The called me for "Free Government Money" Indian accent, said i needed to take $300 to western union to get the money...

Obvious scammer, when the name listed is "NOT IN SERVICE".  No message left.

Caller told me my computer was installing all kinds of viruses when we used the browser and they could help me fix that. I told him it was a scam and hung up.

Same old crap I receive calls from these people every other day but I don't answer. There are really some low life's around and I hope each one of them is a victim to Karma.

Just got call from "Not in Service" number. Didn't answer. It left machine message saying "Leave a message after the tone."  WTF! I should call them?

Phone rang...no answer. Very annoying

Everyone writing is correct -- total scam.  Do not believe anything they say.  However, that doesn't mean you can't have fun with them.  Sometimes I ask them to hold on and then go on with my life.  I left one of them hanging on for nearly 10 minutes.  He was still there when I picked up the phone again.  Then I pretended to have forgotten that I'd put the phone down.  He finally hung up.  It's fun to do that because although it looks as though it's coming from your area code, it's really not.  It's a long distance call for them and making them wait costs them money.  Another thing I do is pretend that I'm going along with them, all the while working on a crossword puzzle or watching TV.  Ask them about made up error codes.  They'll answer as though they know what they're talking about.  Doing these kinds of things is a lot easier on my psyche than getting upset and yelling at them.  I just like to make them wait and wait and wait.  Sometimes while the phone is resting on the table, I pretend that I'm talking on another phone.  Have a good time with these people and tell them nothing about yourself.

Just got a call from this number (male with a pronounced East Indian accent) in Ottawa saying he was from Micrososft and there was a problem with my computer).  I was aware of this scam and told him so and he hung up

I'm in Ottawa and they also called me today around 3:10pm. Through the thick Indian accent, I was only able to make out 'computer' and 'Windows' and realized right away is was a scam. I told him thank-you and good-bye 3 times then hung-up. Next time I'm going to mess with them by saying that I work for Microsoft and the US government is tracing their call.

Today I got my first call from them - although they "sounded" legit I could not understand what the woman was saying at all - other than she said she was from "Windows" (sounded like an accent from India or Pakistan etc)  ..I said "Oh, Microsoft?" and she said "No, Windows!".. then as the other posts have said, she mumbled that my system was sending personal info on the internet.  She said they have all my info including phone (could have been a random shot getting me though). I would imagine they don't have my info but would have if they had gotten 'into' my system.  Because she a) couldn't answer my questions of inquiry and b) was brutally hard to understand anyway, in frustration, she passed the call to her "supervisor" ..who was a little easier to understand ..but the whole call just stunk out loud.  Luckily I was heading out anyway and had to cut the call short but before I hung up, they said they'd call back (ya right ..I'll be ready if they do).  My phone display only showed their number, no specific caller ID.

No amount of money will suffice and hoping for a better plan.

This Indian scammer successfully conned my unknowing father out of hundreds of dollars for bogus "online repairs."  I wish he could be stopped.  I believe preying on innocent victims like that is evil.   We reported him then.  I can't believe he is (they are) still doing it.  I just received the same call saying he has detected problems with my "Windows."   I have a MAC.

This is why people who get calls from strangers that too strangers with an accent should never ever trust them no matter how legit they sound or what area codes they spoof. These cowards gain the trust of people and cheat them.

This phone number belongs to scamming artists: They pretend to be calling from Microsoft, telling you that there is a problem with your computer, offering you to help out and asking you to download programs. The programs then turns over full access to your computer, and as such, gives the scammers complete control over your personal information and IP address. DO NOT FALL FOR THIS SCAM - MICROSOFT DOES NOT KNOW YOUR PHONE NUMBER, AND THEY DO NOT MAKE HOUSE CALLS LIKE THIS.

Missed a call from 425-406-9022. Called back and an auto machin asked me to confirm my number in order to opton out tele-marketing calls. I hung up.

If you answer and realize it is marketing call, just say "Oh yes, one moment please" Then leave them waiting while you go about your business.  There time is not as important as your's.  They will finally hang up.
I am down to maybe 1 call a month from 2-3 a week.

What good is the "do not call list"?

Oh dear, Microsoft again. I confronted him and said we both know this is a scam....deny, deny, deny! i asked him for the phone number so I could call Microsoft to confirm... he refused. I asked wher he was calling from ...Texas. Washington area code. I asked for what city...Arizona....at which time I giggled and in his panic he hung up. I am somewhat disgusted at the use if a us phone # to disguise these scam calls, but what ya goin do?
Play with them...like a hamster on a wheel, with the cat ready to pounce...

Our calls increased when we signed up on the do not call list. Unfortunately as I understood it, the agency that collects it distributes it to legitimate companies who then don't call, like charities, but unfortunately it somehow goes to the agencies out of country, not bound by north american laws, who now have a verified list of real phone numbers....so the frequency of calls actually goes up as compared to when you just got a hit or miss computer dialed call.

Love it! I play along sometimes and ask them questions, confront etc...
If cant make them stop, at least cut into their productivity and save someone else from getting that call.
