These guys are shady dealers and scammers and if you get a call from them file a 1088 Complaint with the FCC at https://esupport.fcc.gov/form1088/consumer.do and if you are on the National Do Not Call List, file a Complaint at https://www.donotcall.gov/default.aspx.

If the government gets enough complaints from you, we can put these guys out of business.

I just wanted to say I received the same type of call today from this company...in fact it was Mr Newman. Left a message about having my neighbor at such and such address call him back and left a case number. There isn't even a person at the address he called about with that name. Not sure what this scam is all about. (4/25/2008)

the federal trade commission investigates all of the Third Party Collectors due to the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act, which is a federal law you are protected, look up the FDCPA and research, then consult a lawyer!

I am glad I googled this number. My step-grandmother got a call from these people today saying there was some pending litigation against me and to contact Malinda at XX extension with XX case number. I called not knowing what this was about and had to leave a message for them to call me back. I am expecting answers as to how they got my step-grandmothers brand new phone number but yet couldnt contact me at any of my old numbers.

OK so I contacted the FCC and the 1088 form is not the correct for. That is for telemarketers.

If you are being harassed by this company you should call 877-382-4357 and basically listen to the options. I forget the specific option but its towards the end of the menu and the number option was 2 (for dept collections). There you listen and just keep pressing the number selection for dept collections. You will then go though an interview and be transfered to an operator. This is the only way to file a complaint for harassment, calling a number on the Do Not Call list, or on behalf of the indivudual they are calling for if they have, in fact, told a third party they are searching for you because of any legal or debt matters. They should only be asking for you by name, and your contact info...any additional information they share with you as a third party goes against that individuals right to privacy.
If you do not file a complaint this company will continue to break laws and harrass people. I just filed on behalf of myself for them disclosing private information to a third party member (telling my grandmother I had a pending litigation matter against me and that I should call asap to avoid any legal matters).
Hope this helps. My mother and grandmother will also be calling the number to file a complaint because they are on the national Do Not Call list.

ALSO...important. In order to stop these individuals from calling you the person they are searching for had to submit a letter via certified mail telling them they are to stop all further contact. Once they receive this letter they are no longer allowed to call you or anyone else searching for you. They are only allowed to call to tell you for specific reasons.

Persons from this number phoned to inquire about our ex son-in-law.  They indicated that it was an emergency and very serious matter.  They also phoned my daughter and said that her ex-husband had 24 hours to respond and wanted to know if he would need legal assistance.

We thought that this was very serious and did not understand what could be going on.  These type of calls are wrong and something should be done about this type of phone calls.

Thanks heavens for this web site! I have now received at least two messages from this bogus outfit.  The caller states that this message is for a relative and gives a case number.  He and then she state that if this relative doesn't call 1-800-210-0836 within the next 24 hours, it will affect this relative's credit.  We have no intention of returning their call or passing this message on to our relative.  How do we report this company and get them closed down?  

What concerns me is that they are probably calling people who respond out of fear to their demands. Goodness only knows what they coerce these poor people into doing - probably sending a large amount of money to UCB.

I got a call from this company todY.  The caller left a message, his name is Roger Hicks at extension 63738.  He wanted to talk to my son, who lives in KS, I live in PA.  He said he wanted to talk to him about a complaint, and to have him call or his attorny.  I threat by this company or any is unethical.  I called thwm back and recevied a recording that asked for my name, phone number, and case number.  I tried the extension, i got another message that told thier assoicates where busy, please leave the following....  I left a message asking why I can not dial the extension.  I beleive this is a scam.

A man by the name of Roger Hess called looking for my brothers ex-father-in-law. Told us that he found me through investigation and that we were related. Then he left a case number and said it was about a legal document. Weird they have been divorced for 3 yrs. Glad they dont investigate anything for me.

I got called by Roger Tess or Hess, sounded serious, acted like it wasnt me so i can figure out what they wanted, informed me they couldnt tell me what the call was concerning, even though by law Debt Collection companies have to declare themselves on the phone. Tried looking up the case number he gave me, and still havent found any court federal,local or state that has the case number.

