What possible thought process suggested that we called you, or your caller reads your posts here?

I've been receiving a daily call (except weekends and holidays) from them for over a year.  I just block the number so never hear the phone ring or the relentless message.  But I do see when they have called.  I will never deal with these kinds of threats and have no idea why they would be calling, since they never say specifically who they are calling for.  It's way too generic for me.

    It's a real company.

A lot of serious complaints about this group.  Seems they don't do a good job of contacting the right people even if they have been contracted by local governments and apparently given all the information they need.  Could be they are using a shotgun approach--send out letters to anyone who might have the same name as the party they are looking for and see who responds.

Recently I have been receiving 10-12 calls a day from this number.  They never leave a message.  I blocked them so now the phone rings once and disconnects their call automatically.  They will call back again in seconds and they do this for 10, 11, 12 times in a row.  But never leave a message.  Annoying.  I agree that if it were truly a valid matter they would be leaving a detailed message with a request for callback.  In the absence of that, it seems they're fishing to see who they may be able to shake-down.

Its a debt collection agency that collects court fines for states through their region ie Arizona uses them. I paid a fine for a traffic ticket about 6 years ago to the Glendale City Court.  About 6 months ago MSB started calling me daily Mon to Sat. I cleared up all issues through the veterans program.and contacted MSB. The calls stopped for a couple of days , but have started up again. I emailed them and explained the situation and that if the continued I would contact my attorney. I will just ave to wait and see.

The problem with e mail is that they can simply say they never received it.  Unlike a certified, return receipt letter, where you get that pretty green card card as proof when you sue them.  By the way, attempting to collect money not owed is against the law.

    Annoyed person
Automated call every single day saying they are trying to collect a debt. I called it back once several months ago and after being in hold, the person said they were trying to collect a debt but started asking questions about who lived in the house and other personal info so I hung up. Stopped for a couple of months and now every day again!!

    >> Stop calling  <<

    Please realize that:

» Your post here will NOT stop the calls.  We did not call you.  Your caller probably does not read these messages.  We cannot block calls to you.  We cannot put you on or take you off the list.  We do not know who you are, and we do not know your phone number!

    Click_This_Line_for_Info_About_the_DNC_List
The National Do Not Call list is respected by legitimate telemarketers, but is ignored by criminal telescammers.

Surveys, charities, political calls, NON-sales calls and certain preexisting business calls are exempt from the DNCL.

Business phones do not qualify for DNCL protection.

    Click_This_Line_for_Info_About_800Notes_Purpose
Find out who is calling and why: Debt collectors, telemarketers, charities, and survey companies often call without leaving a message. Lookup the number to read the previous reports of other users.

Report telemarketing calls: Make the Do Not Call list offenders notice the problem by reporting their practices. No business wants bad publicity.

Report phone fraud: Did someone try to scam you? Reporting the number is the fastest way to make public aware, and prevent others from falling victim to the scam.

Check out a business: Read other users' feedback about the phone number owner.

»YOU are your own best defense against unwanted calls! You can use a call blocking app, device, service or procedure to block such calls.

    Click_This_Line_for_Methods_to_Block_Calls
Here are some tried and true methods for reducing or eliminating repeated spam / scam phone calls:

    1.  Do not answer the phone if you see an unknown number on your Caller ID ... let it go to answering machine or voicemail.  Many telescammers hang up after three or four rings.

    2.  If you have a smartphone, get one of the inexpensive or free call blocker apps at your online app store, and learn how to use it.

    3.  If your cell is not "smart", read the manual to learn how to set up a "group".  Assign the scammer's phone number to that group.  Also assign a "silent ring" to that group.  You will not hear future calls from that number.

3a.  Alternately, assign a "silent ringtone" as the DEFAULT ringtone.  Then, assign your favorite ringtones to friends, family, contacts, businesses, etc.  That way, you will not hear your phone ring, even if the scammer changes numbers!   (This is also called "whitelisting", and will cause you to miss calls from non-whitelisted numbers, so be careful!)

    4.  For cell phones or landlines: Contact your phone service provider.  They may have a facility or method to allow you to block numbers.

    5.  For landlines: there are several call blocking devices and services available.  Use your favorite search engine to find one.

    6.  DO NOT call unknown numbers back without checking who called (800notes is your friend)! All that does is verify your number is "live".  Instead, read this:
