Received a phone call that caller ID showed NAME UNABAILABLE... that should have been my first clue.  I answered the phone and said hello three times.  I was just about to hang up when a gentleman came on the line and said hello.  I said, "What can I do for you?"  He replied and said he was sorry for the recorded message (I never heard a recorded message) and then he went into his speach... saying that he was collecting money for disabled war veterans and wanted to know if he could count on me to make a small donation.

I told him that I do not donate money to unsolicited phone calls to my home.  I told him my phone number is on the DO NOT CALL LIST and it is also an unlisted phone number and not to call me back.   I then hung up and blocked the phone number.

I am getting sick of these types of calls asking for donations.

Received a call from this number in the middle of a Sunday afternoon.  Caller ID listed "Cleveland, Ohio."  Left no message.

Caller ID said: Cleveland,OH. I answered, said they were from the cancer institute. I said no thank you and hung up. I won't talk to anyone on a robo call, especially if a company name doesn't appear.

Keeps calling never answer I try calling the number back, a recording says it can't not be put through.

1st time getting this number on landline. I never answer & don't use answering machine. Thanks to you that have complained. I too am listed on DNC but impossible for FTC to track as many use "spoofed" & multiple phone numbers.

This number is a scammer. Registers as DPSF on phone. Hang up ...dial tone...I blocked them with call blocker.

Called under DPSF, went to answering, never left message. Irritating that I have to google to find out about all these crazy telemarketers. When will our government and telephone companies help to stop this. They charge us so much money to have telephone service but can't provide this service. Guess maybe they get more business from them and money?

Hi, you seem to know a lot about spoofed and multiple numbers.
My question is who gives these firms or people these numbers?
And also I'm on DNC also but still receive these. Very irritating. Wonder if you agree that our telephone companies are responsible for this? Boy, if we don't make our payment they sure can find us.
Sorry, not in a good mood right now, but I'm sure you know where I'm coming from, just like all of us that complain.
Requested help from my telephone on this , answer, nothing they can do.  Ugh!!
Maybe someone can create a way for us to turn this around on these scammers, telemarketers.

Caller left no message...  just one very annoyed recipient of yet another scam call.

Well Slim, very informative. But unfortunately it's up to me to do only one thing again at my expense to order a call blocking machine. Very disappointing for us consumers, but guess this is the world we live in. Guess best is do not answer a lot cheaper and keep ringer off, people important to me know how to get ahold of me, but what a shame.😭😡

"do not answer" is indeed a good alternative, if you are too impecunious to purchase a call blocker.  However, did you pay for the locks on your home's doors, or the doors & ignition for your vehicle?

Currently, you need a call blocker just as you need locks on your doors.

Received a call from this number 440-596-5815 while away, left no message. Take it from the others on this site it was someone claiming to be a charity.

Your so well educated and intelligent very aware of people's needs . This is also how people take advantage of us the "telemarketers" their preying on impecunious people. Thank you for your advise well taken. First thing I will do when no longer impecunious is purchase a blocker. Have any suggestions on the best to get for a landline phone with combined answering machine, Slim? Amazon has way to many to decide which is best. Any advise would be appreciated. Thank you.
