots with a group of American pay day loan scammers. They attempt to extort money from consumers with a myriad of false and illegal threats, and alternately pose as debt collectors, federal and state law enforcement officers, lawyers and bankers. Their trademark is to use meaningless legalese gobbylgook phrases like "We are downloading warrants against you" or "We are filing an affidavit against you." Another trademark phrase is to threaten the consumer with something like this ridiculous phrase: "If you don't pay then only God can help you."
Typical of many financial scams of this variety, they usually demand payment via Western Union or MoneyGram or credit card. They use any number of phony names such as US National Bank, Federal Investigation Bureau, US Legal Investigation Bureau, Christian Nicholas & Associates, US Federal Bank, Sonic Bank, Hopkins Law Office, CashNet, United Legal Processing, Morgan Associates, United Pay Services, National Processing, White Collar Crime Unit and many more. These criminals also use many phone numbers from many area codes; they're probably using caller-id spoofing software and/or VoIP to disguise their real location.
The main thing to remember is that anytime someone calls you demanding money to prevent your arrest, or demanding your lawyer's name so they can sue you, it is ALWAYS a scam. No debt collector (let alone criminals posing as debt collectors) has the authority to have anyone arrested for anything. (And it's illegal to them to threaten such a thing.) And since these foreign dirtbags routinely impersonate law enforcement, it's also important to remember that American law enforcement officers aren't in the business of debt collection. (Debt is a civil, not a criminal, matter.)
A consumer posting a complaint about these same scammers at https://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-718-831-7157 notes that 718-831-7157 is associated with an India-based "outsourcing" telephone bank. Though a reverse search on WhitePages.com shows that 718-831-7157 is an unlisted land line in New York City, information on Debtbuyers.Com shows that that number is used by India-based Intellisourze. (Source: http://www.debtbuyers.com/debtbuyers.asp ) My guess is that it's a VoIP phone number.
This is another piece of the puzzle that fits in perfectly with other information about this scam. There are some reports on 800Notes that have suggested that the crooks behind this offshore scam are also the crooks behind the notorious Bass/Ellis Crosby & Assoc./States Predisposition scams in Florida and Georgia. The interesting thing is that the number of complaints on here about the US National Bank/US Legal Investigation/Federal Investigation scam skyrocketed *after* April 7, 2008 when Florida obtained a $1.3 million judgment against Ted Ellis Crosby, shutdown his operations and barred him from ever conducting debt collections in Florida (
http://myfloridalegal.com/newsrel.nsf/newsrel ... 5257424005858A6 ) There's certainly a good chance that the crooks placing these calls from India are doing so on behalf of the American crooks behind the Crosby/Bass/States Predisposition scams.
Here's the contact information for the phone bank in India:

A check on the domain name "intellisourze.com" shows that the website and name registration was created on May 8, just one month *after* the Crosby scams were shut down in Florida:

(Source: http://whois.domaintools.com/intellisourze.com )
Though scam calls from these crooks have been going on long before May 8, the frequency of complaints about these calls increased considerably after Crosby was shut down in early April.
This is conjecture, but appearances suggest that Crosby and company were originally running a two-pronged payday loan scam operation -- with some calls being made from Jacksonville, Florida and other calls being made from a phone bank in India (and possibly other countries); then, after the Florida Attorney General shut down the Crosby scams in Florida, the Crosby crooks transferred most of their scam efforts to the India phone bank.
If you are targeted by these criminals, be sure to report them to all the following federal and state law enforcement agencies (most of which you can do online or over the phone):
1) The U.S. Secret Service is responsible for protecting the country's financial infrastructure and payment systems from international and domestic threats. Call or write your local Secret Service field office to alert them to the details of this attempted extortion. The addresses and phone numbers for the local Secret Service field offices are listed at http://www.secretservice.gov/field_offices.shtml or in your phone book.
2) Alert the FBI at https://tips.fbi.gov Be sure to tell the FBI that you are being targeted by extortionists over the phone. And if the crooks claim to be law enforcement or lawyers, officers of the court or bankers, be sure to include that information in your report.
3) File a complaint with your local police. Most police departments will take a report over the phone. Be sure to tell them that you're being targeted by an extortionist and give them all the details.
4) File a complaint your state's attorney general, the contact information for whom is at www.naag.org
5) File a complaint online with The Federal Trade Commission at https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/FTC_Wizard.aspx?Lang=en
If these crooks call back, promise them nothing, pay them nothing and tell them nothing other than that you know they're a scam and that you've reported them to law enforcement. (And be sure to report them to all the agencies above each time they call you.)
By the way, here's just a *small* sample of numbers used by this particular group of scammers. Read the reports and you'll see the same pattern time and again -- phony organization names, thick foreign accents, and oddly worded threats that are so melodramatic and ridiculous that it's laughable:

