    Pretty much the same thing here.  Some lady just called out of nowhere and asked if I spoke Spanish.  When I answered "un poquito" she just hung up.

    500-500-5000 just showed up on my caller i.d. again today as "Personal Call". when checking messages, though, there is just a hang-up at that call time.  this number has shown on my caller i.d. several times over the past month but a mssg is never left (not been there to take call).
    searching this reappearing number is how i found this site tonight. i was hoping to find out who it is!Let's find out who it is!

    Irritated
    A 500 number is yet another tool for telemarketers to harass us.

    The premise behind 500 service is simple. Similar to 800 and 900 services, you can either accept a randomly chosen number or opt for a "vanity" 500 number. Some customers choose vanity numbers that uniquely identify them or their businesses, while others choose a number that is simple to remember or dial.

    Once you select your number, it becomes yours for the life of your business or as long as you want. Unlike standard telephone numbers, your 500 number is not associated with a particular telephone or location. As you change locations or move between them, you can program your 500 service to search for you through a sequence of up to three telephone numbers.

    There are 13 companies that offer 500 numbers:
    * American Mobile Satellite Corp.
    * American Personal Communications (APC)
    * AT & T
    * Bell Atlantic Mobile (BAM)
    * BellSouth Mobile System
    * GTE Mobile Communications
    * GTE Telephone Operations
    * McCaw Cellular Communications
    * MCI Telecommunications
    * Pacific Bell
    * PacTel Cellular
    * Sprint
    * U S West New Vector Group

    I have yet to identify a method of reverse lookup for these numbers.

    Got one today, lots of static and digital garble followed by someone speaking spanish.  Said 'buenas diaz' a lot.  I just said wrong number and hung up. . .

    Curious about the purpose of these calls... seems really fishy...

    The CID description for the number was "Tollfree Number"

    I got a call from the number 500-500-5000. A man's voice speaking Spanish & I understand enough to have identified 'someone' trying to explain 'something' about telephone service. The caller ID tag was SACService, which I think just identifies it as a recently added "service access code" number. When I asked what they were selling and who they wanted to talk to, the call was terminated. Sounds like a whole new way to be annoyed in our homes!

    Yeah, the 500-500-5000 amigos keep on bugging me also.  It would not be so bad if they would stick around long enough to explain to them that I am not interested and to please stop calling, but the [***] just hang up and call back a few days days later.  If anybody knows how to put an end to this sh*t, I am all ears.

    Frustrated
    Has anyone received a call from 770-408-0464?  It is the exact same scenario as the 500-500-5000 calls, which I still receive as well.  This is getting ridiculous.  Any ideas???

    Called 4 times in three days. As soon as they realized my wife knew more spanish than them, they hung up.  So they are trying to do what exactly.  If they wanted someone that spoke spanish well then they would talk to them.  Clearly they don't want to talk to people that speak english.  They need to get a life, get a college degree and get a real job.

    someone from this number called my mom up today and she understood that the call was about a credit card offer. the woman on the line was talking so fast that she told her to slow down because she couldn't understand spanish being spoken THAT fast, and the woman basically told her, in spanish, "maybe when you go back to your country, you'll learn how to speak spanish," and hung up on her. what a bunch of a**holes. i'm assuming they said this because our last name is spanish. my mom said that next time they call, she's going to be nice, then ask to speak to her boss and complain about the kind of employees they have working there, wherever it is.

    Getting calls from this number 1-2 times daily now, but have not answered.  They are slow to hang up after the answering machine picks up.
