- Surfboard| 1 replyGot something from these people in the mail a few days ago. Normally I shred mail like that, but this time I opened it. The envelope contained a dollar and a brief letter stating they were doing research and I would be getting a follow-up phone call.
Pocketed the dollar and blocked their number when caller ID got the call today. There is no part of my personal life that I wish to share with anyone. Keep the dollars coming! Have a nice day. - ChuckWasn't home but got a call, no message of course. People talking about dollars but we have never received any mail from Nielsen...So don't know what it was about.
- Caller: Nielsen

- KenI got a voice mail from this number and they left an 866 number to return the call. They said it was Nielsen and they wanted to have survey questions answered. To bad in this age of scammers that all of us are wary and if indeed it is Nielsen most of us,myself included, will not take a chance and respond.
- R.L.Caller ID said Nielsen. They called twice in 2 days Feb. 6-7, 2017).
I filled out one of their surveys (over a year ago), and kept up with 1 month of TV viewing. Sent the survey in and never received a penny. I call BS.- Caller: Nielsen

- francesi have blocked this number several times but they've found a way to get in anyway!
i have never answered their calls.
hard to imagine how anyone could be so stupid as to answer the questions they ask!
why not just give them all your passwords...- Caller: nielsen?
- keyThey call almost every day at various times and never leave a message. I do not answer if I don't who's calling!
- Caller: Nielsen
- BarneyThis is the biggest bunch of BS you have ever heard in your life.I watch DVDs not TV.
- Caller: TV rating call
- Steve replies to Paul-CActually, once you have participated, there is a high likelihood of remaining on their list. I have been TV surveyed twice and am currently in the radio diary (which pays a total of $12 per person in your home over 12 years old). Plus, the Nielsen ratings are often used to determine what shows stay on the air and what gets cancelled, so I am happy to fill it out.
- PiasorHas been calling for past two or three weeks, with no message. Just answered it and listened to .....nothing.

- Joe MamaThey called today did not leave a message. I have done these Nielsen survey's before. If you decide to participate in the survey:
Make up a fake birthday year. If you are over 49, they will let you do the survey but they don't care what you think. All that work will be for nothing. Advertisers are only interested in the 18-49 demographic. Then add a couple fake young people to the diary entry (18-23 yrs old) pretend you have kids living at home. Now you got some power.
Filling out the survey is a pain in the [***].
However, it's kind of cool to have some power over who in the industry gets your vote. If your a republican, say you listened to Rush. If your a liberal, say you listened to Thom Hartman. If you like a local morning show, say you listened to them for 3 hours (very few truly local shows left-good to support them).
Then if somebody you don't like gets cancelled for low ratings-you can say you had a hand in that! NICE!!! YOUR FIRED!!!- Caller: Nielsen Ratings

- MattIt is legit. I randomly get a few bucks cash in the mail and I just have to fill out something about my TV viewing schedule. It's really random but I've been doing this since I moved into my current address a few years ago.
- scammer replies to D| 1 replyWhy did you come to this site if you think it is legit? Good try but you have to work harder.
- Vicky replies to KeanaI also received a survey in the mail from Nielsen which had money in it. I'm sure it's sent out randomly... just like some people get phone calls from them, some get surveys in the mail from them. Regardless of what the "link" says about paying you or not, there are many of us that received their survey through the mail with money in it. You can argue, but I know what I got in the mail as do the others on here that did. You can't answer the phone and expect money to roll out. Nielsen is & has been real, whether there are 'others' trying to pretend to be Neilsen, I have no idea.
- BE replies to Bobbe WagnerWell, we always thought they were real. They sent a survey with $2 about 3 years ago. I returned the survey even though it was many pages and took some time. Think they were fishing for information as I never heard from them again until today but didn't say who they were (I don't think as I could not understand the person who was speaking so I asked them not to call any more). But my provider did list the name Nielsen but doesn't seem to be the Nielsen we were all familiar with many years in the past as they did not send the TV attachment or contact me further though I may not have been in their demographics (which would have only taken a few questions to know).
- Victor VectorNIELSEN constantly leaving messages. We never answered a few years ago because we don't do cable TV, they did send us $1 which I gave to charity ... now a few years later they are doing a RADIO survey. Don't feel inclined to have a public record of my privately held political leanings or religious viewpoints... ( and the CDC called about childhood vaccine survey a few weeks ago)

- Got Off the List !Found out how to get on the Neilsen (Radio Survey) internal do not call list for 5 yrs ... call 1-800-204-3174 ....instead of entering your phone number, you can just hit #, then you can ask the person to take you off the list (be aware they will ask if anyone else in the household is willing to to the survey) found the number on http://www.arbitronratings.com/mainhome.htm This is a blurb from the website ,,, "Nielsen is a research company and is committed to protecting information you provide us. When we share information with other companies for research purposes, we require that same protection. Our published research reports do not contain personally identifiable information. We will NOT provide your name, address, or telephone number to other companies who would put you on a mailing list for fundraising or try to sell you something. And we will never ask you to buy anything. In fact, you can earn cash rewards by being a part of our research!"
