I also received a response to my Craig's list ad. Thank you so much for reporting this.  I was not comfortable with what I received either.   It will be interesting to see how he responds to my Paypal payment request. I will let you know.

I got a response to my ad from two different people with the same response. THey both want to pay by e-check.

Here is the reply that I received concerning my request for a payment via Paypal from Christ Crathbun.  Very similiar e-mail address as above except 10 instead of 9 and has added some letters to his name.   BEWARE!!!!

How does someone profit from this scam?  I have recieved bogus checks like this from scamers before and they dont clear.  I dont see how they proffit except causing you a pain in the ass.

I received the same email today!!! Such a scam!

He sends you the check that he has counterfeited using a large yet innocent corporation, government, or company's real banking information...you deposit it...it "clears" if he is lucky...you wire the "excess" to him via Western Union...the corporation/government/company realizes at a later date that some bogus check has cleared their account...they get their bank to reach back into YOUR account and recoup the funds...you are left HOLDING THE BAG.  So sad.  Think about this, though:  why would someone pay $2,100 to ship a $300 clunker to them several states away?  I hope they find this person.  He has cost my company a ton of lost time because he is using OUR banking information at the bottom of his scam checks.

I received a craiglist response from Melissa Sindela (msindela303gmail.com), offering to buy my furniture at full price, through her secretary because she is on tour.  She would pay by cashiers check, blah, blah.  It sounded fishy.  Thankfully I found your info. and a rip-off was avoided.  

So apparently these scam artists have not been stopped.  BEWARE
