Yep, just happened here in Colorado too.

The persons name was KARLA AKEMANN (Account Representative). After I recieved the "verify address" e-mail I had to do a search. Glad I found this site.  I shot back a reply to this e-mail with a cancellation notice at Service@PBPInfo.com. I also forwarded this to their corporate e-mail address (recruiting@pbp.com).  I recieved a delivery confirmation for the 2nd one but not the first. I also requested a read reciept but will probably not get one back I will be contacting them by phone to again make sure that this 'risk free trial" is cancelled before it even begins. I will be recording this call.

    Thanks for the heads up.

I have received 2 calls from ICR's Amanda Spreg, she claims that I owe $299 for a publication that I neither received or ordered. Our General Counsel has told me to turn it over to him if I receive any more calls.

Same for me...Katie called, quite nasty, unwilling to provide any documentation without "committing to pay" but under Federal Law she has to provide the info or the debt can not be proven to be legal...asked for her manager, claimed she was the manager...even called me nasty...calling Progressive Business Publications to give them a piece of my mind and get this straightened out...sounds like a scam!

I recieved this notice from Subscriber_Services@PBPInfo.Com 2 weeks after I cancelled service:

"We're sorry you decided to end your risk-free subscription to Environmental Compliance Alert. As promised, we have processed your request to cancel. You may receive one additional issue before your subscription is terminated, which you can keep with our compliments.
If your cancellation was a mistake, please call us at the number below for immediate reinstatement."

I did recieve the first issue which I immediately returned along with a print-out of the e-mail confirming my cancellation.

I will update if I recieve a 2nd issue or an invoice.

AMANDA SPRAUGE called our Senior VP saying we owed money for a newsletter we don't get. I called her back explaining the one we do get and that we received free trial subscriptions for 5-6 other newsletters from the same place. She cut me off from talking, said I was rude and unprofessional. She was supposed to fax me the invoice but amazingly it didn't arrive. Called her back this morning and still waiting for the "invoice" to arrive. She can't email it because it would track back to them. Looked up the number & found that they are a scam agency! Check out what the BBB has on them!  Over 590 complaints!!!!

Received multiple phone calls from Angela stating that I accepted a free trial offer and then did not cancel in 30 days.  At our business, it is our practice to not accept free trials and when unsolicited information is received, it is returned with a "did not order" written on the envelope.   I have also researched the company who sent the administrative information.  This originating company also has multiple complaints as to sending unsolicitied information and then trying to bill for it.   Angela pressed the issue and when requested for an invoice as well as contact information from the company, she refused and said I had to pay today or they would process it through.   I told her the bill would not be paid as this was not something our business had requested or accepted.   I have my misgivings about any business that acts the way that she did and absolutely fails to prove or send anything to substantiate the charge.

How do you actually get the invoices to stop? I read somewhere to deal only in writing so my plan is to mail back the invoice and publication with the word Cancel written on the top of the invoice. Will this make the bills stop or do I have to verbally threaten to call BBB or PA AG's office? Any advice would help in this matter.

Wow, Jack!  Judging from your spelling and grammar, my 11 year old son could run Coca Cola if you are in a position to be making marketing decisions for the company!  I am going to take a wild guess and say that you DON'T work for Coca-Cola.  Nice try, however.  The same shady tactics that PBP uses!

I received a call from Kelly at ICR, #607-748-4686.  She indicated I subscribed to Selling Advantage magazine in February of 2011,  claims giving my DOB was confirmation of an order.  Really!!!!! She called me indicating my company was in collections and I had to pay immediately.  I told her to present a written order, and PO # from my company any any other proof.  She could not do so and indicated my order was verbal.I transfered Kelly to our accounts payable department and again told her to provide a PO # to the AP group. Later she called my management and told my supervisor I was being uncooperative with her.  After reading all the posts on this site,  I'm now more confident then ever that this is a scam.  Kelly tried to strong arm me, then tried to use my employer against me.  Who confirms an order with a DOB?  My DOB is posted everywhere, facebook, company birthday club,  it's even in the public birth records!  Jeez!

I just recieved a call from them at my business from a woman named Angel claiming that I ordered a magazine. When I told her I had no knowledge of this magazine order. She said that my name is attached to the invoice, so she was going to make my company pay. I told her I had no idea about an invoice, then she said is your birthday such and such. How would they get your birthday if you didn't order this magazine. I stated I am not sure. Then she said is your company in a habit of not paying bills. I said well sometimes. She got mad and asked me who was the accountant for my company. I told her probably the Department of Treasury. I am a federal employee. She said well we will find out and sue you company. I said ok and hung up. Then they called me back about an hour later wanting to know my position. I told her that I didn't have a position. Then she said you are pulling my leg. I will talk with your account recievables department and they will eat the cost of this magazine with your name on it. I said "uh, ok" and she hung up. Something needs to be done about these people.

I got a call from Amanda.  Same story as the others.  I was out of town when they allegedly had my "taped" conversation, said I agreed to get this publication, I have never heard of it nor received a bill from them.  Incredibly rude.  She put me on hold to "talk to her supervisor" and I hung up.  We'll see if she calls back.

    Cynthia Thomas
    Branch Manager
      ICR
    607-748-4686
    cthomas@intlcreditrec.com

I will need proof of the order for this invoice. This is a normal business request and should not be meet with belligerence. I understand that you may not be responsible for providing this proof of order, but this company does not pay any invoice without proof of order.

Just received a call from Cynthia Thomas saying she is processing the claim against our companies credit if I don't pay $299 today on a credit card.  She said that since I only received 5 newsletters that she can cut the amount down to $130 if I pay today.  She had my birthday on record?!

She is supposed to be emailing me some paperwork to show my boss but now I see from all the other posts that this place is a scam.
