Seriously, this number belings to United Healthcare. That information has to be verified, as this is a part of HIPAA, which is a federal program. Signed into law in 1996 by, then, President Bill Clinton. This number is NOT a scam. How do I know? United healthcare is my employer. If you wish that United Healthcare not contact you, let us know when you recieve a call from UHC.

UHC will be fined $10,000 for not verifying HIPAA. If you wish that UHC not call you, let the associate know, at the time of your call, that you would rather we (yes, I said WE because I am a UHC employee) not contact you.

763-274-3899 is the main number to United Healthcare's offices in Bloomington, MN, which is the headquarters. 1-800-955-7976 is to a service center of United Healthcare (staffed by United Healthcare employees) that will contact those who have UHC as their insurance provider. How do I know? I am employed by UHC and work at the service center with the number of 1-800-955-7976. With everyone having issues with identity theft (and for good reason), EVERY insurance provider, hospital, doctor's office, Urgent Care, Convenient Care as to verify information due to HIPAA laws in one way or another. Because if HIPAA would not be verified, all CONFIDENTIAL medical information will be available to everyone!!! I am speaking, not as a healthcare imployee, but a citizen and a patient. Verifying HIPAA is worth it if it ensures that no one has access to my medical records BUT me and my healthcare providers. But, if some of you wish not to be contacted by your insurance provider, let the associate know that you wish not to be contacted via phone. Also, your insurance providers call you after you have been discharged from the hospital and, honestly, the only way to avoid those calls is to try and not be admitted to the hospital (if it can be helped). And, if you all want to "verify" the number that called you, ask the associate for their call back number and extension and call them back. But, just know that the same information that the associate asked for (for HIPAA verification) will be asked when you call in. I don't know of any LEGIT healthcare provider that will not go through the HIPAA process with callers, patients, Power of Attorney's, or Executor of Estates (I went through HIPAA when I served as my mother's Power of Attorney and, later, Executor of Estate). Honestly, you stand a MUCH greater chance of having your identity stolen when you use your credit card at P.O.S locations (and purchasing on websites that don't begin with https://) than you do by verifying HIPAA. So, if HIPAA verification is a problem for you, my suggestion is that you write to your State Rep and complain about it. And, until them, if someone calls and ask you to verify something, find out who they are, where they calling from, get the number and their extension, and you call them back. And, just know this, even criminals can get your sensitive information (like your credit report). I had one call me asking for $4422.00 from a "credit card" that I opened in 1989......apparently when I was 13!!! When you get a call and the caller ID says 763-264-3899, it is United Healthcare and that number is our main switchboard in Bloomington, MN. And, when asked, we will give you the number, where we are located, and our extension. Simply because that's fair. And we are NOT telemarketers. We ONLY call those who have ELECTED TO HAVE UNITED HEALTHCARE AS THEIR MAJOR MEDICAL INSURANCE PROVIDER!!!!! We don't solicit what you have chosen upon your own free will.

They are probably scammers.  I just answered a call from this number.  The lady asked for the wrong person and I informed her she had the wrong #. Less than a minute she called back from (952) 367-8000  asking for the same person.  There are similar posts about that #.

I received a call from this number from a certain  Julie stating she's from UHC and that she's wanted to verify my son's dob and address. I asked her to call me in 5 minutes and she called me much later. I hunged up on her the second time and I called the number to verify it. I got a recording stating that the number was no longer in service and that it's an old UHC number. I'm suspecting a scam in session

I received a call from this same number 276-274-3899 today asking to verify my date of birth and address to which they had...I called the number back and got a recording indicating the UHC number is no longer in service. I then called UHC personel and was told they had no record of anyone contacting me today. The person used the name of James to indentify himself and said he was with the treatment decison support team with UHC.

UHC personel stated they do have that department, but was concerned when they called the number and discovered it was not a working number. Anyone else recently received this call?

I received a call from 1-763-274-3899. But the guy wants me to call him back at 1-800-349-0550 ext. 65123 or ext. 69123 I couldn't understand which. His accent seems to be African or Caribbean and his accent is so poor I couldn't understand everything he said. He had my name correct and the name of my HMO correct but 800-349-0550 is not one of their numbers. He said he wants to ask me some more questions and to do something else but I couldn't understand what else because he is so difficult to understand. I suspect it is one of those scams from the Caribbean or Africa. I am not going to call back to either 763-274-3899 or to 800-349-0550.

I am a UHC employee and this number called me. They ARE UHC employees calling, it's a generic line that's used. If you worked with an advocate to help you find a provider or to schedule an appointment they will call you from this number to confirm or follow up! This is not a SCAM!

My elderly mother uses united healthcare and recently got home from surgery. Ever since then we've been tons of calls from 3 different area codes, including this phone number. I read the complaints on here. Today, I decided to let my mother answer since the lady said she is amy mother's case manager. Within 15 seconds of talking to the woman, she started asking for my mother's birthdate and address. United already knows all this info! the caller tried to tell my mother she needed to verify info was correct. my mom asked the woman to repeat info and she would let her know if it was correct. the caller came up with an excuse not to say.

These are identity thieves. I think there is a bunch of people who make an effort to work at united healthcare, or have found a way to get phone numbers of their clients. they then call these people to try to get their personal info.

These scumbags prey on elderly people, and they know united healthcare clients are filled with them.

I have since blocked all numbers.

No company is going to call people from 4 different area codes.

    763-367-3745:

Screw you! This is no solicited call, and there is no associate to tell to stop calling! If it is indeed a UHC number (UHC told me on the phone that it is NOT), then they need to get ahold of themselves.

    This sucks.
