I don't answer numbers I don't recognize. If the call is legit they will leave a message, if they don't, oh well.

The theives are ghosting the number.  Luckily, Capital One really looks after their customers.  I got an email that someone was trying to access my online account.  A few minutes later, I received my call.  They said someone was trying to charge on my card from a strange location for my account.  Once I told them that No, I wasn't in CA., they said to file the fraud report they need info to verify me - they repeat my phone number and then asked for either a card number or a ccv code from a card - I thought that the ccv would be the safest and gave it to them.  Little did I know that now that is what they can use to change your account password.  Then talking very fast he said that I was going to receive the text to waive the $25 re-issue fee on my cards and it came and I gave him the number.  Capital One blocked the Zelle payment that would have wiped out my account.  Capital One did refund my money immediately.

Got a spoof local number from "Card Member Services" trying to lower my interest rate. Knew it was a scam and was giving false info. Told them I had a Capitol One card. After calling them a scam they hung up and called back from this number to "prove" they were legit. I try to keep them on the line as long as possible so they have less time to scam other people.

I called this phone number from the back of my Capital One credit card today and there was a survey to claim a cruise playing instead of the normal customer service line. I hung up. Shortly after, the line was down with technical difficulties and remained that way on and off throughout the evening.

I called this number twice today. I was speaking with someone over fraudulent charges and needed to get my husband on the phone( tried to do conference call and it hung up. I used the number in the app that says see something wrong and clicked on the fraud charge and dialed from there ) so we immediately called back and kept getting cruise survey. Finally called a different number and claimed the fraud and got new card issued. Hopefully capital 1 takes care of this issue.

Male caller said he was calling from Capital One Fraud Office.  My Cap One Master card had been used for 500.00 at Walmart.  First he said Orlando and then he said Atlanta.  Wanted to "verify" my identity by sending me a code to my gmail account.  I said okay that I would look for it.  Never came.  Then he asked me to verify my email address that was on the account.  I asked him to tell me what he had.  He fumbled for a response.  I told him I didn't have a Capital one acct and didn't have a Master Card.  He got indignant and said he would transfer me to the Fraud Dept (which I thought he was calling from).  I held for about 30 seconds before the call dropped.

This is literally Capital One, though this is NOT the number that will show up if THEY are calling YOU. THAT number will likely be 800-955-7070, for everyone's future reference.

This number is a scam! Says Capital One, but this number is a scam! Will ask for your info, try to sell you account coverage info, and steal all your money in your accounts! Do not be fooled! Look at your statement for correct customer service phone numbers!
