They called me and said they can lower my monthly payment if I pay my escrow, and I gave them my card information and they said it didn't go through. They told me to go to CVS or Target or Walgreens and get a prepaid card. And than I knew what it is.... I saw videos of this kind of scam before.

They called and said they were from BB&T Bank (they had very heavy accent) and they knew  my account info and said they can lower my monthly payment if I pay such and such. So I gave them my card # but they said it doesn't go through so they wanted me to go buy a prepaid card. I knew at that moment it's a scam. I called my bank so my card was cancelled. I just don't understand if all these people calling about this number and saying these people scamming bb&t customers, and it's going on years ago, but nothing is done about it. They called me from 3 diffynumber and I checked the first one I found comments from people about bb&t scam back in 2003...

My wife received an email from BB&T stating they received her address change. My wife no longer has any accounts with BB&T so she called this number to dispute. She was prompted to put in her SS# which she was hesitant to do so she put in a fake number which was rejected by the automated system. When she finally put in her correct # she was connected to a live person who then wanted all of her personal info (name, address, dob etc). My wife asked how the woman didn’t have all that if they had her SS# and the woman stated that none of her info “popped up” on her screen. My wife hung up and will go to a local branch to further investigate.

I got a call from this number with an automated message that a certain amount of money was being withdrawn from my account and if it was not authorized to push option 1. The person answering had an East Indian accent and seemed to be breathing  heavily into the phone, behavior I don't associate with a professional business. He told me it had to do with a coinbase account and asked me if I had one and I said no to which he responded "wrong number, sorry" and I said for them not to call me anymore as he hung up

They first sent me a text stating a potentially fraudulent charge had been made against my account. Then I received a call from this number. Said they would happily close my account as it had been compromised and that there had been multiple login attempts with one successful one on my mobile banking. The guy then proceeded to tell me that he would set up my new account and just needed my username. I ended the call right there. Called my bank through their actual number and they said everything was fine. This is a popular scam. Do not fall for it.

I got a call from 800-226-5228 twice. First time I didn't answer. They called again and asked me if I was purchasing something for like $500 in Florida. I told her no. She then wanted me to give her the last 10 numbers on my card for security validation. (I think she had the first couple of numbers & was trying to get the whole number) I told her I would go to my branch and take care of. She told me that a new card could be sent to me in 1-2 days. I told her again I will go to the bank. She wanted to stay on the phone while I drove to the bank! She was extremely pushy and kept saying we have to take care of this. I went to my bank and they didn't see anything coming thru on my account. I believe she was trying to scam me so beware and don't give your personal info out to strangers!

This is exactly what happened to me, but instead of $200 they got over $4000 out my account.
