- osualumStudents from OSU student calling center. They call to receive donations toward certain programs at the university. I worked at the call center as a freshman and there was nothing worse than when an alumni of the university you currently attend tells you to "f off" over the phone. If you don't want to be contacted anymore then simple tell them to add you to their do not contact list. Just be polite! It's not that much of an inconvenience for you to pick up your phone for 5 minutes and talk (we all know you aren't that busy).

- osugrad| 1 replyAnnoying student asking for money for OSU... they could at least just be upfront about why they are calling, rather than asking you all kinds of inappropriate questions that don't actually interest them such "do you have a job yet"...

- Mary GOSU keeps calling and not leave a message. Caller ID shows OSU AT 614-247-6239. No one answers when I call that number.
Called OSU main phone at: 292-6446 on 26 May. Was told that number came from the Development Office. She connected me and the man said he did not recognize that number. But said he would try to get the phone calls stopped.- Caller: Ohio State University
- NotTooNiceOSU replies to TomAfter the nice sounding person asked for my husband, and I kinding said he was not available may I help with something...they hung-up on me. Really nice representation from a Big 10 college calling an Alumni's home. I totally understand why people are not too pleased with getting calls from this number. Plus, when you call back, they do not answer.
- Becky replies to jo| 2 repliesJo,
They're definitely students. My sister used to do calls before she graduated. Have a little compassion and stop being so cynical. :)
-Becky - toadIt's an auto dialer. I've gotten 3 calls a month for the past 6 months. Just let it ring and never got a message.

- Alumnus replies to HK| 1 replyThe problem is-- I have answered and politely declined several times, considering I am a recent double graduate and swimming in student loan debt and still searching for job in this lovely economy, and politely ask to be removed from the call list, and I STILL get calls. At least the loan companies wait six months before asking for our money. OSU called asking for donations even before I received my degree in the mail. This is not about the students calling and asking for money, it's about the sloppy higher ups and administration that will sacrifice their alumni (many of whom have already invested tens or even hundreds of thousands of dollars into student tuition and can barely rub two dimes together to show for it) for any nickle or dime available. The fourth time I get a call from this number, after answering three times and asking to be taken off of the list, I'm probably going to sound a little rude, or at least irritated...
- Will S.Its also a problem when they call you again and again from the different fundraising groups when you are already giving. Plus there are too many fundraising areas for the foundation to really handle. I just give to the University Foundation and they can move it where they want. I may get annoyed, but I won't ever be rude to the student.....I just can't do that to young working buckeyes. I think the best thing is to just contact the staff for foundation relations. Their names, numbers and email are listed on the foundation site.

- BethanyIt's OSU . . . they never stop calling me. I've told them plenty of times that I'm working parttime, still in school, and can't donate. I just received a call at 8pm . . . little late for telemarketing. I blocked their number so it wouldn't go through (by blocking all non-address books in my cell phone) for about three months, hoping the automatic disconnect would pull me off the list. Nope! Unblocked my calls, and here they come . . .

- AnotherOSUgrad replies to osugradOh, sure they're interested . . . that way they know just how demanding they can be when asking for money, or if they should try to just wheedle a little bit . . .
- DaveI work an odd shift and I get a call from this number and it wakes me up. I don't mind getting up if it's important, but NOT from someone that can barely speak English. The person couldn't even pronounce my name right. By doing a reverse search, it indicated it came from Westerville.
If they can't even say my name right I just hang up after saying "You got the wrong number".- Caller: unknown
- CraigOSU Calling Center calls my cell phone 2x a day every day, i have updated my profile and I do not donate money, I have their number blocked now, when I check the phone logs I can see that they continute to call every F_cking day. I have called back but the mailbox is always full, if I call the center office you get routed/bounced around and never get to tell then to stop calling.

- AntonioI get it...these are students calling. And they are very persistent. But I am not an alumnus. My son is a freshman with exactly $0 in aid and an increasingly large amount of loans. If I had $100 to give I'd send them to my son. He'll give the money to OSU eventually via tuition etc.

- LCJo, these are students calling from the OSU call center. My daughter's friend did this last year. It's not just for alumni; I didn't attend OSU and they still call me. My daughter, however, is a student there at the moment.
- Poor Dad replies to HKI get calls on average 4-5 times a week sometimes multiple times a day.
Given that I pay OSU approx 30,000.00 a year to go there I would hope they have more compassion for my empty wallet. Out of state fees are horrendous, even with a kid who has been on the Deans list EVERY quarter for 3-1/2 years the school is very uncaring about anything but what they can get out of your wallet. - oscemployeeOkay, I am a current student at The Ohio State University. I am also a current employee at Ohio State Calling.
Here's a few fun facts:
1. We will continue to call you until we get a decision, yes or no.
2. We are REQUIRED to ask you for money 3 times
3. Don't just say "send me something"... that not going to happen.
4. Saying you're busy or you do not have time to talk will only make us call you back tomorrow
5. Ohio State is very unique in the fact that athletics and academics are COMPLETELY separate.
6. NONE of the money we raise from these phone calls go to anything involving the athletic department
Here's a few tips
1. ANSWER THE PHONE
2. Either tell us NO 3 times, or just hang up. No need to be rude.
3. POLITELY ask us to be taken off the list.
We are all just poor college kids trying to make our way through. - OSU Fire BuckThis wasn't a telemarketing call for me at all. This was a thank you call for a donation I made to the James Cancer Hospital.

- jn replies to TomGee Whiz. I've just read some of the replys.
C'mon, guys, get a life. Calls asking for financial support is the American way.
All you need to do is to tell the caller that you would like to help but you can't until we get out of this Obama Recession, so until then all you can do is wish them luck. They will reply politely.
Then you finish it off by saying "Thank you for calling" and have your finger ready on the hang-up button before they can say any more.
By being nice to everyone, even people you don't like, you will more than likely become someone I am pleased to share our common heritage with.
Being an Ohio State graduate hasn't made me rich, but I have never been without a job - even for one day.
And if someday you see my tombstone in the cemetery, you'll see "Ohio State" listed on it, right after "Jesus", "Family", "Country".
