They didn't leave a message.  I don't answer any number I don't recognize.  I'm surprised to get a telemarketer, though, because this is a new phone.  I had some on my old phone that persisted for YEARS.  Thanks for the info, folks!  No way would this be Walgreen's, which is across the street from me, not across the country!

They are at it again...DO NOT give out any information as this is fraud/phishing. They called so far three times saying my daughter (who does not live with me but they had her name correct) had a prescription to refill. Neither she nor anyone in our family uses Walgreens for prescriptions. Call originates in Phoenix and I live in MN.

I get calls from a local number for walgreens. Not from a number on the other side of the country.  My scripts are only ready when I call to ask for a refill and not before. This is some kind of scam and harassment.

The number may indeed be Walgreen's, however, it's also possible it's a phishing scam spoofing Walgreen's number to dupe receivers. This number is not to be trusted on random calls.

Then why is this outfit reportedly calling folks who have no business with Walgreen's? To many, Walgreens is a trusted name, which is why the caller might decide to spoof caller IDs and better their chances at getting something. This number is linked to Walgreen's, but likely a scammer looking to steal information claiming to be them.

To everyone that want to argue the point, this really IS Walgreen's automated notification system for customer prescriptions.  They rolled it out a couple of years ago, to either suppliment or replace the reminder notifications you get from your local Walgreens store.  You can opt out of these reminder calls, which you probably want to do if you don't fill/refill prescriptions at Walgreens.  You can also call and notify Walgreens that your number is no longer associated with the person they were trying to reach, so they can update their system records.  That will also resolve the calls from this number.

Anyway, It will either notify you that a new prescription is ready for pick up, remind you that a current prescription is due for refill or has been refilled and is ready for pick up, or inform you that a current prescription is delayed because they need to contact the prescribing doctor to renew refills.  Unfortunately, it has been my experience is that it only seems to leave a VM message about 30-50% of the time.  And it only seem to remind me about my two 'newest' prescriptions' refills.  My local store's system calls about a 3rd prescription that I've been taking for 6 years.  Perhaps that's the difference.  One is a prescription that existed in the system before they came out with this new one, so I get a call from my preset preferred store about that one... the new system calls about the two newest ones.

JustinCase, the reason is simplicity itself.  Either a typographical error transposed digits or otherwise changed the true phone number of another customer, or someone who previously held your number has a new prescription but their contact information was not updated with Walgreens.

Please give us a Walgreens web page that shows this phone number.
Otherwise, we might have trouble believing your post.

Y'see, if you knew who called, why search for their phone number on a phone complaint site?

Yeah, "Mr. Conspiracy", it could be a phishing scam or it could be Publisher's Clearinghouse trying to inform you that you've won the "$5000/wk for Life" prize, so they can schedule to drive up when you are going to be home for the publicity/TV promo bit.

But, since this automatic system calls me twice month to remind me that one of two prescriptions are due to be refilled, I can assure you that it is, in fact, Walgreens.  The unfortunate issue with their system is that it only leaves a message about half the time.  I got one call yesterday that didn't leave a message and just got another one a few minutes ago that did leave their usual message to call an 800 number to schedule my refill for the intended prescription.  However, I never call that 800 number.  I simply call my local Walgreens where I pick up my meds and their 'automated' system also recognizes my phone number and lets me know that I have a prescription due for refill and lets me schedule it to be done.

BTW, If you're that concerned, do what I do... run a good call-blocking app on your phone.  I block all calls from numbers that aren't in my Contacts List.  My phone doesn't even ring or give any audible notification, unless the caller actually leaves a voicemail.  I use "Calls Blacklist" (Android), if you're interested in a good app that doesn't require a 'rooted' phone.
