- icapricorn| 1 replyNever ever pick up the call or press a digit on the phone to respond to these calls. This only confirms to the spammer that they have a working number with a live person behind it. The calls are being dialed by a machine combining numbers at random, fishing to find real ones. This is why mentioning the Do Not Call Registry results in a hangup but doesn't stop the calls. Why " Press 3 to be taken off our list" doesn't stop the calls. All you are doing is inviting more harassment. Of course, it's illegal, but the calls are actually coming from a foreign country, no matter what it says on the display. I suspect the people who are getting multiple calls from this, or any, spam caller, made the mistake of responding to one of the first calls.

- Caller: Credit Card Scam
- Call type: Telemarketer
- Bonnie replies to icapricornIt is hard not to pick up the phone - sometimes they are actually real phone calls.
- Linda RoperIt's a recording (caller ID says Kenmare ND). The person in the recording is called Heather and she says she is from "my" credit card company, but she is not. If you listen to the entire message, they want to get you on the line. They say they're going to save you money on your credit card bill. I've received called from this ver same outfit numerous times over the past couple of years, however, I think this is a new and different phone number, but it's the identical recording with "Heather". Last year, I talked to them just to see what they would ask for, and guess what, they ask for your full name, address, date of birth, and your current credit card number. I think they asked for my social security number as well. They scatter all these questions out during the conversation so you won't realize they're collecting data to rip you off. I gave them all fake info just to tie up their phone line and waste their time as they were wasting mine. There should be some way to catch these [***].
