- TaylorGot an invoice from them for $80 claiming we made a call in Feb. Phone records shows no such call existed and when I spoke with them their argument was that for one day it switched to their infrastructure and I'm responsible for the charges. I'm on VOIP that doesn't route through them so I filed a complaint on BBB. Total scam

- JTI received a bill at our business place for $33.60. I called and talked to a lady (very rude) and told her that I would like to dispute this bill as we have no business or whatsoever with MCI nor Verizon. She then said that it could be a call for Directory Assistance. I told her that with the Internet these days, who needs Directory Assistance, but we DO NOT call for Directory Assistance anyway. She then said that she will send this bill into Dispute and that they will call me back.....but she never asked for my name nor my number.
This is just simply amazing and am wondering why there isn't anything done by the government. Where the government when you need them? I mean they must have a bank account right? Since people fall for this will most likely send them a check. - benJust got one of these bills for the Nursing Home where I work. This is a scam.

- AnneGot a bill for $60.53 for a call we didn't make from a company (MCI) we don't use. Same scam as mentioned below. I sent a message to the real MCI and to our real phone carrier. I'll call the Jacksonville police later.

- I. R. Stopp replies to GinaThis scam is still going. Sept 20, 2012 I received a bill from these scammers for $13
for long distance.
MCI is not a subsidiary of Verizon anyway; and my TWC home phone carrier
gives me long distance free and has no connection with MCI.
Why don't they just give up. - DaveGot the same thing in the mail today for $13.10. Like everyone else, it looks suspicious. I don't have MCI, I go through Time Warner and all calls within the US are free. A weird statement on the bill really made me wonder: "The following calls were completed using MCI's network. The charges for these call will not be on any other telephone company's invoice. Please pay upon receipt to MCI. Thank you.".

- Dina| 1 replyI just got one of these bills too... says its for a bunch of 3rd party calls over the course of 2 days to the tune of $176.52!!
I just pulled up my account with Comcast fo those days and I dont have any answered, missed or dialed calls for the days they are billing me for. When I call the 800 number on their invoice there are very generic prompts with no mention of any company name at all.
Obvioulsy a total scam....
Does this just go away if you ignore it, or do I need to do something else?- Caller: MCI
- KaiI received a bill as well - almost mailed payment but I put the wrong postage stamp on. So I decided to just open the the bill up and pay over the phone. The problem was I had already tossed the part with the phone number so I googled teh company. That's when I saw all the comments about fraud. I called my service provider Verizon. They told me they don't know why MCI would be billing me - it has nothing to do with Verizon. Thank God I put the wrong postage.
- VivianI received a bill from "Telecom USA a Verizon Company," PO Box 600674, Jacksonville, FL 32260-0674, asking me to pay for a collect call that we accepted from Las Vegas. We don't know anyone in Vegas and almost never use our home telephone. They waited so long to send the bill, I no longer have access to my Comcast call records in order to prove that I did not accept any such call. I thought the bill was pretty strange anyway. What office is only open from 9a-5p, Mon-Fri? I tried to contact them a few times, during different times of the day but kept reaching a recording, asking for a call back number. I finally left a message, telling them that I've been trying to reach them and don't have a number that they can call me during those hours, because I'm at work and can not accept personal business calls. They left a message on my home phone voicemail, basically saying that the details are on the bill, they'll send me another copy and I need to pay it. I spoke with two different Comcast representatives, who don't know anything about it either. I'm so glad, while on chat with Comcast, I googled 1-800-226-0014 and found all of your similar stories. Thank you, everyone.

- VictoriaSure glad to find I am not the only one out there. I also have a bill for 104.24. This has been driving me crazy for the last couple of weeks! I'm sure glad I decided to google this before paying it today!
We do not pay for an outside phone service since we have a bundle with Dish. Internet, TV, and Phone all included. They say it was authorized by me, and I was not even here in WI at the time, I winter in AZ. How is it they think they got authorized??
Thanks Everyone for your input on this! I will sleep tonight....- Caller: MCI a Verizon Company
- Victoria"Slamming": Slamming occurs when customers have their telephone service switched to a new carrier without their permission. You may receive a call from a telemarketer asking you to switch your long distance provider. Although you say you are not interested in switching, your long distance provider is changed anyway.

- ChrisReceived a call from "telecom usa" although the number came up as unavailable on the caller id. The woman, who had a distinct southern drawl, said a collect call had been made from this number and that she needed a name and address so she could send an invoice. Gave the 1-800-226-0014 number as "If you have any questions you can call us at..." We have a Comcast VOIP phone which has free calling within the US. Something told me this was a fraud so I checked here. Glad I did.
