- PhilThe Caller ID belongs to Nomorobo. When a call is blocked by Nomorobo, the caller has an opportunity to respond to a captcha. (Random number they have to respond to in order to prove they are a person rather than a recorded message.) If they respond correctly, Nomorobo forwards the call using the CID 608-371-6666 *regardless* of the caller's actual area code or number. So, a caller from Illinois (for example) could be displayed with this Wisconsin area code.
I don't know if Nomorobo is able to determine the difference between their own outgoing call and a robocaller spoofing their number.
The way I see it, if it's worth the time for the caller to enter the captcha, then they should be willing to take the time to leave a VM. So, I don't answer. If they don't leave a message, it couldn't have been that important.- Caller: Nomorobo
- Cbp replies to disgusted againI use NOMOROBO too... Got through after first coming from 2124636279 (Engine Group)
- JOJOSo 608-371-6666 is actually NOMOROBO, basically when a person calls your line they get intercepted by NOMOROBO. The telemarketer gets a message to enter a CAPTCHA numeric code, if they answer correctly, they get re-directed back to you using the NOMOROBO number. So usually you'll get a call from the telemarketer, it stops after 1 ring, and then a few seconds later the 608-371-6666 calls you if they answer the numeric code correctly. NOMOROBO stops robotic calls pretty reliably, but if they have a live person they can bypass NOMOROBO.

- PatriciaReceived a call from this # and the voice mail they left said to call back at 877-366-0014 which is a debt collector. They left no name as to who they were calling

- Kathy Starr| 1 replyKeeping calling my house. I don’t answer, but the caller ID says SSI
- Caller: SSI
- Bar| 1 replyRude, once you tell them to never call back they start cussing at you. We have call blocking, now we won’t have to them any longer
- ChetSimilar to others, the "perp" called 5x in 2 mins. Nomorobo "grabs" it after 2 rings. Tedious, though, to listen to that ringing. My voice provider (COMCAST) needs to step up their "game" and give us more control.

- EdWhat you're receiving is a redirect from NOMOROBO. The original call gets redirected from you by nomorobo and then is picked up by nomorobo with a message to enter a code. If the code is entered correctly, nomorobo redirects the call back to you but with the 608-371-6666 phone number.
It's not a robo-call, it's a call center with an (insert obscene/profane words here) idiot calling you manually. The longer you can keep the caller on the line, the worse his/her performance will be at the call center. This will be reflected in her/his pay for the day. If you're lucky, they'll get fired for poor scamming performance.- Caller: no-mo-robo

- PO'dThese are CRIMINALS, trying to steal your identity. I'd like to know their carrier as the history shows that this number has been used for YEARS with a myriad of different criminal activities and lies, trying to get our personal data. The carrier should be prosecuted for promoting and being complicit in criminal activity.

- Juni replies to EggManNice! That's awesome. Getting them back like that. Same thing happened to me, but I didn't block the calls.
- Juni replies to sadieOooooh, be careful if they speak poor English and have a strong accent. I heard those calls could come from other countries and they could put the bill into your account for the call. That's what I've heard. So to pass it on. If I answer calls with that kind of strong accent, I hang up, immediately. Now, it comes to a point that I don't answer the phone to ANYONE unless the number is familiar (landline or home number). OR I don't have voicemail (cell phone). And I only give my cell number to text, I tell them not to call. I might give places like work and school (though I am no longer in school) both numbers, and other places my home number only.
- Juni replies to Kathy StarrI've gotten one of those kinds of calls too; I didn't answer it, either. IF it's an important number, they'll leave a VM. If they call my cell, than I know its a hoax, because I don't give out my cell number to people I don't know.
- Juni replies to BarTRUE! If they start cussing at you, then you know that its a bad call. Because if it was from a real company, they HAVE to be pleasant, whether you get nasty to them or not! Some call blocking doesn't work; they only lasts a few months and then it reverses back.
- LeslieAI received a call from this number yesterday. Today, I noticed four more calls. They must be using nomorobo's number to try to get through.
