    Here's how to stop them from calling you FOR GOOD:

    Send them this letter VIA certified mail with return receipt requested DEMANDING validation of the alledged debt(s) they are calling about. Keep copies of everything you send. Per the FDCPA they have five days to respond to your request. If they can't (or won't) provide proof that you legitimately owe it and continue calling, you can sue them for statutory damages at the rate of $1,000.00 PER violation:

    Collection agencies if they do not validate your debt yet continue to pursue collection activity (file for judgments, call or write you)  Consumer protection afforded by the FDCPA (FDCPA Section 809 (b), FTC opinion letter Cass from LeFevre $1,000).

    VIA CERTIFIED MAIL

    Dear {insert name of collector or company},

    I am writing in response to your (letter or phone call) dated {insert date}, (copy enclosed) because I do not believe I owe what you say I owe.

    This is the first I've heard from you, or any other company on this matter therefore, in accordance with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, Section 809(b): Validating Debts:

    (b) If the consumer notifies the debt collector in writing within the thirty-day period described in subsection (a) that the debt, or any portion thereof, is disputed, or that the consumer requests the name and address of the original creditor, the debt collector shall cease collection of the debt, or any disputed portion thereof, until the debt collector obtains verification of the debt or any copy of a judgment, or the name and address of the original creditor, and a copy of such verification or judgment, or name and address of the original creditor, is mailed to the consumer by the debt collector.

    I respectfully request that you provide me with the following information:

    (1) the amount of the debt;
    (2) the name of the creditor to whom the debt is owed;
    (3) Provide a verification or copy of any judgment (if applicable);
    (4) Proof that you are licensed to collect debts in (insert name of your state).

    Be advised that I am fully aware of my rights under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and the Fair Credit Reporting Act. For instance, I know that:

    Because I have disputed this debt in writing within 30 days of receipt of your dunning notice, you must obtain verification of the debt or a copy of the judgment against me and mail these items to me at your expense;
    you cannot add interest or fees except those allowed by the original contract or state law.

    You do not have to respond to this dispute but if you do, any attempt to collect this debt without validating it, violates the FDCPA;
    Also be advised that I am keeping very accurate records of all correspondence from you and your company including recording all phone calls and I will not hesitate to report violations of the law to my State Attorney General, the Federal Trade Commission and the Better Business Bureau.

    I have disputed this debt; therefore, until validated you know your information concerning this debt is inaccurate. Thus, if you have already reported this debt to any credit-reporting agency (CRA) or Credit Bureau (CB) then, you must immediately inform them of my dispute with this debt. Reporting information that you know to be inaccurate or failing to report information correctly violates the Fair Credit Reporting Act § 1681s-2. Should you pursue a judgment without validating this debt, I will inform the judge and request the case be dismissed based on your failure to comply with the FDCPA.

    Finally, if you do not own this debt, I demand that you immediately send a copy of this dispute letter to the original creditor so they are also aware of my dispute with this debt.

    I received a call today from this number... a Mr. Rodriguez.  Really shady because I called back around 9:00 PM and the phone just kept ringing... don't companies like this usually have 24/7 answering/an answering service or at least a 15 dollar answering machine?  Kinda has me freaked out, but I'm not sure what they could be collecting on...

    For two months or more now, and EVERY SINGLE DAY I get a call from
    1-800-210-0836 and asked to refer to case #######, but no information
    about this company is mentioned.  I am on the do-not-call list and have
    filed a complaint, and with the FTC, but no one wants to take the effort
    to do anything.  UNKNOWN caller, and UNKNOWN name is listed on my phone,
    so how can this company be legal, and although there are no threats, isn't
    this type of relentless calling, called stalking?

    When I would get home from work there would be a automated voice on my answering machine saying we are calling for "Marie", if you are "Marie" press 1, then it would hang up when one pushed 1.  I could never call them back because I never had a number, and I know I may not be on top of the latest technology but I don't have caller ID.  I do however always pay my bills on time and have never been late so I was not concerned because as far as I knew I did not have any outstanding bills. One day I just happened to be home when they called and I followed the automated instructions to find out that after going to the doctors a year before I had a bill that did not get paid.  Apparently the hospital charges you then the physicians charge you.  I assumed it was all on one bill from the hospital and that hospital bill had already been taken care of.  I was pissed that it even got sent to a collection agency because I am so concerend about having good credit and that it took almost a year for them to contact me, if they were not getting any where by phone they should have sent a letter, which never happened.  once on the phone with them they were the rudest mother F*'s I had ever talked to.  I asked why it took so long for them to contact me and why they did not send a letter, and explained the messages I would get had no contact number, they acted like I was a piece of [***] who doesn't work or pay my bills and treated me as one.  Let me just say that I have a job, which is why I was never home to answer their calls, in fact I have a Master's Degree, which I am sure none of those idiots do, and it doesn't take brains to do their job just an spineless [***], I hope they enjoy their life!

