    just doesn't stop
Glad to have read these notes as the number was ringing.  This came in to my company's phone number, not residential.  Guess they just call everybody.

They called. I did not pick up. Party unknown to me. They did not leave a message. They get one chance to leave a message, then I block the number forever. I assume they are cutthroats, fraud, swindlers, criminals, ne'er do wells, losers — people who want me to empty my bank account into theirs. No dice. I am not stupid. Burn in hell, assaholas. F U.

That was the recorded call. It is set up to responded to certain words. You were not talking to a real person.

NO one has to give anyone your number.  I have everyone's number.  The computer programs these people use automatically dial every possibly number. Start with and area code, then a local exchange and then dial:  0001, 0002, 0003, 0004, 0005, 0006, and so on.  Everyone everywhere has everyone's number. Just arrange the number 0-9 in the right combination and you can have every phone number possible.

I use different rings for my accepted  numbers and  unrecognized numbers.  Saves me from running to answer the phone.

Panasonic KX-TGE270 (handset KX-TGE270). I love, LOVE, this phone. Can block up to 3,000 callers, and can set it not to ring when any blocked call comes in. Never been happier. Now, I must say this, I find myself entering numbers almost daily, because maintaining your sanity requires a little diligence on your part. I had hoped that, once the election is over in November, these calls will subside --- but none (maybe a couple) of the calls I have been blocking are politically generated. Scammers each and every one. Nonetheless, it gives me great pleasure to block numbers! And this site is my oracle!

BTW, my Panasonic landline has four handsets --- one in every room I need one, each one being individually programmed. My favorite feature: SILENT MODE, meaning I can set incoming calls such that my phones will not ring between the hours of 9:00 pm and 9:00 am.

Called me 4 times this afternoon.  They weren't successful when their first call was blocked so they tried 3 more times.  Don't answer the phone unless it is a name and number I recognized.  Caller ID is useless.  They can spoof any name or phone number they want.  However it is not likely that they would have the name and phone number of a friend.  If a business wants to contact me they can do it by mail.  I don't give out any information to anyone over the phone.  Your bank etc will never call and ask for info by phone.
