This is the phone number that the Registered Nurse from United Healthcare calls me from.  Her voice mail gives the number for the 24 hour Time Warner Cable Nurse Line. My husband works for Time Warner Cable and we have United Healthcare. I don't know if this number is just United Healthcare or if it is specific to Time Warner Cable employees that need to speak to a Registered Nurse. Either way if they call you it is not to harass you it is to help you with a medical condition you have been seen for recently or a billing issue. Also the same nurse will call every time so it is not multiple ladies calling saying their name is Judy, it is one person calling named Judi.

I tend to believe the call I got from 888-866-8295 is legit, but I still didn't give them any info.  When I asked why they were calling me, they said they couldn't let me know until I gave them my date of birth.  I refused and hung up.

I have great respect for nurses and for the fact that these calls could possible help all of us (in this country) spend our health care dollars more effectively.  But if they don't approach us in a proper manner, clearly identifying who they are and why they're calling, they shouldn't expect cooperation from us.

I just received a call from the same number in my cell phone and they did not leave a message. I usually answer my cell phone because I only give that number to people I do either know or they are on my cell phone caller ID. Well, since they wasn't on my cell phone caller ID I did not answer. They did not leave a message either. I call the number back and the number has a message that said....You have call a United Healthcare number that is no longer in service and then the call is lost. That's the way the phone answer when the United Healthcare employee is not log on to their phone to received your call.

I received the call again and on my cell phone and this time I answer as I figured it has to be someone I know. I work for United Healthcare and call was actually from United Healthcare, someone at work was trying to reach me!! We have RN's and Service Coordinators at United Healthcare that call from this number either to do a member assesment or advise the member of service provider, benefits, etc. So please do not be so quick to judge the call as a scam. The RN's are doing their job and some times the member's move and change phone numbers and the Insurance is the last to know. You might be receiving a call from a member that change phone numbers and now you have their number. I believe that might explains why you're confuse since you do not have United Healthcare Insurance plan.

Also the number will be indentify on your caler ID as United Healthcare.

    God Bless......

Ed, sometimes it depends on the person that makes the call or their experience. I am a United Healthcare employee and I always I dentify myself and all credentials prior to start taking to the member. This way they feel at ease that they are truly talking to a UHC employee. Once I am close to complete the call I ask the member are you still living at.....and I say their address at that time they say yes ma'am but by them they know who they are speaking to. No outsider will have the information we ask the member. We are instructed to verify demographics first but sometimes we find out is difficult for the member to trust the call right away.

You can tell a scam call just by asking the right questions. If the person feel uneasy when received the call just hang up. If the call is from United Healthcare trust me we call back more than once until we reach that member.

Thank you Tanya for taking the time to identify this problem. I am a United Healthcare employee as well but it seems we need to have additional train on how to make this member's calls. It seems the members receiving the call are unease since the caller is not going through the proper protocol. I never had any problems when I call the members but then not everyone does the work the same.

'W. Beckett' I am a United Healthcare employee and that's the number for the member to call back to reach the caller. (UHC) It's either an RN or an UHC employee that needs to complete a member assesment. (1-800-349-0550)  Do not ignored the call. If you choose not to answer or call back that's fine. You will receive a notice by mail that we UHC has been trying to reach you and that the same number will be in the letter to call back your RN. Thx~

    I;m sorry
BUT this is BULL CRAP that you haress people !!!! We have insurance to take care of healthcare claims,
your company doesnt need any more information that what we fill out upon signing up and what the doctors provide to you.
This is just another way for your company to reject/deny claims because someone answered questions and you recorded them and now we pay hell fighting with insurance to pay.
We pay our premiums and your company needs to hold their end of the contact and pay the claims and quite haressing members.
And who gives you the right to call my cell phone --- most forms say in case of emergency ---------- I dont consider this an emergency
I know you need to make a living to ---- but dont do it at other peoples expense

    Thank You for your message

I feel the same way ---- My mother would give them the information because she is still old school and thinks most people are honest.

Since then we have convinced her to tell any caller to just send information in mail and she still havent recieved anything.

Such paranoia.  This is UHC calling.  I am pregnant and a nurse calls once a month to check up on me.  I don't know why someone running a scam would keep calling back to check up on me.  Seems like a waste of time to me.

Okay I have to add to my post.  People don't have to ask for your DOB or address to steal your identity.  They can easily look that up online.  Funny they called and asked me that and then asked me what my due date was.  Must be a pretty clever scam artist if they knew I was pregnant!  I find it funny that the one thing many of you have in common is UHC and yet you think it's a scam.  Did they ask for your SSN or even part of it?  No.  Ask for a callback number.  Or better yet - don't take advantage of the benefits extended by your insurance company and don't call back!

MK...I am completely lost with your response. What are you talking about claims. This most be a different dept. which I do not handle them or record anything. People out there have a miss conception about Health Insurance and is okay as everyone is entitle to have an opinion and think what they please. I do the same thing to protect my personal information. Well, all people should. After reading all this responses now I do understand what our RN's are going through. They sure have a tough job when all they are trying to do is assist an ill person that is paying for their insurance services. I know the world is bad and is hard to trust anyone these days. Sad....Thx and God Bless.....

Just got a call today from said number. Asked for my age and DOB. Stated she was calling from the specialized pharmacy and knew which medication I was taking. Just needed to verify my consent for receiving the medication. Seemed reasonable, did not ask for SSN, I think it's legit.

Received call for this number at 9:31 am on Feb. 24, 2012.  Comes up Wyoming on caller id.  No message left.  Very annoying.  In reading some of the other comments, they say United Healthcare.  I don't have United Healthcare so this is scary.  Hope they won't call again.  One more call and going to authorities.

This number is actually for a company called "Prescription Solutions", who works on behalf of UHC Insurance to ship medications. This is a call for prior authorization to ship medication.

    Not a scam.

You must be drunk. The only reason you would receive a call from this number is if you have a medical authorization needing your consent.

I have with them a few times at this number. They call to check up on you and your wellness. They are a registered nurse and can an answer specific health related questions, as well as insurance related questions. This has been beneficial for me due to them answering questions relating to my situation in regards to a preexisting.  Just remember this IS your insurance company calling and to only tell them what you want them to know.

They do confirm you by your DOB/Address due to HIPPA.

You have a few things you can do if you're in doubt who they are.
If you question who they are whatsoever, ask for a call back number to united healthcare and hangup and call back. Or ask for some account related information they are calling in regards, like your ACCOUNT number. They should be able to give that information back to you once they verify who you are.

Another thing you can do is decline the call all together.

Just remember dont give them any information you arent safe with talking about.

Everytime I have spoken with them the conversation has been strictly health related.
