- Gigi replies to GigiMade a few calls and double checked who we owed payments to in the past, and we owe nothing, zip, zilch, to ANYONE. All bills are paid up, and everything is paid off in full. So if they are a spoofed caller and trying to scam us, definitely the wrong house. Even my family members are hard pressed to think of anything they owe money on. Spoof is my bet, since they didn't leave a message identifying themselves at all. Same m.o. as other spoofed numbers. Be aware and don't give out personal info, folks! Warn your aging parents or relatives about this too, since my elderly mother had someone grab hold of her credit card number before when she had taken her nightly meds and they called really early in the morning while she was groggy and scared her into 'confirming' the card number 'on her account'. These callers are vultures! Ugh!
- Fed upI am paying them monthly, don't dispute the bill. What I do have a problem with is that when I shed in my monthly payment, they take up to 10 days to post the payment. I send it monthly via certified mail and request a letter stating amount of payment, balance and date was posted. Very glad I send certified as las t month received a call wanting to know where payment was, able to provide usps certification number, date and time it was signed for, in addition was able to give them the money order number (never send a check with your personal info on it) y providing that info was able to prove they had the payment but had not posted it. As I told them, not ,y problem you do not post pay, nets in a timely manner. Always send payments in certified mail, use a onye order and request letter showing.pY net amount, Alan e and date posted to account.

- TomI have no debt. Have not had any in over a decade, and then only with my bank card. Definitely a scam in every sense of the word, as I am easy to locate. Block the number friends.
- Shelley york| 1 replyI have started paying this person back monthly through consumer credit counseling. When the credit counseling called them and asked if they were willing to take the amount I could pay they asked for more but said they would take that if it was all I could do. I have. Even paying over three months now, but this office is continuing to call me at work. I work at a relief nursery as an interventionist and I am the sole support of my family. I don't understand why I am still being harassed by them when I am trying

- Another loser in debtI got a call from this number a few minutes ago, around 5pm on a Tuesday. They immediately told me I was on a recorded line, and then began asking for personal information to confirm who I was. Didn't tell me it was an attempt to collect a debt, which, since they are a third party and NOT the initial creditor, they are required to do, AND since this was their first communication with me, they are ALSO required to do. This "mini-Miranda", as it is sometimes called, is legally required to prevent debt collectors from tricking consumers into providing information that could be used against them. Funnily enough, that is exactly what this guy tried to do. After stating it was a recorded line, he immediately began asking me for identifying information. He didn't even tell me who he was or what company he worked for.
First, he wanted to make sure I was still receiving mail at a particular address (to which I said "yes"), and then he asked me for the last four digits of my social security number. I told him that I was not going to give him that information because I have come across many instances where the last four digits of my social security number (along with my name, number, and address, which he now had confirmation of) were enough to "prove" who I was. Those last four digits can take a scammer a long way. He asked "why" , and I told him again. He laughed and told me that such information would not get anyone anywhere, and supposedly told me the last four digits of his own. So I repeated what I had already said (I should have pointed out that this is exactly the information HE was needing to prove I was me), and he began to get very hostile. He said that he couldn't move forward without that information and asked me again. To which I, again, said "no".
I was polite and calm, just firm. He raised his voice and repeated the request. I apologized. He then said that he would hang up now and try again on another day. I am not sure what he thinks he is going to accomplish "on another day", as I will still be me at that time, and I will still refuse to give that information without even knowing who I am talking to - and *especially* after they have broken the law by not providing me with a mini-Miranda reading BEFORE requesting such information. This guy is a slimeball. I would not recommend that anyone answer the phone if they see this number. This kind of trickery is disgusting, and exactly why debt collectors end up with such a bad rap. I have no problem with people calling me up and doing their job correctly and respectfully, but oftentimes this is what actually happens.- Caller: Gordon, Aylworth & Tami, PC Insurance Attorneys

- Another loser in debt replies to Shelley yorkThey are not allowed to call you at work. I found this while looking for information about illegal debt collection practices:
-No Contact at Inconvenient or Unusual Places-
The FDCPA prohibits debt collectors from contacting debtors at inconvenient or unusual places. Some workplaces, by their nature, are inconvenient places for debtors to take collection calls. Examples might include schools (if the debtor is a teacher), hospitals, funeral homes, and restaurants. If it's inconvenient for you to take calls at your job site, let the collector know.
Look into the FDCPA. These guys already broke the law when calling me. They did not inform me that they were attempting to collect a debt before asking for personal information - AND - since it was their first time contacting me, this is another instance where they are required to inform me that they were debt collectors. Hearing all of the bs these guys have already pulled or tried to pull, it wouldn't surprise me to find out they were breaking the law with you as well (such as contacting you at work). Look into it. - big red replies to tired of this [***] calling me tooi have gotten multiple calls from 5413422276 a gat law firm the woman says her name is leslie when i ask what this is about she says they cant divulge that over the phone so i hang up im also on a do not call list

- djg| 4 repliesJust called my cell phone. An app on my phone identified it as 'Suspected Spam'. I didn't answer. I checked them out. They apparently have a website and they appear to be legit of sorts. Of courser the number could have been spoofed. In any event I do not have any debt. In fact I haven't had any debt in decades. If they believe other wise they can send me a letter through the mail. I absolutely will not discuss finances or personal information over the phone with anyone. You have no idea with whom you're talking.

- Tygerkat replies to djg| 3 repliesYou say you "checked them out" but don't say who you checked out.
- djg replies to Tygerkat| 2 repliesTygerkat, If you google the number it shows it being associated with Gorden, Aylworth and Tami, a law firm in Eugene, OR, supposedly debt collectors. However, that does not mean it was they who called. The number could have been spoofed and used by spammers/scammers. In fact an app on my phone identified it as 'Suspected Spam'. These days when the phone rings, despite caller ID, you have absolutely no idea with whom you're talking.
- BigA replies to djgThose apps depend on reports from people receiving calls. Most people simply mark it as scam or spam simply because they don't want to take the time to make a correct report. By not talking to a debt collector, you are in essence giving up all your rights under the law, since they do not have to do anything until first contact is made. Regardless of who is calling, knowing your rights, knowing what they must do next is the most important part of determining whether they are actually debt collectors and what you should do next.
- Tygerkat replies to djgYes, I know about phone number spoofing. My point was - you said you checked them out yet failed to state what you had learned.
- William| 1 replyKeep getting calls for a Kate Chandler after I have told them, they have the wrong number. I already sent an email to their office to stop calling. Next step I file a complaint and demand compensation.
