Yeah I used Call Blacklist for my cell, but there's no wrong or right answer for which blocking app to use. It's not too hard to see what's going on here. The Walgreen's you're dealing with and the ones reported most are two different ones, one real (what you're used to) and a bogus one. Since when and why would a legitimate Walgreen's randomly call someone who has no business or prescriptions there? They wouldn't, but that won't stop a hard up thief from looking for ways to find numbers that could work to their advantage. Walgreen's is a trusted name and with some research and call spoofing, the thief can suddenly become his own 'Walgreen's'. I'm sure they'll be happy to take payments over the phone, Western Union, MoneyGram, or the famed iTunes cards, too. As for the one I originally replied to: the caller could've gotten the poster's name very easily, such as a third party who called him before and passed along both the name and number.

When in doubt, please check it out. My wife and I deal with Walgreen's and the pharmacy department will call periodically (from the store location we deal with) regarding prescriptions as courtesy refill reminders, etc. I just called their local store and they weren't familiar with Walgreen's use of the 480 area code.

My wife and I have dealt with a number of pharmacies and Walgreen's is one of, if not, the best. Their customer service ranks highly and the store is always clean and inviting. The pharmacists don't just crank out prescriptions--Walgreen's computer system (probably like many other chain pharmacies) has detailed information which allows the pharmacist to contact the patient if their is any concern regarding any possible drug interactions, etc. The pharmacist recently contacted my wife to alleviate any concern--Walgreen's does utilize that information (which is not just taking up space in a computer system) in a positive manner as demonstrated by that contact.

Sean, thank you for your intelligent comment. A phone reminder is a good service, especially if one's physician calls in a refill or new prescription. It's not just for senior citizens as erroneously indicated by some other commenters.

My phone system did not allow a message to be left as the phone number was unrecognized like many others (political calls, fund soliciting calls, scams, wrong number calls, etc.). In this case. I called our local Walgreen's instead of the numbers mentioned.

I called the number back and got the Walgreen's pharmacy refill computer. Pressed 8 twice and got removed from the automatic refill calling service.

It's not a collection agency. They didn't leave me a message when they called, but it's walgreens. I called it back and it was regarding prescription refills.
