THESE CALLS CAN BE BLOCKED !!!  "Call Forwarding Selective " from Lingo or a similar service from other VOIP providers.  (Confirm the provider has the capability I describe below before you switch your current phone service.)

With "Call Forwarding Selective" on Lingo you can reroute any types of calls that you deem to be harassing right back to the company so they end up harassing themselves.  With it you can route any quantity of phone numbers to any other numbers of your choosing.  (You can set up multiple rules as well such that you can also separately forward legitimate calls to your cell phone, for example.)

In a recent case for Absolute Collection Services I have already set up rules to forward "919-755-2*" and "919-755-3*" right back to 800-752-4172 (the callback number their robo-caller leaves), so the company will end up calling itself.  (In this case they're calling about a relative who is paying a medical bill in installments, so they shouldn't even be calling, and further they were informed not to call any more.)  Notice the asterisk wildcard on the incoming numbers.  In this case that means even if they have a block of 1000 phone numbers, anything that matches before the wildcard will be routed back to them.  You can block entire area codes if you wish by entering just the area code followed by an asterisk.  Of course you can also enter the full 10 digit number, and even longer numbers from foreign countries.  (And if you would prefer not to route calls back to them you could also use one of the special fake numbers set up, such as those for giving 'your' phone number out to strangers when you hate to say no but don't really want them to call you.)

This feature is wonderful.  Not only will you not be harassed, you'll get the satisfaction of knowing you're aggravating the hell out of them because they're not able to harass you, and instead they're causing their own phones to ring.  Every now and then you can go check your call log and see any calls that came in and were immediately forwarded.  And note that your phone never rings at all, and the originating caller ID information gets passed through to whatever forwarding number you set up.  Your number does NOT appear at the destination number's caller ID.  They may figure it out eventually, but they won't be able to do anything about it.

No, I don't work for Lingo.  I'm just tired of abusive collection services, telemarketers, etc., many of whom don't care whether they're calling the correct number or not.
    ---------------------

I copied and pasted this because it is  nice description. I have used Lingo for 7 years...i picked it up because I could call my kids in europe and talk as long as i like for no charge other than the monthly 24 dollars. I wish I had this back 10 years ago when I was getting harassed  by blood suckers 10 calls daily after my business went under.

There is great satisfaction and a power behind having the ability to beat them at their own game!!!

As the other posters are suggesting, this is NOT Google, though they try hard to IMPLY that they are without actually explicitly claiming it (so you can't get them for outright fraud).
This is extremely annoying as on at least one occasion I DID get an actual call from a real Google department (to verify the information in our Google Maps listing) so it took several minutes to work out the truth.

This appears to be coming from whatever "Search Engine Optimization" company owns "mycybercenter.com". The person I spoke to claims that they're a company "contracted by Google to give free consultation" My gut feeling is they're a company that got some sort of contract job from Google at one point, and now can legally say they are "a company contracted [past tense] by Google" while giving you a sales pitch.

I'd love to find some way to contact Google directly and ask them what the relationship is with this company...

Here's the deal: Anyone can optimize their website in a Google search engine ANYBODY. You just have to know how to do it. Scammers and even legitimate companies are calling offering their 'services' to do this for you for a fee. The reason they hang up and are persistent to talk to the 'person in charge' is they want to do the hard sell because they need the money NOW because they know what they are doing is something my grandmother could do if she cared to do it.
Only thing illegal would be if they take your money and not perform the duties, which many may just do.  I don't do business with anyone that calls us. If we need anything we call them or search them out...it's just the way it is!  SCAMMERS TAKE NOTE.  Gotta check out that Lingo thing too. We use Vonage and have for years but they don't even offer a call block function!  We have our office phone transferred to my cell 34/7 365 for about 10 years just to screen calls. I have a good 180 numbers marked as IGNORE. Ridiculous really.

I am soooooo sick of these people calling me.  It is some group claiming to be with Google and they are selling websites.  They have been calling me for over a year and I have been very clear that I don't want to do business with them.  I do not even think that they are with Google at all.

Claimed to be Google, and stated that I needed to register my Google Places page for my business at a charge of $400.  When I said I wasn't interested, he was extremely rude to me.  I have never been spoken to so rudely before, especially by someone who wanted money from me.

I would like to echo what "A" said two posts above.  These are the rudest telemarketers I have ever had to deal with.  Being in a scammy business is one thing, but they have decided to couple that with hiring the most un-personable sales people in history.  Nice going Cyber Center.  Hope this all works out well for you.

Called, but didn't leave a message.  It was strange that number showed in my caller id as having a + before the number.  Thanks to this site I know it's a telemarketer, and it sounds like the same jackholes which have called from many different numbers in the past.   The number has been added to my phone's contact list as a telemarketer and assigned a silent ringtone.

Said they were from Google, but immediately suspected they weren't. Said for $399 my company could have a knowlege based infographic appear in a search. Wanted lots of information right away. When I asked them to send me what they needed in an email, they got short with me and hung up. Knew then that it was a scam. Google does not charge for their knowledge graph searches.

Glad you had this posting to verify what I already thought...SCAM.  They claim they are Google certified specialists..didn't think so.  As I was on the phone with them I did a quick Google search on the phone number they called from and this popped up.  I hung up immediately!  Thank You to all that posted!
