i got a message today, all garbled too, saying something about grants for starting small businesses.

i appreciate chris's optimism above, but if you're pretending to be giving out canadian AND quebec government grants, you're clearly a scam!

everyone knows the canadian and quebec governments wouldn't have one place giving out grants for both of them, that would require effective communication between two levels of government!!!

come on, if you're gonna try to scam me, don't act like i'm an idiot...

oh, and they didn't give an extension.

I went to their Website, looked for companies in Ontario, and then looked up the companies they listed. Funny thing, many of the companies don't exist!

They left a pre-recorded message on my voice mail offering help for my debt problems, a 3 month break from payments, interest free something or other, etc.  All I have to do is call 613-216-9686.  Obviously a scam.

    Original call display from 641-715-3900.

Message said if I was having problems with debt collectors to call 519-913-2441, that I could get a 3 month break from creditors, and that consultation is free.

Got a call from these effing asshats this very afternoon as a matter of fact!

The script the bee-yatch read aloud in the pre-recorded message went (I have transcribed it as faithfully as humanly possible) as follows:

"Are you still havng debt troubles? Collection agencies calling? Making payments that get you nowhere? Finally, theres a brand new consumer protection programme which guarantees a three month break from paying
your ceditors and can provide you with an interest free repayment plan that you can afford. No more borrowing! No need for bankrpputcy! And no more stress! For a free consultation call now, at 647 477 8358. Make the call.
    You'll be glad you did!"

That by the way is an Ontario, Canada exchange, mostly for cellular phone service and/or the Mississauga area (next door to Toronto) if I am not mistaken.

Well anyway, since you can't exactly reach out and physically bee-yatch-slap the bee-yatch in the message, here is my alternative suggestion which I hope you will enjoy:

Call them back! Call them at the number they invite you to use, as listed above (647-477-8358) BUT BUT BUT ---> be sure to hit *67 first to block your number from being identifiable to them!!!

When/if anyone actually answers, simply barrel forward, relentlessly but clearly, just like their recording, using the same cheerful, confident (and confidential) tone! Remember not to speak quickly. Works best if you draw it out! Inform them of the following GREAT new service:

"Are you still having troubles making telemarketing successful for your business? Potential customers not responding as positively you thought they would? Getting blowback from harassed consumers who refuse to become customers because you've been trying to contact them within their own home?... their only refuge from constant commercial incursions? Finally, there's a brand new sales protection programme which guarantees you won't lose potential customers by making cold calls to them that they don't want to receive in the first place, and can provide you with a way to be able to look yourself in the mirror and sleep at night. No more slimy autodialing! No more sleazy telemarketing! No more trying to tiptoe around privacy and telecommunications laws that are only going to become more strict as consumers increasingly resist telemarketers more forcefully and in ever greater numbers. For a free consultation, call 1-800-382-5633, that's 1-800-F___-Off. We'll be glad you did! And by the way, the programme itself is called STOP YOUR EFFING TELEMARKETING!"

Just picked up a call from this number but no one answers the line, just quiet. What's the purpose of a telemarketing call when they don;t even answer the phone when someone picks up.

hi, i recieved an email saying please call me bac6417153900.  so I called it back and listened to the message which seemed to descibed what you called a pyramid.  basically what they want you to do is pledge 500, 1000, 2000 or any combination of those amounts not exceeding 3500.  this amount that you pledge goes to whichever one of there members that contacted you, they called this your qualifier.  once you have qualified the next person you find to pledge from there stock pond you get there pledge plus there qualifying pledge and then so on.  you will receive only the amount that you pledge though so if you didn't pledge the full 3500 the remainder will go to the person next in line that pledged enough.  now i hope this makes sense but just in case Im gonna use names like they did.  so i pledge 3500 now i find bob he pledges 3500 that is my qualifyer which goes to whomever contacted me. now im qualified to start makin my own money.  so now i start my own receiving line.  i get jack to pledge 3500, now jack needs to qualify he finds jane she pledges 3500 so now i get 3500 from jane plus her qualifying pledge.  now jack can start his own receiving line.  so jane finds pete for her qualifier which i get plus petes qualifier and so on.  so it makes sense but its just a bunch of people passing around money there is no product.  it seems like it could work.  but at the sametime seems sketchy.  i left my name and number at the end of the recording so they will call me back and answer some of my questions and give me a web adress to go to.  but i'm not really sure what questions i should ask and was hoping you would have some info for me because you seemed to know what you were talking about in your message.  any advice would be great because i definetly don't want to work for the man the rest of my life.  my email is j.ajeto@yahoo.com

Telemarketing should be banned in this country. These lowlifes are the scum of the earth, all compiled into one cancerous entity. I'd like to know the address they are working from. The phone companies who let them run their business with constant harrassment, are equally at fault. Get a real job. One that contributes to society. I pity telemarketers, but they have a choice, and so they should use it.