I got a call from this number asking "lastname" family member to contact my bother and have him call this 800 number, that it was urgent.  He gave a case number.  He never said what it was about nor gave his name.  He didn't even know my name.  Needless to say I'm not calling that number and I'm not telling my brother about it either except to warn him.

I received a call looking for a person they wanted to know if she had a Attory and that their was a civil suit pendening and that that were going to the Att Gen. Office with this if she did not call back and talk to a Joel @ 1 800 2100836 ext 63697 are these guys on the up and up or what

I also have had some bad calls from this number tellin that they are doing a civel suit and going to the att. gen office and did I have a lawyer. Not very nice people and they didn't talk to me it was a message to give to me.I didn't think that they could tell anyone about your bussiness.????

Man (Mr. Benton) said he was from the social security (mumbled, then...unclear) and left the number 1 800 210 0836 and said it concerns a person I have never heard of.  Saying it was urgent that I call before 9:00 Eastern time.  Left a case number.

Repeated phone calls/messages for my oldest son.  They would state that he had to appear in court, or he was being summoned to court and would be arrested if he did not send money, or send money to avoid litigation etc.  
On 7/16/08 another call and he spoke with my young son, gave his name as JEFF JACKSON, 800-210-0836 EXT:63877 and told my son to tell his brother he was to appear in court.  I called the # within 5 minutes and there was no answer at that extension, nor was "JEFF" in the building.  Gave the name of the business as "United Corporation for Businesses".
On 7/17/08 another call and this time my young daughter answered and the man asked for ME by name, wanted to know where I was, and then asked her if she was my daughter and WHAT HER NAME WAS!  My daughter hung up on him.  He called back and my husband took the call and he basically told him to not call us again.
Just to let you know, NO company can ever summon anyone to court or have you arrested. The court issues it and the Sheriff's Dept. deliver any summons or subpeona.
I filed a complaint with the FTC, and will be filing a complaint with the Attorney General in my state (ND).

A guy called tonight and left a message stating he was Ron Parrish in the "pre-legal department over at UCB", referring to it as if I might know who UCB is.  He left the number 1-800-210-0836 x3694 and a case number at mentioned he was trying to get in touch with so and so, first name only, about his case.  I called back and the person answering the phone identified them as United Bureau, got switched to the guy and told him I didn't know anybody by that name and recalled an instance before when someone was looking for that same person.  This guy says guy has the same last name as mine and left my number as a contact.  Told him that wasn't likely because I didn't know anybody by that name. Seemed like he was fishing.  Started googling and came up with this website and a few others. Could this be United Collection Bureau?

Mr. Benton called July 23 2008  said he was calling from Social Security Administation Bureau.That sounded fishy right there.Said it Concerned my husbands SS number, gave 1-800-210-0836 at ext 63908 and a case number. I could tell there was something not right with this and did not call him back..jumped on here to see if anyone else had gotten cals from this number. Glad I checked...what low lifes.

I got a knock on the door, on July 29th @2:45pm. Some women(I could see her through my peep hole),not the police somehow got through my gated community and security to knock on the door. She was wearing a Joe's Crab Shack T-shirt. She knocked twice and then left a note covering the peep whole. The note was on yellow lined paper and on had the lines...

The paper was hand written and folded in half. I called 877-382-4357 and left a complaint.
PS the case # is not real...only a police officer can give you a case #.
The case # is probably something that they internally made up.

Conclusion : These people are totally breaking the law.(period)

These people get into your business or try to. My call came to my sister, who said she would let me know and took the information down. I received a case number and left a message. Never wanted to give me a manager or supervisor name. We definitely need a way to stop these people but not sure how. If anyone knows, we could do a class action suit against them. Obviously, they are still in business after all the complaints go back as  early as 2005.

This Jerry Newman called my NEIGHBOR!  He said he was an ATTORNEY and he wanted to avoid filing a lawsuit against my son.  This is illegal and if you get these he is impersonating an officer of the law - let a lone sharing personal information with strangers, and threatening my son.  I am filing a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission and suggest you do the same.
