This number calls everyday several times a day I don't know who it is they never leave any message so i don't answer!!#!

answering machine picked up-it started to say,"from an add you saw on tv..."-and it hung up

I don't answer any numbers I don't know.  It was a partial recording.

I think since I went on Medicare - all the vultures are trying to sell me [***] I don't need!

Can anyone recommend a good blocking device?

Samething, New York call from caller ID, Like I said before its time the phone co. steps in for the consumer, to much crime.
to many people getting hurt with this phone scamming. Its like walking right in your front door , here Mr. scammer, have a seat, can I get you anything while you sift for my personal information, oh, and when your done, just leave the door cracked for the next scammer. Geeeee;s   Come on phone co. help your customers its getting out of hand.  Its not worth having a phone anymore

Received a call from1-646-502-9187.  Caller ID was New York, NY.  I gave it the one ring pickup and immediate hangup.  Checked 800 Notes and have blocked this number.

We received a call from New York 1-646-502-9187 today.  Anytime our caller ID says New York we are on alert!  We don't answer  calls from any number that we do not recognize. I love having a CPR call blocker!  This baby will block 1200 calls.  New York, you are blocked!  Bring it.

It is about back problems, or so they claim...
I pushed #1 to speak to a spammer, who picked up and asked "How are you doing today?"
I said "not good."
She, caught off guard/script, paused, and then said, "Oh. I'm sorry to hear that."
She then asked if I had back problems.
"No," I said.
She then hung up.

Well since the call originated from New York maybe our AG Schneiderman will help us. Nah he's too busy suing businesses

I go one too.  As soon as the phone stopped ringing I blocked the number.  You can turn them into the DNC list people all you want.  They don't do a f...ing thing!  I's nothing but a "feel good" program that the Government put into effect to make you think they care.

Great info ROX. I feel bad that I usually can't offer more information on BS calls as I never answer them. I just put them in my call blocker and forget about them. At least I can offer input to the fact that I did receive a particular call i.e. the above mentioned number.

Just received call from this number. Did not answer and looked it up on 800notes. Number is now blocked. Not sure if others have this feature, but our new phone set allows not hearing the first ring from callers on block-list. This is worth the price of the new phones for this feature.

3/19/15  4PM - Robo caller message -

" Recording telling me that they were calling me back as requested regarding a back brace I saw on TV and my insurance will cover the cost".

No working relationship, never contacted anyone regarding a back brace, just one more attempt to scam.

Robo call telling me it's a return call about a back brace I saw on TV. They're trying to get people to sign off on getting their product so they can screw the American people by charging medicare an incredible amount for a junk piece of equipment.

Just because you have a call blocker doesn't mean they can't call you again. Do you think they call you from just one number?  They have banks of different numbers to call you from. Sometimes the number that shows up on your caller i.d. isn't even their actual number. It's a "spoofed." I once got a call ostensibly from my own husband's name/number (we have two separate lines in my house, different by one digit...the last one). I answered it and it was a scammer!!!

So the primary rule in this mess remains the same: Do not answer ANY calls from numbers you do not know. Each time you do you hurt the rest of us by giving them what they want...ACCESS. With access, they can suck in the gullible and the elderly and the uninformed, and when that happens, they can scam their victims out of their hard-earned money. That's a great day for them.

So....DO NOT EVER ANSWER THESE CALLS!!! If you don't have a call blocker, try to get one. They really help. Otherwise, let the call go to caller-i.d. Don't worry about missing legitimate calls. Legitimate callers leave messages.

The phone company won't do that because they are making money from the scammers, too.

What do you want them to do for you, that you cannot do for yourself?

Phone companies are "common carriers".

That means they must allow everybody to use their services, unless the company is notified by law enforcement that the user is committing crimes.

So, the phone company cannot universally block a number merely because YOU complain ... however, they might give you the ability to block those calls to YOUR phone.  Even better, you can protect yourself, by using a call blocking phone, app or other device.

Do not depend on others to enforce rules or policies YOU invent!  Protect yourself!

What kind of phone do you have that blocks 2000 calls? I need one

Scammers...having answered this one before, I know.  Shame we pay for our telephone service to be harassed by such lazy low-lifes.  I think our government officials should put forth an effort to stop this, goodness knows, they don't seem to be doing anything else for the American people!

months.  when i finally got the atty gens involved, they said i had called them to request info. there would have
been no way that i'd do this but then the company has a staff if lawyers.  the stopped calling finally.  never
answer nos you don't recognize.  so, write your representative (maybe he can read).
