- ???Just got a text message from this number with my name, address, and an Internet link. No explanation. I'm guessing I don't want to open the link.

- AnonymI got a letter in the mail from this scam unit, using the name Telecom USA a Verizon Company. It was telling me my account was over 30 days past due. No statement or invoice ever came to begin with. I don't make long distance calls on my home phone, nor do I use chat rooms, 900 numbers, or any other of that type of stuff. The bill is for $5.45, but I'm not paying it because I only use my cell phone and the bill is charged to my home phone. I don't want to call the number to question them about the "past due" bill because I don't want them getting any other number that I might use. My home phone company, cell company, and cable company know nothing about it. Don't be fooled, people. I will be reporting this to the BBB and FCC, as well. Looks like they've been around a long time. SCAM ALERT!
- MAgree on the scam...never had any relationship with any of the companies listed. They contact you to get you to call them back. They then have more info from your return call on you (name/addl cell number/etc.). The 800# belongs to RPS and Transaction Networks, Inc. They have purchased your phone number (for pennies on the dollar) from one of the major phone carriers' <really> old receivable accts. These are accts where the prior owner (of your current number) did not pay their long distance charges to that carrier (and that number was then reassigned to you as a new customer) or you made the call a long time ago & that carrier shows it was not paid but decided not to pursue you for the charges, usually because it was a small amount. Either way, they hope you will call them back and give them your name and billing address. These are usually old long distance charges that the big phone carrier companies have written off as uncollectable - they must do that annually and it part of their cost of doing business. These same carriers then sell your number to RPS/Transaction Networks so they can try THEIR hand at collection. Their customer service reps are probably paid/incented based on their collections from you like other similar agencies do. Either way, it's a scam to get you to call them and give up your personal info so they can try to charge you since you now own that number.
So, I got a Fax Memo from RPS (Remittance Processing Services - company formed in 2006 by Finnegan). My phone caller id display showed: Transaction Networks, Inc. There was no mention in the fax of the long distance call details: date/time/long distance numbers/charges/etc - just a really unprofessionally looking fax from #904-287-1128:
"MCI/Telecom*USA
Date: (handwritten in...)
Attention: Telecommunications Manager
Reference: (handwritten in - my number)
There are long distance calls using our network originating from the above referenced number. Currently, there is no billing account for this line number. Please call Customer Service at 1-877-471-1453 (which was crossed-out & handwritten above it was this number 1-800-226-0014) to provide us with your company name and billing address. We must have this information within 24 hours to prevent service interruption. Thank you. Stephanie"

- CMJust received a bill from "MCI" with the P.O. Box 600607, Jacksonville, FL 32260-0607 in the amoun of $13.65. The bill is for 6 calls made on September 19, 2017 between 3:43 pm and 3:47 pm each at a duration of 1 min. The calls were allegedly made from the fax line in our office. I checked the time cards for that day and no one was working during the time the calls were supposedly made. Our last employee clocked out at 3:06 pm. I did a reverse search of the phone number and it is a cell number owned by someone in Roanoke, Texas. I'll be sharing this with our local community to let them know not to fall for this scam.

- MaureenI received a "bill" from MCI for two calls I supposedly made on my home phone in Illinois on Halloween around 9 am and 1:30 pm to my parents phone # in Arkansas, for $28.92. I know I did NOT call them because I was at work at the time!! And I did call them but on 11/1/17 at 6 pm. I called AT&T, to find out what's going on, and the rep told me there's no record of the Halloween calls. Just the call I made the next day. I'm glad I found out this is a scam! Thanks to everyone for the warning, so folks won't be taken by these con artists!!

- NocoleReceived a call from this number on my home phone telling me to call them back about a call I made to British Columbia, and they gave me the entire phone number. Scary to think a scam like this can view my phone calls and knows where I’m calling even though I don’t have service with them. Very unsettling.

- Jennifer reimReceived a bill for $17 and some odd cents from MCI. Allegedly for "long distance" calls. They are not my provider. Called the 800 number. No one answers. When they called back, they were told I was receiving a long distance bill from them. Lady said "O.K. bye"
When I called back a second time she answered "customer service". Obviously fraud.

- Dale| 2 repliesMy 92 year old mother received a bill for $19.48 from TELECOM*USA (a Verizon Company) for an AMOUNT DUE that is at least 30 days past due... with no explanation of what this charge was for. Obviously it's a bogus charge. Research shows this company does stuff with VoIP and other long distance services. My Mom doesn't even have internet. Looks like I'll go thru the motions and call the 800-226-0014 number and leave a message.

- Amy replies to BethI just received a bill from "MCI a Verizon company" for $6.63 for two local calls they claim were made from our home phone (we don't use Verizon). This is a total scam-do not pay or even call!
