Number showed up on caller ID as Daniel N. Gordon. Called number back and they are a collection Attorney. They did not want to tell me what type of practice they performed until I asked point blank what type of Attorney they were. They looked me up in the system and I did not owe them anything, they said that is was a mistake. I said that it couldn't just be a random dial and that kind of mistake. DO NOT CALL ME AGAIN.
They were rude and very evasive in admitting anything.

I told my husband next time he call @ work tell the person that he can be sue instead.because he is breaking the law.I never heard collection agency can sue a person because they owe money.it takes a lot of work to sue a person because you have to have the judge sign the petition. judge does'nt want waste his vaiable time for scam bug. like this people.

I just received a call from this Daniel N. Gordon...the number 541-3422-2276 showed up on my caller ID.  He asked me if I knew a former neighbor...I cut him off at the pass...threatened to report him to the Better Business Bureau.  I have done that before and am keeping this name and number just in case I do get another call.  According to the BBB, this is unethical to call neighbors, etc., for debt collection, etc.

They didn't say anything about the nature of the call because its against the fdcpa to disclose the nature of the call to someone other than the debtor. And before you fire back with some comment about how would I know, I'm a debt collector.

Google the fdcpa and read up on it if you want to know what the laws really are. Your very misinformed.

Another poorly informed person my guess is by now Daniel n gordons law firm probably already holds a judgement against your husband. It is illegal (per the fdcpa) for a debt collector to threaten actions they don't plan on or don't have the ability to take. The judges sign judgements day in and day out. Do your homework

Pay your bills. The calls will stop. Or be a coward and put them on notice. If you want to know how to do that look up the fdcpa

    Foolish
Luckily, 2 days ago a friend and neighbor told me of a very similar phonecall.

I was foolish to answer the phone with a name I didn't recognize:  Daniel N Gordon (541)342-2276.  He was polite, at first.  He did not identify himself but started off saying it was probably a long-shot but he was looking for Tammy.  He said he was with an attorney's office and they'd been looking for her and they had news.  Even though I don't know a Tammy, I asked who was calling.  (I remembered my friend's phonecall and I was hoping to get to the bottom of it.)  He simply said James.  I told him I thought it was curious that only two days ago a neighbor had told me of a similar "scam" phonecall.  Ooh, that made him mad.  He repeated (loudly) "scam phonecall?!!"  Then told me I needed to look up who Daniel Gordon Attorneys at Law were.  He hung up on me.  The funny thing is, he didn't even wait to see if I actually knew Tammy.

I imagine he was a debt collector but what relationship I have with his Tammy, I guess I'll never know.  What an awful job poor James has.

    Angry
Called my parents, who live in another state, asking about my husband's brother.  They are old and were very scared and confused.  Referred to my brother-in-law as their 'neighbor'.  Rude and Unacceptable behavior.  You got a problem with my brother-in-law...deal with him, not some shirt tail relative 3 states away, that don't even recognize the name.

As you can see, "Chris" is a punk kinda like Daniel N. Gordon.  My guess is that he is Danny-boy himself (he gets awful upset when Danny is bad-mouthed).

The Gordon business is run by a derelict and other pond-scum.  Get caller-id and get a wonderful program called 'Phone-Tray', it will block calls from these dirtbags and any others you don't want to speak with.  I use it all the time and I haven't heard or been bothered by Danny-boy since.

    Best Wishes,

A punk? How dare I call consumers and ask them to repay their obligations that they agreed to in the terms and conditions of the contracts they signed. Your right, I guess that does make me a punk. As far as working for Daniel Gordon, no I don't. Pretty much anyone in collections has a bad rap because everyone is looking to place the blame for their problems elsewhere. I do understand that anyone who has accounts in  collections is a person as well and deserves to be treated with respect. If you look at every one of my posts you will see that I was offering straightforward advice. What I am failing to see "Credit Guru" is why I am the punk when I, a collector of debt, came on this forum and gave legitimate advice to ill informed consumers am and you come in here and immediately start calling me names.

yes, Chris, a punk.  Many of these companies that have placed consumers into collection for bad debts gave them credit KNOWING that it was bad debt.  The debt has been sold many times over so that the consumer is forced to deal with scum who paid 10 cents on the dollar and will gladly take the consumer for all he can.  Responsible lenders would be responsible for their own credit policies and working with the consumer for the benefit of both.  You're not kidding anyone when you come on here saying you're "helping" respectfully - you are just another shark looking to make a quick buck for your boss and you don't care whose lives are being messed with.
