These calls come in asking for McCain money. I have answered twice and let them do their pitch before I let them know I am an Obama supporter and to stop calling me. They are polite to me but disrespectful of my candidate, i.e. calling their opposition the "democrat" party not "democratic". I have requested my number be taken off the list but they wouldn't do it.

If you call them back they have a system in place to remove your number easily. They got my number from a candidate I support.

Calls several times every day. Very annoying. I never pick up.

I've been called by phone number (763) 392-5981 several times lately. This number shows up as SFI sometimes and STRATEGIC at other times...varies randomly.

Called at 4:15 PM on 6/24/08 -- didn't recognize the number, didn't answer and they didn't leave a message. Useless [***].

763-392-5981. Here's the deal. It's the RNC (Republican National Committee) - they want donations. They use a 'predictive dialer' which means their computer places the call and only connects one of their telemarketers to the phone line AFTER the call has been answered - thus the apparent 'dead line' when you first answer it. To have the calls discontinued: 1) answer the call; 2) wait until a caller comes on line; 3) ask the caller to have your name/number removed from their call-list. Even though the law says they are exempt from 'Do Not Call' lists, they (the RNC) have a policy of respecting your direct wish to be removed if for no other reason than it's expedient (financially advantageous) for them to NOT waste time calling folks who don't want to be called.

For those who think this is an actual, legitimate political fund raising orginazation, I cannot stress enough that *THIS IS A SCAM!*  They are, in no way, shape, or form, affiliated with any legitimate organization, neither political nor charity.  If given the opportunity, they will claim to be both.

If you go to their web site, they have a link to add yourself to their own DNC list.  Do not bother, as all it does is confirm that your phone number is correct and the frequency of their calls often increase.

All I can recommend anybody doing is reporting them to the FTC (there is a link on every page on this site, I believe).

They usually "call" me at night - about 7:30PM - and their computer just hangs; I don't hear anything. I have Qwest phone service and can block the calls. But, I went to their Web site and went through the process of having my number put on their DNC list. Here's what they say,

Received a call from 763-392-5981 July 9, 2008 at 8:39 pm.  Caller ID and the call record indicate it was from an "SFI".  No message was left and I know of no reason I should be receiving calls from the Twin Cities area of Minnisota (Shown as the origin when doing a reverse number look-up). Our number is listed on the Federal No Call list and the Pennsylvania No Call list as well.

I called the number back and received a recorded message that the company name is Strategic Fundraising.  They say they provide telemarket fundraising calls for charity and political organizations.  They appear, however, to ignor that there is a no call list. (Wouldn't you think these people would understand that those who list on no-call lists don't want to hear from political or charity organizations either, regardless of whether it is legal or not?)

It's a shame that some pathetic entity is out there making calls like this.  They can't even leave a message and appear to totally disregard peoples wishes to not be called.  We should pitty these kind because they are apparently seriously desparate and have a life that is of no value (They must have nothing of any real value to do / lead a worthless existance if they spend their time bow to such low levels).

Join me - If anyone figures-out the political candidate or charity these people are calling for - VOTE FOR THE OPPOSING CANDIDATE; DON'T EVER AGAIN GIVE TO THE CHARITY; And, if you find names of people that are running this place or making the calls - Flog them and deport them to Iran or some other dark place (where they'll actually get treated much better than they deserve!).

We have received several calls from this number.  One Sunday afternoon (our normal weekly nap time) we were awakened 3 times in a period of 90 minutes by this caller.  Thanks for the info to get on their "do not call" list.  I hope it works!

Unwanted calls from 763-392-5981

I'm getting these calls, too, from the same number. Just got one, in fact. They all seem to ring in the early evening.  I answer & they hang up.  So what's up with that?  Makes a lotta sense to me: make long distance calls & hang up.  And if this is a political thing, it confuses me even more.
