- dxPittRepeated calls, I just ignored. On the third time, a recorded message was given:
Siad it was GoDaddy.com and to call this number for any questions (and said the full phone number 4805058859).- Caller: GoDaddy.com
- Call type: Telemarketer
- too funny| 1 replyI sincerely hope that "change domain name" is a joke - as a business that last things I would want to do is change my phone number or my domain. Screening a call is a MUCH better answer :)
- Caller: Go Daddy
- Call type: Event reminder
- Morf_Almighty replies to too funnyNope, it's not a joke. Luckily it was a brand new domain name so i didn't have much invested in it. The peace of mind was completely worth it. I'm confident it was the best decision i have ever made in my entire life. Highly recommend.
- MavarlaI've received a call to my cell phone from this number, at least once a month or sometimes, once-a-week for about 2 mos., now, and I ignore them---but, the first or second time it happened, I answered and got a recording of a woman speaking Spanish; couldn't understand her message, though; hope this helps.

- oohshiney replies to Morf_AlmightyThis post made me laugh..
"Suspicious, I asked them plainly "Are you REALLY from GoDaddy or are you some scam artist?!?" she said she was really from GoDaddy, which is all I needed to hear so I screamed "THATS EXACTLY WHAT A SCAMMER WOULD SAY" and I hung up."
What would one expect the legit company to say?
Anyway I have only recently gotten service through godaddy (maybe a week ago), and am getting the call for the first time which doesn't seem suspicious to me. - paulypaul replies to nyrose327| 3 repliesWhether it is godaddy or not, this post won't help you to determine this. But, regardless, Godaddy is a secure organization, and the last thing they will ever do on the phone is ask you for your personal information, and especially a PIN. Think about it. Why would they call you and ask you for your PIN. Or 'please confirm your name' - you called me, remember? Anyone posting otherwise and telling you to let it all hang out for someone that calls you randomly, well, the only ones that would benefit from telling you this are the cyber criminals themselves. Don't give your PIN to anyone anywhere, that's just a stupid idea.
- alI called the number on GoDaddy.com web site (480-505-8877) and asked them about this number. They told me 480-505-8859 is a real number from GoDaddy.
- Giants02122It's GoDaddy for sure. They call to make sure you are happy with their service, etc. I just got one from them but this isn't a scam. Never had any personal info "stolen" from GoDaddy. I think some people just are over reacting!

- FedUpIn808Just got a call from this number, and yes am a GoDaddy customer (both personal & corporate). I've been a customer for YEARS and have never gotten a call from them. This is weird....
I didn't answer - don't know the number won't answer so leave a message - but they left no message. If this number calls again & again without a message, is getting reported to the FCC.- Caller: No Idea - Didn't Answer
- LessZoaBeen receiving calls from this number for about a week - sometimes several times a day.
Just got it again, this time I answered it.
A guy (from a call center) stated was calling from GoDaddy.
I said ok.
He stated I recently bought some domain names.
I said ok.
He then said the call was being recorded for training purposes.
Smiling, I said ok.
He then asked me why i bought the domain names the way I did (i bought one for 10 years and another for 1 year).
At this point, I told him I do not appreciate unsolicited calls - to please not call my number again. If I want to talk to someone at GoDaddy, I will call or email directly. I further told him I was waiting for him to say this call was being recorded so my request would be recorded and if he understood what I was requesting.
He said, "Ok, I understand. Thank you for your time and for being a GoDaddy customer."
Then I said thank you and hung up.

It is good thing to wait for that "... this is being recorded..." message - particularly from legitimate businesses. It doesn't hurt to let them know you may (or you may not actually, but they dunno) be recording the call as well.
Of note, GoDaddy does publish this number on their website for 24/7 support.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After waiting a few, I called GoDaddy support, and after verifying me and some discussion (plus making sure this call is being recorded), the support guy verified that I was called by them twice today as part of an "outreach process", but not before today (I've been receiving calls "from this number" for about a week, remember). I told him I want it permanently noted on my account that I do NOT want to receive any unsolicited phone calls from them.
Surprisingly enough, there is NO PLACE in the account settings to set up "do not call me" preferences - there is one to not receive text messages - and it took the act of a supervisor to make such a designation on my account.
After a bit of waiting, and some back and forth chatter (remembering the days of $1 gas & .45 pack of smokes), the nice guy told me that my account has a "...red phone with a circle and slash designating that they do not call me..."
I did alert the support guy that there are spoofing methods for illegitimate callers to ID as someone else on the caller ID. He found that interesting and I mentioned to him they may want to alert their security people. Especially after the DNS debacle last week.... they just might want to take care of their own house.
He sounded appreciative (was typing while I was talking) and thanked me for being such a good GoDaddy customer. Technically - I'm in a very good mood right now so yeah... I am being good. ^.^- Caller: GoDaddy
- Dick Gozinya replies to paulypaulWhen you register your domain they have you set up a call-in pin. They're not asking for your debit pin knucklehead. Seriously the paranoia is getting a bit extreme. OMG a devious group of hackers has infiltrated Godaddy's database, outsourced a call-center(in the US no less) and is now calling people shortly after they register, renew or whatever so they can what? Hijack your crappy domain name? Come to your house and steal your cookies? Grow some nuts, pick up the phone next time they call and interrogate the nice person on the other end of the line.
- ChrisIt is Godaddy and it was a recorded message from Danica Patrick thanking me for renewing my domains at Godaddy. Then it goes on to explain how they are there to help all GoDaddy Customers with whatever their needs are.
- Caller: GoDaddy
- moNot from Godaddy. Got a call and voicemail from this number today. "If you are a senior with back pain and want to find out if you qualify for Medicare options, press 1. If you are not a senior, or would like to be removed from this list, press 2."
I've had this number blocked for awhile. Definitely not GoDaddy. If they are calling saying they are GoDaddy, they are lying.- Call type: Telemarketer
- GoDaddy User replies to Morf_AlmightyI'm not sure if you're joking or serious. If you're joking, this is the best joke I've seen in a while. If you're not, you're the biggest doofus I've ever seen. Which are you? Answer carefully...
- Mike Heathman replies to Morf_AlmightyAre you an idiot? Legit people will tell you the same thing.
GoDaddy contacts customers who have products and services with them for surveys and to remind them sometimes that they have several domains in renewal. For instance, they contacted me because i bought several SSL certificates for my domain and various subdomains of the same domain. They were calling to inform me a cheaper method would be to buy a wildcard SSL certificate.
Don't misinform people, it's bad business. Obviously you "learn it was a scam" because all you did was get told the truth and you considered it to be a lie. The obvious answer is, they called you back after you made the change in the domain name because they ARE godaddy and wanted to call and touch base with you on the changes because frankly, said changes are uncommon. - Chuck| 1 replyThis is in fact a go daddy telephone number. I called Go Daddy and verified it. They confirmed I was added to their do not call list.
