- Whitney replies to JEANI got a call at 4:30 in morning saying this was capital one security and need to ask security question. I took down number this oriental ladies voice said And told her I would have my daughter call back. I called back and spoke to a real capital one fraud service and she said they would never call at 4:30 am. She said google the number and then put the word scam after it. This came up so this was a scam
- Jeff| 1 replyCapital One called me about my father's account. Why would they call me when I am 1000 miles away from him and have not lived at their house in 35 years? In my book, this is a fraudulent call as if there was truly a problem with an application, would they not call the number on the application? Bunch of morons.

- Tygerkat replies to JeffClearly Capital One wouldn't call you about someone else's account. Scammers, however, would. Warn your father about this in case these scammers also call him.
- KelbotReceived an offer from these bozos. Then they want my s. s. number, copy of license, and utility bill to activate card!! No thanks!!!! Total scam.

- KapvacReceived 2 calls today. One from this number and one from 855-522-7663. Both left voice mails, with call back number being this one. They claim to be from Capital One looking for a Ted Ammert for fraud detection. I don't have a friend with that name and I have never been a capital one customer, so I called back asking them to remove my number from their system. The guy picking up the call said they are located in Costa Rica.

- JimI requested an increase to my Capital One credit card's limit through their website. About 3 days later a Capital One rep from this number called me and asked me to verify my address, last 4, and DOB. She then said my request was approved and to log-in to the website to check the increase. After 5 minutes I saw they increased my limit.

- KJRI received two voicemail messages this week from this number, claiming to be from Capital One regarding fraudulent activity on my account, but both referencing a different account holder and different last four digits of the account number. I called 1-800-CAPITAL (listed on the back of my card) to alert them that either someone was calling fraudulently in their name or that they had the wrong number for the actual account holder. They verified that 1-800-239-7054 is an actual Capital One fraud protection number, and said that the phone number on on file for the actual account holder was probably off by one digit. I then also checked the Capital One website and found 1-800-239-7054 listed under "Fraud Protection" on their page of phone contacts for their personal credit card products: https://www.capitalone.com/support-center/credit-cards/personal/contact.

- Some person replies to Andrew"But not a fraud". Fake comment. It's a scam.
- Courtney replies to Tim M-MThis is NOT fraudulent. It is a legitimate number. They called to inform me that Visa had reported my card number had been compromised and they were closing the card and sending me a new one. They did not ask for ANY information, not my name, my address, nothing. It was simply to inform me that my card would no longer work and I would be receiving a new one in the next few days.
- EshaI received a phone call from this number saying that my card was suspected of having fraud activity. They emailed me a link, and said I needed to upload three of my most recent bank statements to verify my income. Suspicious, a called the 1-800 number on the back of my card and it turned out to be a legitimate call. Continue to be safe out there and verify if you feel uneasy.

- Eastern SeaboardI think it's a scam. Why would a legit company ask someone to risk identity theft by transmitting personal ID and info online when there is no issue or they would not tell me what the issue is. "fraud concern" and "our link is safe to click on" is what every scammer would say. If Capital One is involved , The reason they have such a large fraud department is because they are contributing to having the identity of their customers stolen by acting the same as the scammers.

- BobbyGot a call from this number that listed out the last 4 of my card number and stating that there was a fraud alert issued. The man calling listed out a 1800 number to call and then said I could call the number on the back of my card as well. Called the number on the back of my card and the actual fraud department said that Capital One will only ever contact me through text or email relating to issues like this and would never leave a voice mail.
This leads me to believe that the posters here claiming it to be an actual number are affiliated with the scammers.- Call type: Scam suspicion
- Daniel| 1 replyYeah I just got a call from this number and I took it. This guy was talking about my interest rate is too high and that I shouldn't be paying more that 12% and that we should lower it. I said ok. Asked me if I knew who Experian is. I said ok. Then he proceeds to ask me how much do I currently owe. I told him, Shouldn't you have that information since you're calling me from Capital One. He ignored it and proceeded to say I just need a rough estimate like $3000 or $5000. I told him again since you're calling me from Capital One shouldn't you have that information on how much I owe you guys? Then he hung up.

- Arcadio Morales| 1 replyThey wanted me to submit documents. Social security card, Federal or state issued ID and proof of residence which I have submitted by uploading them by taking pictures from my cell phone. In order to finish processing my request about a credit card I have received and activated already from Capital one credit card services.
- Caller: 800-239-7054
- Tygerkat replies to Arcadio MoralesYou already have the credit card but you still gave them what they asked for?! Why?! If Capital One needed anything to "finish processing my request" they would have asked for it before sending you the card.
- Fraud BusterThis number is a fraud, I called Capital One with the number in the back of my card. They advised do not call that number and to closely monitor my account to make sure there are no unauthorized purchases or new accounts opened in my name. If anyone on here is saying the 800-239-7054 is legit is a scammer! Don’t believe it and if you do sneer the call, tell them politely that you will call the number on the back of your card. If they don’t accept your concern and becomes confrontational just hang up and call the number on the back of your card. Better safe than sorry!!!
- Nico ToscaniThis is 100% a scam. Confirmed by Capital One. Don't be fooled into thinking it's legit because they tell you to call the number on the back of your card or by the fake posts here. Capital One will never contact you by phone. Only text, email or post.

- 800-239-7054SPOOF CALL ALERT - DO NOT GIVE THEM INFORMATION! CALL CAPITAL ONE DIRECTLY, THESE PEOPLE ARE SCAMMERS
Received a call. Could barely understand the person on the line as their accent was extremely strong. It was clear they were reading from a script and didn't understand my questions or responses. They said I was selected by Experian to receive a lower interest rate and proceeded to ask me questions about my accounts which I did not want to answer. They hung up. I called back immediately and spoke with a real capital one representative and they agreed that it sounded like the number had been spoofed and it was a phishing call.- Caller: Capital One Scam
