This is 2007, not 1907, and we live in Canada, not communist China.  With the hundreds of complaints posted here, how is it possible that this number can't be identified and following that, the clown or clowns behind the number charged with being a nuisance?

I am completely amazed at the amount of harrassment this caller is able to get away with. We can only assume there are  thousands more out there that have not reported their problems with this nuisance # on this site. How is it possible that no one can track this?  Come on. They can. They just won't. If it's Rogers, I suggest people who are using their service stop.  Does it take a mass boycott for them to take responsibility and action? That is, frankly, disgusting.  I will NEVER use Rogers for a home phone service.

    Concerned
    I just received the call.

Anyone who is overly perturbed by the caller and doesn't mind spending $5 on the service can dial *57.  This will send a notice to the police with the user's details.  You'll likely get a call from the police asking what the complaint is, but hopefully they'll handle the rest.

    Call Trace
If you ever receive a threatening, harassing or obscene call, you can use
the Call Trace feature to trace the number from which the call was made.
The details of the trace are automatically sent to your local police service.
Note: This service allows you to trace only the last incoming call.
Call Trace should only be used in serious situations. If you repeatedly
receive harassing calls, you should call the police so they can investigate.
    How to use Call Trace:
    1. Hang up after receiving the call.
    2. Pick up your telephone, dial and wait for the recorded message indicating that the call has been traced.

416-907-0554 is in fact a telecommunications company hired by Rogers to upgrade your services. If you call Rogers and explain the calls and that you do not wish to receive calls they will make a note on your account. If the calls continue you are supposed to use *57, and the information will be forwarded to the police.

As for those of you that posted about getting calls at indecent times, there is no excuse for that, this company is located in Toronto, which  means they are in your timezone..it's illegal to call after 9pm and before 7am. Report these people, you have that right!

I'm getting these too.  For those who say they already have Rogers home phone service, I do too.  They're calling me to get me to switch from land line phone to IP telephony (it save them a ton of money if you switch).  I've told them to [***] themselves a number of times, but they must love hearing it, because they keep calling.

this is likely an identity theft scam-- most likely out of nigeria... look up 419, or nigerian scams. this # rang as a local 416 number but had long distance ring. when i called back it said # was not assigned.

Ok I took this a step (or 4) further, with an email to my MP, MPP, City Councillor, and local Consumer Affairs reporter:

"Gentlemen - I and apparently a large number of other people have been receiving unsolicited calls and hangups from Rogers Telecom for the past few months, at all hours.  As some indication of the breadth of this, I offer the following internet site, which includes some seven pages of complaints from people who took the time to Google this number and found each other to complain.

    https://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-416-907-0554

I have written the firm, and advised them that if they should persist in contacting me in this manner, without even speaking to me on the phone when they call, I should be pleased to cancel my other services with them.  While I agree that this is the ultimate in my power to express my displeasure with their practices, I wonder if perhap you might do better.

I have enclosed the text of my complaint below - I am unable to copy each of you on an email as their site uses a form for complaint submission.

Thank you in advance for your consideration of this issue.  While I believe we have all become somewhat inured to these annoyances, I thought perhaps you might also feel that many others must be bearing this in silence, and thus, take some action to ameliorate the situation.

With warm regards in this festive season,

Name and number redacted (Sadly, still with the perpetrators ;)"

COMPLAINT FOLLOWS (submitted immediately prior to this email)

Hi - I keep getting calls from you for home telephone service (which I already have with you), asking me to switch to your IP telephony service.  No.  I've told you more than seven times.  No.

Now I'm getting repeated calls from the number 416 907-0554.  It's just a bloody hang up every time.  I checked it out, and it's you buggers.  Apparently it's not just me.  On just one site there are more than 7 pages of complaints about this, filled with people you are training to hate your company.  This seems remarkably foolish - please tell me that I am wrong.

    https://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-416-907-0554

Again this is one site, and only a small fraction of people you are cheesing off will be indicated here.

This may indeed be legal, but it's a terrible business practice.  Sufficiently bad that I would be pleased to cancel my services with you and move to other providers if this continues into the new year.

I will also be copying this to my MP, Jack Layton, MPP, Peter Tabuns, City Councillor Case Ootes, and Peter Silverman at City TV, in the hopes that if you feel so comfortable as to ignore my complaint, that they can discomfit you sufficiently themselves.

All the best to you and yours in the holiday season and in the year ahead.  Now stop calling me!

this number called me, first only breating and then after saying hello a number of times they asked for my last name, pronounced rediculously. I asked who was calling and he said it was steve checkton calling from rogers cable. (sounded like total [***], i actually think there just trying to see if anyone is home, sounded sketchy)

Same as everyone else - caller identifies themselves as Rogers, but is so unprofessional that they couldn't even pass for telemarketers (and that's saying something). Guy I spoke to mumbled a lot. Claimed to be Rogers in Toronto and not a telemarketer, but eventually hung up on me when I asked him where in Toronto he was calling from.

Not sure who this or what they trying, but there's something fishy about it.

    Doing a little digging.

Take a look at this: https://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-416-645-2105/4
    And: https://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-073-120-2700/3

Seems like someone is trying to get people's personal info by pretending to be Rogers. Maybe someone got a hold of some customer lists?
