My greatgrandma got a phone call like this, this morning. She thought it was my cousin. She told the caller that she would make some calls and for her to call back. The lady said she would call back in twenty minutes. The lady never called back, thankfully. In the meantime, she called my mom and asked my mom what was going on. She called my cousin and my aunt and they knew NOTHING! Thankfully she didnt fall for it. I googled the number and got this page. Just thought you should know it was going on still.

The number was the same as above 416-777-7775

My mother recieved a call from this number today. Said it was her grandson and gave his name. Same ol' same ol' story, in an accident, DUI, need money for repairs and bond. Moms a smart one, Checked on all four grandsons, all at work like good young men. Cops called another complaint filed but no money lost through money-gram.

    worried son
My Dad got a call form this number - same story as above.  Dad seemed to think they knew his grandson's (my son's) name - but I wonder if they asked 'do you know which grandson this is?' any way dad figured it out pretty quick by asking some questions to verify if it was my son.  Pretty creepy.  If they have been using this number for years why can't the cops bust them??

Same scam and the call was to my wife.  Caller said he was our son in holding cell with broken nose and collar bone.  Very scary but caller did not sound like our son.  When pushed for details the caller hung up.

Our son did not pick up phone right away so it was scary for a couple of hours.

I hope someone finds this guy and breaks his collor bone and nose and puts him in a holding cell

He called my mom today, had my son's name with the same story about being in a wreck in Canada and didn't want to tell me because I was upset with him for going in the first place. My mom told him she didn't have the funds to send him & he should call me(his mother), she gave him my cell # cause "his phone was damaged in the wreck". I asked him to tell me his last name, which of course he couldn't and after getting frustrated becuase I simply kept asking him to tell me his last name,if he was my son surely even with a broken nose he would know his last name, I mean he remembered  "his grandmother's" phone number... he finally hung up! IDIOT!

My 80+ year old mother in law received a call from 416-777-7775 on Sept. 23, 2009.  Like many of the people who have filed reports at this site, the caller identified himself as her grandson.  She did not recognize the voice and told him she would be calling the authorities.  The frighening part was that he had her address He told her to look out the window and she would see a white car.  She didn't look but was bothered nonetheless.  He also told her to keep her doors and windows locked.  This person has clearly been at this for a while.  Why haven't the Canadian authorities done something about these calls and scams?

This lying POS called my 91 year old grampa and claimed to be my brother. He said he needed 3,000.00 to be wired. My grandpa said, "You don't sound like my grandson" and this guy said, "Well, I've been sick!" Little does he know that my brother and grandpa are very close and they talk several times a day. My grandpa knew it wasn't him and started pushing for details. The guy hung up. I really hope that this guy doesn't get any money from unsuspecting people and that he gets what he deserves!!!!!

My Mother just got a call from this ph# 416-777-7775 today, Oct. 21, 2009.  Saying it was one of her Grandson's, had his actual name, and to send $3500 cause he had been in a car wreck.  She luckily told him she didn't have that kind of money & she was sorry she couldn't help him.  They hung up.  Then she called her Grandson & he was on his way to work.  She then realized it was a scam!

Call came in around noon eastern time.  I always look at caller I.D. because of all the "sales" calls and requests for donations that we get.  It gave no name but gave the number. With cell phones now you never know for sure if the number will give away where the person is.  It didn't.
The young guy's voice said Hi, Grandma.  Immediately I told him he must have a wrong number. We don't have any grandchildren.  Then he said "I'm just pulling your leg" and called me Auntie (and used my first name).
I knew it was none of my nephews, but he was talking so fast that I didn't catch whose son he said he was....     He made the mistake of asking how things are down here in ___________ and named the town we live in.  That made me wonder.
I proceeded to tell him that it was lovely, but too hot for my taste and next thing you know there was the beep-beep-beep of a disconnected call.
I can assure you I won't answer another one.  Most of the time I don't answer if I don't recognize the number.
Seems to me this has been going on long enough that someone could stop these scammers!

    Grateful Mom in OK
My mother-in-law (lives in a different city than I) chatted last Saturday about my son and his family.  We discussed how he was working "up north" and how he and his family were doing well.  She called the next morning and asked, "what happened with that (my son)boy?"  I asked what she meant, that as far as I know all is well.  She went on to explain that she had received a call (3 total) from a young man that said, "Grandma, I got in a little trouble.  I rented a car and had a few drinks drove to Canada and wrecked the car.  I need $3500.00 to get out of trouble."  Of course and thank goodness, she was unable to send that amount of money!  I contacted my daughter-in-law to find out if she'd heard from her him.  She had and all was well.  When my son found out, he laughed, said he was "up here to work, not be put in a Canadian jail" but was grateful, as I am, that his grandmother had NOT sent the money!!  Someone needs to catch these thieves and put an end to this!  I am passing this along to all I know!!