- amanda replies to Lo| 1 replyI just got the exact same thing today. What they didn't know is that I do have an attorney. Actually 2. One attorney specializes in this sort of thing. I told my attorney about everything this "attorney" said and my attorney said it must be a scam. For one, they never pointed out the name of the firm they work with; only that I am being sued by the Federal Legislation of Unsecured Loans. They refused to tell me the name of the loan company I supposedly got the loan from and said that if I don't pay $900 today I'll have to pay about $4000 in the end (attorney fees, etc). According to my attorney, they legally have to give more time to pay. In other words, if it were legit, they would have had to call me weeks ago if today was the deadline. One thing I and my attorney noticed is that, when this "attorney" asked if I still worked at the job on file, I said no. They did not then ask where I work now, which is odd. Basically, my attorney pointed out everything that is wrong with this call and told me to ignore it unless I actually do receive paperwork. Oh, and I call one of my attorneys DAD. My dad is an attorney, this just isn't his specialty. I am using my other attorney (who gave me the info) if this goes anywhere. But obviously he knows something. I bet they didn't know that. hahahahahahahaha
- Luisa replies to amandaThis is crazy..I just got the same call only it came from 915-543-4948, the man claimed i took this loan out.. crazy thing is my account wasnt even open 10/08. Then when i asked him to tell me the loan company i used he refused saying that they deal with so many he couldnt keep them straight.. he said he was going to tell my employer and that i would have to pay 8000 on monday. these people are crazy and need to be stopped.
- This is hilariousI called them back for someone that works with me and gave them hell. They told me to *&ck mt eyes and that they would find me. Hilarious stuff. Just call these guys as much as possible and tie up the 2 lines that they have. They were getting so aggravated with me and cursing at me the whole time. I'm even going to look up some curse Indian curse words and call them back with it. I told them to play Slumdog Millionaire and that they'd have a better chance of getting money that way. It's actually pretty comical stuff they say back. No one should be in fear of these guys. Complete scam.

- RedBaron1972 replies to Maria| 1 replyOh my goodness. There are a bunch of us out here with these calls from someone who is representing a Bogus Federal Legislation Of Unsecured Loans Assn. I just received one from 951-643-4358 today 07/15/2009 at 1800 hrs. CST. from a man named Andy Hunt. He also spoke with a very heavy Indian accent and was very hard to understand. They demanded $912.34 from me today or else I would need to be in court with my references and Atty on Mon. July 20,2009 to stand trial. At which time my drivers license would be taken away from me and any money in my Bank would also be seized. And all other assets would be liquidated and froze. When I told them I could not afford an attorney to represent me they told me to wire them an additional $175 today and they would have an attorney there to represent me. WHAT A SCAM. The bank where the loan supposedly went to was through Account Now which is a prepaid Credit Card company. I opened my account there in Mar. of 2009 and the money was supposedly deposited into my account in Nov. 2008. They also told me to fax an appology letter which they told me word for word what to say to this Federal Legislation Of Unsecured Loans and that the letter would help me in court. Also they told me that if I gave then $172.34 today they would contact their client and setup payment arrangements for the remaining balance and that it would then be removed from the court files so no charges would be filed against me. When I tried calling the number back to tell them I raised the Money and where I needed to send it the phone rang 10-15 times then a computerized operator voice came on and told me my party was not answering and my call would now be disconnected. I have filed a Police report with my local P.D. and will be contacting the credit bureaus in the morning to put my name on there Identity theft and Credit fraud lists. That way if these fools try to scam my credit for money they will be stopped. I also plan to contact the Federal Trade Commission and the Atty. General's Office here in Wisconsin as well.
- Nicole replies to Maria| 7 repliesThese people have been calling me for 2 days I finally answered the phone and they threatened that I was being sued for Fraud and that I owed the Federal Legislation of Unsecured loans. I could barely understand what they were saying. I asked them to explain to me who this was I supposedly took a loan out with and they just started yelling saying you don't know, blah. I yelled back and said unless you can give me someone I can understand and that can explain in detail to me who this is then forget it. The thing that now bothers me is that they knew what state I was in and what bank I used, and the last four of my social. so now i have to investigate that. The phone number that showed up on my phone only had 9 numbers: 810676161 is the number that showed up.
- Phoenix07I got the same call from the Federal Legislature of Unsecured Loans described like the ones here. I got a call from a lady supposedly named "Karen" who spoke in a heavy Indian accent claiming that I owe $780.00 dollars from a loan from 2007 which they supposedly deposited in my bank account. I disputed this with her and told her I will send bank documents to prove that I never took out a loan with this company. She then proceeded to read off a list of things I am supposedly charged with, she mentioned Theft By Deception and Money Laundering (How ridiculous, who would be laundering money for $780.00??).
I requested that these charges be sent to me in writing and also requested that she send a copy of the loan agreement she claimed they have. She said they couldn't send them. Any company refusing to back up their claim and send something in writing is NOT LEGITIMATE!! She then told me that if I sent the $780 these charges against me will be dropped, but if not she would be sorry for me and I would have to face the consequences!(These people are hilarious). She then told me she would see what "her attorney" could do. She then transferred me to someone who said is name was "Marvin Harvey" who also spoke heavily Indian accented English who repeated the same thing she told me earlier. I again requested that they send everything to me in writing to give to my attorney, he then said he couldn't send anything. I tried calling the number back and got the loud noise that you hear when you call a fax line. These people are trying to run some sort of scam!! DO NOT give them any money!!
1. If there are any formal charges against you, you will be served in writing, not with a ridiculous phone call.
2. If you defaulted on a loan with ANYONE, you would be contacted in writing within a few months of default and given a time period in which to respond and make payment arrangements, they will not contact you YEARS after a loan agreement supposedly took place.
3. If they claim the loan was sent by electronic funds into your bank account, they would have taken back payment the same way they sent it to you...electronically!! If the funds were not in the bank, they would have taken it anyway and you would be overdrawn and which case you would have to repay the bank. The bank would then notify you, not the company.
Please beware of these people, do not let them scare you into sending them money by threatening you by trying to use legal terms and telling you that you need to have bail money ready and that you need to go to court.- Caller: Federal Legislature Of Unsecured Loans
