Nielsen has been calling for about 10 days. Twice a day. Have received calls as late as 10pm. Only once did they leave a message stating a Nielsen Rep would be stopping by (uninvited). They sure did at 8pm pounding on the door and insistent ringing of doorbell. I was in bed due to odd hours of my schedule. They have called on Sunday and on Memorial day. It has actually reached the point of harassment. I do not have cable tv as I cut the cord sometime ago.  This phone number is now blocked. Will not under any circumstances respond to this company.

The money is real. They compensate you to complete surveys about the media.... haven't you ever heard of the Nielson Ratings? It is for helping ad companies radio stations and tv stations to know which type of advertising is best suited for which stations. And yes, they can "just send you mail".... It is no different than local businesses sending coupons in the mail to you.

The dollar was real. Now they send $5 bill and if you complete the survey (I did and they sent me another $5) legit company been doing tv rating for as long as we have had tv.

Legit. It is Nielsen, though, not Nielson. Nielsen.com sends you to the correct website.

I receive about 3  calls a day, every day from this number.  Caller ID says Nielsen.  I did not answer the first few times expecting they would leave a message, but they didn't.  I then blocked the number, but I still get about 3 calls a day.  I don't get it.

This was a legitimate call from Nielsen. My household was chosen for their current radio survey. I've done these for them in the past. They send out a booklet and ask you to keep track of the radio stations you listen to during one week and they give you a small incentive in exchange.

Oh, and for some reason they won't leave a message and will keep calling until you answer.

I worked for a market research firm that I believe had ties to Nielsen when I was a teenager. There were people at the firm who were hooked up to an autodialer whose sole job was to ask the person who answered the phone if it was a home or a business. Then they recorded the response and the firm probably provided those lists to Nielsen and sold them to other companies.

Got the mail, the $1.00, and the call.  After answering the question, "are you, a member of your family, or a friend involved in radio, TV, etc." I was advised because I could answer "yes", I was not eligible for the additional money that would be sent - their words "that might buy a doughnut or a cup of coffee".

I don't no if this call is legit, but got calls from Nielsen a couple of years ago and they send pages and pages of questions. Each one has a dollar and if you skip or fill out survey incorrectly they get upset and rude. If it is legit it isn't worth the couple of bucks for the annoyance.