    Mr. "Stuart Franklin" called my ex-wife, been divorced 17 years, and told her that I had been involved in an "auto accident" a year ago. That I was being sued and he need to contact me. Scared her to death. He wanted my personal information.
    I haven't been involved in any auto accidents since 1958. Don't know what this is about... but I'm going to file a complaint with the Mo. AG office and Fed's.

    They have called my parents also.  I am an adult and have my own phone number.  They should not be calling my parents even if they do have a debt to collect with me.  They won't even say what it is for.  They just say they're from United Bureau Inc. and his name is Mr. Rominy (something like that).  And he left a file number with my parents.  Even if they are my parents, I still think that is against the law to leave personal information like a file number with my parents.  If it's not against the law, it should be.  I'm going to report them to the Better Business Bureau.

    Trying to get to one of my neighbors.  When I calle3d and asked them to stop calling me for someone else's debt as I was on the FTC Do Not Call list, the guy got loud.  I demanded (just as loudly) to speak with a supervisor.  While speaking to a loud mouthed man, I let the word damned slip and got a diatribe about not talking to him like I talk to my children.  When I explained that I have no children he started to berate my sexual ability, laughed and hung up.

    I called back and spoke with a s. Dixon.  She provided the name and address of the President and CEO of United Collection Bureau:

    Mr. Sanju Sharma
    5360 Sourtwyck Boulevard
    Toledo, OH  43614

    Nail him with letters.

    It's called a skip trace, sometime they are not even looking for you, they maybe looking for a neighbor, and they look up the persons address who owe the money, and if they can't get ahold of that person, they will search by address and start calling neighbors which should be against the law.

    STATE OMBUDSMAN
    This is considered illegal when the calling party wants to know of the whereabouts of a former spouse, business associate, neighbor, etc. The act, passed by the US Congress in 1977, specifically prohibits such tactics. There are penalities levied against third party collectors, debt collectors, attorneys who attempt to gain information about someone other than yourself.  This Act is the FAIR DEBT COLLECTIONS PRACTICES ACT (1977).  Get all the information from whoever is calling. Do not disclose any information about yourself or the part(ies) involved. Get their Company, their name, address
    and phone number. Keep the record of the time called. Did they call you at home, office, on cell phone, leave message, text message. You can then demand they are never to call you again. IF they continue, you have their phone number. Record the time and how they contacted you. Go on the Federal Trade Commission web site, download a form, fill it out. Keep copy for yourself. Your complaint can yield the costs you have incurred, attorney fees (if you use an attorney) and a maximum penalty of $1000. The only way one can get rid of this abuse, is to do the above.

    I recieved a call from the number of 1-800-210-0836, in which the caller stated my final paper work was put on her desk. she went on to state that this is a very important matter and that I needed to contact her. No later than 1 hour later a neighbor called me stating someone from the same number contacted her in an attempt to contact me. when i did call the number I was told that they can do anything they want to get me to contact them. they were told i would contact the attorney generals office if they continue with that tactic. by the way she never mention any outstanding debt I owe. the peson i was speaking with was very rude and low class (It figures).

    I received a call from Missy Manuel at this company, UCB, looking for someone that I have never met nor heard of.  Apparently this person Chantelle Frantz is putting me down as a reference.  How she got my name/number I don't know.  This is the second company.  I am googling her next, then if I can find her I will be contacting a lawyer.

    I believe you have the right to tell the caller that you want all future contact to be by U.S. Mail, and that you want the phone calls stopped immediately. If the calls continue after that, you have a case for harassment in some states.

    I received a mysterious phone call at work, stating case # but not purpose of call.  Sounded suspicious so I looked up the phone number via this site.  I do not intend to call them but, based on these postings, I have little doubt they will continue to call me.
